Walkthrough

Find Junior Researcher Nablet (Heartland Plateau  •) .

You say, 'Hail, Junior Researcher Nablet'
Junior Researcher Nablet appears to be intently studying the worn pedestal in front of her, occasionally letting out a 'hmm' or scribbling something in a book with worn covers.
You say, 'Can I be of assistance, Researcher?'
Junior Researcher Nablet looks up as you speak, 'Well! You're the new Associate, aren't you? You most certainly can be of assistance. You see..." she gestures at the pedestal, "... this pedestal appears to be some kind of mechanical construct that is able to keep a flame burning practically forever. I have not detected any magic about it, so it must be powered through some sort of external source... I'd like to find out what.'
You say, 'Do you have any guesses?'
Junior Researcher Nablet nods several times, 'Oh yes, yes I do. I think that the key to powering might be the essence of a wisp. The light carries certain spectral similarities with that which wisps emanate and... ahh nevermind. Just get me the essence of one of the greater wisps that inhabit the forest.'

Greater Wisp Essence

Gather and give Greater Wisp Essence to Junior Researcher Nablet.

Note: Drop rate of the essence is uncommon and wisp are also rare in the zone. It appears they are on the same timer as other roaming mobs. Druids can track them. The spell Sense Elemental can NOT track them.
Junior Researcher Nablet says, 'Yes, yes, this is what I need... let's see...'
Junior Researcher Nablet places the wisp essence in a slot on the side of the pedestal. Nothing seems to happen, and she lets slip a curse, 'Damn...' she turns back to you, 'Well, that didn't work... but I have another idea! Yes. It might be powered in the same way as the derelict clockworks that roam about the forest. I want you to get me two power cores - one from a pounder and one from a guardian. Please don't disturb the ones in the temple, the derelict ones will do just fine.'

Weakened Cores

Gather and give Junior Researcher Nablet:

  • Weakened Pounder Core
  • Weakened Guardian Core
Junior Researcher Nablet says, 'Yes, yes, this is what I need... let's see...'
Junior Researcher Nablet places both power cores into the slot. For a moment, the flame on the pedestal seems to become brighter, stronger, but it only lasts for a second. Nablet lets out a string of curses this time, glaring at the pedestal, 'Gahhh... not enough power in those cores. Blast it all to... to a place where things blast a lot! I don't CARE if we're not really supposed to disturb the clockworks around the temple, their power cores might be stronger. Go to the temple and get me uh... four power cores. Yes, four should do the trick! One from a guardian, one from a pounder, and two from those scavengers. Just don't give me any more of these derelict cores, they're useless!'

Ancient Cores

Gather and give Junior Researcher Nablet:

  • Ancient Guardian Core
  • Ancient Pounder Core
  • Ancient Scavenger Core x 2
Note: Turning in One (1) Scavenger Core has worked successfully as well.
Note: It is a good idea to loot Prototype Codex I while you're at it, you'll need it later...
Junior Researcher Nablet says, 'Yes, yes, this is what I need... let's see...'
Junior Researcher Nablet jams all four power cores into the slot. They barely fit. For a moment, nothing happens, and then the pedestal suddenly emanates a violent burst of flame that rises up to the ceiling of the cave, scorching it. As the flame settles again, it looks stronger, brighter. Nablet lets out a whoop, 'I did it! Uh... we did it! Thanks, Associate... I'll put in a good word for you with the chief. She begins furiously writing in her little book, paying you no more attention.

You gain faction experience!!
