A more difficult escort mission in the same vein as A Bug on the Wall, where you "should gather friends to help ... protect another of Gimble's unusual machines from harm".
You follow the odd contraption west somewhat, where it then starts to do it's job, digging up corpses. From here frenzied shadows spawn all over and you have to defend the area against waves of them. Recommended you have 2 groups at least for this, including an aoe tank.
Walkthrough
Note: This escort quest involves killing mobs which are dark blue to 65 in steady waves. A small group is suggested, as well as having full health and mana before starting it.
Find Councillor Shar-el (Shadowdale at 1465, 2434, 299 •) .
Councillor Shar-el says, 'While you have collected all the stones I require, there is another matter which could benefit from your attention.'
You say, 'What other matter are you referring to?'
Shar-El sighs. 'Gimble has another one of his... devices... he wishes to deploy. I have agreed to assist despite the blasphemous nature of the plan, but the local spirits cannot be as easily mollified.'
You say, 'So you need me to guard the machine?'
Councillor Shar-el says, 'Essentially, yes. Tell me when you are ready. You may wish to bring allies, as failure will mean another long rebuilding process for the gnome. Then again, in light of that information, you may wish to try it alone.'

You say, 'I am ready.'
Councillor Shar-el says, 'Very well. I will signal Gimble. When he deploys his device, follow it and keep it safe from harm, no matter what happens around you. It must complete the experiment from start to end. Destroying the spirits is of secondary importance, though it may be unavoidable.'

Note: It makes no difference if you begin this quest by talking to either Gimble or Shar-el.
Find Gimble Highsprocket (Shadowdale at 1484, 2307, 297 •) .
You say, 'Hail, Gimble Highsprocket'
Gimble Highsprocket says, 'Good day to you! Come to help, have you? We can always use more able minds.'
You say, 'How can I help?'
Gimble Highsprocket says, 'Glad you asked. We've been working on an expiriment here for a while, and I think we're about ready to deploy it, but we're really more about tinkering than fighting.'
You say, 'Is that where I come in?'
Gimble Highsprocket says, 'Indeed. The machine we've built will... well, you'll see, but the odds are good that the local spirits won't take kindly to it. When you're ready, I'll deploy it--just be sure to keep it in one piece!'
You say, 'I'm ready, deploy the machine.'
Gimble Highsprocket says, 'Here goes nothing!'
A Terrarippling Exhuminator spawns and after a moment takes off to the north-west.
The Terrarippling Exhuminator lurches into motion, stumbling over to the Rivervale entrance.
The Terrarippling Exhuminator strikes the ground with its feet. A deep thump sounds throughout the forest, shaking the trees and sending animals running for cover. Small ripples of energy expand away from the device, sinking into the ground.
A deep, mournful horn sounds from the bowels of the Terrarippling Exhuminator. The spirits of Rivervale begin to approach.
Wave after wave of a frenzied shadow will attack. Kill them while defending the Terrarippling Exhuminator.
The machine's experiment is complete! Quickly, retrieve the experiment data before the machine is destroyed!
Note: Immediately hail the machine when you see this emote. Waves will continue to spawn until you say '-Retrieve the experiment data-'
You reach into the robot's chassis and retrieve the data. Gimble will be very pleased to get it.
Return to Gimble Highsprocket.
You say, 'Hail, Gimble Highsprocket'
Gimble Highsprocket says, 'Oh happy day, you've brought me the expiriment results!' Gimble claps his hands gleefully. When he stops, you hand him the reams of paper. 'This will teach us so much about the spirits here. Thank you, <Player Name>. I'll be sure to report this to the Council!'
You gain faction experience!!
