Category:Adepts
Adepts are specially flagged enemies that may only be fought by players under a certain level. They are designed as "raid mobs", meaning they typically call for a larger number of players and may require special strategizing and coordination if they are to be slain. All of them summon—meaning kiting or rooting them in place isn't a viable strategy—and most have exceptionally high HP, regeneration, and attack power. Many also have unique powers, such as the ability to summon help or cast devastating area-effect magic.
However, with great risk comes great reward. Nearly all adept loot grows with experience, often reaching levels of power that far outmatch farmable or buyable equipment.
The engage level cap means that you can only join the fight against the adept if it is 3 or more levels above you. Another way to think of this limit is that an adept may only be engaged if it cons red or the highest possible yellow in comparison to your own level. For example, a level 15 adept-flagged monster can only be attacked by player characters of level 12 and under. This "engage level" is very strict and none of the following actions can be taken by players above the engage level:
- directly engaging the adept in melee, range or magical combat;
- buffing a player below the engage cap (the high level player cannot cast buff while the fight is underway and if the low level player has a buff on him cast by the high level player, he will not be able to engage the adept);
- healing the low level player through any means;
- taking any other action that would get the high level player to be added to the adept's hate list.
It is not possible to engage an adept with more than 12 players.
