Return to Tarhansar the Deep One (Caverns of the Deep One  at 1087, -798, -557  •) .

You say, 'Hail, Tarhansar the Deep One'
Tarhansar the Deep One says, 'Know this... I cannot let them know... all that you have discovered... not all at once... If they act against my interests- They arrive... imminently. Stay silent... and listen to the ebb and flow... the water never lies...'
You say, 'I shall Deep One.'
Some time passes, when all at once a chill runs down your spine. It would appear Shojar has arrived...
Tarhansar the Deep One says, 'Do not claim ignorance Shojar. It is an impossibility that you are not aware of the events that occur on the surface of Dalaya. It is an impossibility that you are not behind them in some manner! I shall tell you only once, leave my followers be! Or there shall be war between us!'
Shojar the Cold One seems amused, 'Tarhansar. How I have missed your impulsiveness. Not since you dueled Enthann, sword to trident, have you shown such spirit. Your Master is pleased by this. But I am displeased by your threats. You don't threaten me Tarhansar. No one threatens me.'
At once the area becomes a whirl of motion again, the currents coalescing into a female shape. It would seem Althuna has arrived.'
Shojar the Cold One seems annoyed, 'Runt, taking on a mortal form as always. Is this your plan Tarhansar? Do you really think I fear an alliance between you and the weakest of the water spirits?'
Althuna the Healing Hand scowls, 'I do not take kindly to what you have done to my people Shojar. We have an agreement, and I know that unlike some here, that means something to you.'
Tarhansar the Deep One says, 'Agreement indeed. Young one I know you are aligned with Shojar. Your agents have worked against my own. Deirdre-'
Althuna the Healing Hand shouts, 'Do not dare tell accuse my loyal Paladins of misdeeds Tarhansar. I trust them all, implicitly.'
Starting at Tarhansar, the water between the Three swirl, and images of your encounters with Deirdre and Dereck Grey occur. Althuna looks shocked and begins to weave the waves as well.
Starting at Althuna, the water between the Three swirl, and images of a fierce battle on the Sundered Mountains appear. Her agents face Temptation fighting for the soul of a Dark Elf, Kiera. Again and again a Cold Master is mentioned by the enemy. The same enemy you have faced.
Althuna the Healing Hand says, 'As you can see Tarhansar, this Temptation has caused me much grief as well. So Cold One? What say you to all this. Admit that you are behind this, that you have broken your treaty. I know many spirits that would love an excuse to unmake you.'
Shojar the Cold One seems amused, 'Runt. I wonder who then would hold Tarhyl in check? Does mercy burn, I wonder?'
Tarhansar the Deep One says, 'So you admit your involvement Shojar? The cold, the undead. It reads you completely. In league with Marlow perhaps?'
Shojar the Cold One seems annoyed, 'Tarhansar. While Marlow is related to this, it is not as an antagonist. The Dreamers absence is felt by all, and is certainly related to the corruption. But I shall assure you, mine is not the hand that guides this plot.'
Starting at Shojar, the water between the Three swirl, and images of a seemingly endless army of shadows and abominations ransacking an icy palace occur. Many frost golems and ice giants fall to this assault. A number of Sons of the Deep hold the line.
Shojar the Cold One seems amused, 'Tarhansar. Runt. This occurs as we speak, yet here I am, so much do I care about my estranged servants. '
Althuna the Healing Hand seems fearful, 'So then... it is something else?'
Tarhansar the Deep One says, 'Shojar... could the... Thazeran's Tower?'
Shojar the Cold One seems angered, 'ENOUGH! We shall discuss this, but the topic is NOT for mortal ears.'
All at once the water pressure around you dramatically increases, you lose consciousness for who knows how long. When you come too, only Tarhansar remains.
You say, 'Hail, Tarhansar the Deep One'
Tarhansar the Deep One says, 'I apologize... But you seem unharmed... speak now... what of Frankie.'
You say, 'Wait, Thazeran's Tower? What happened while I was passed out?'
Tarhansar the Deep One becomes angry, 'This is not something you need to concern yourself with!'
You say, '[Explain the fate of Frankie]'
Tarhansar the Deep One says, 'This is grave. And that he is petrified and not outright killed, is proof that this is a trap for someone else. Probably you. Yet, aside from you Frankie is my most capable agent. We must do all in our power to restore him.'
You say, 'Just tell me what to do.'
Tarhansar the Deep One pauses a moment, the water around him swirling rapidly. 'I have spoken to Elder Bremm, and he believes he knows how to reverse this. A vial of Distilled Terror, a Petrified Dragons Heart, and an Anti-Magic Carp. Use these items on the victim, and he should be restored. But be prepared <Player Name>. I am trepidatious...'
You say, 'Distilled Terror? Is such a thing possible?'
Tarhansar the Deep One says, 'If Bremm believes it to be, I too believe. Terror in such a pure form reminds me of the tragedy of the Eldenal family. Perhaps you can start your search there.'
You say, 'Petrified Dragon's Heart? Why not just bring an entire dragon while I'm at it!'
Tarhansar the Deep One says, 'It shall be difficult. A dragon is a terrifing thing in life, but those hearts live and pump blood. What you need is a dragon beyond death.'
You say, 'Anti-Magic what?'
Tarhansar the Deep One says, 'Just as I say. I know the creature yet exists, but it is not in any pool of water connected to me. Some small pool, isolated, and in a place where magic is countered and absorbed. Best bring your fishing pole.'
You say, 'Did we learn anything worthwhile at that meeting?'
Tarhansar the Deep One says, 'That we can at least trust that Althuna and Shojar are not involved. We may not know the enemy, but we have shrunk the potential pool. And a possible motive.'
You say, 'So that talk of Thazeran's Tower?'
Tarhansar the Deep One says, 'Do not speak of the tower again in my presence <Player Name>.'

Collect the following give them to the petrified Frankie Furfoot:

  • Distilled Terror
  • Petrified Dragon Heart
  • Anti-Magic Carp

If you re-hail Tarhansar, he instructs you to return the items to him, Bremm, or his projection, none of these NPCs will accept the items. /bug reported 3/23/2015

Frankie Furfoot skin slowly regains color and he groans wearily. 'Oi, I don't feel so good... <Player Name>? What happened?

You gain 75000 experience!!

You say, 'Frankie, listen to me we don't have time to waste. We have to get out of here!'
Frankie Furfoot says, 'I... what... I remember Temptation and- <Player Name> are we in trouble? I think I got a gate potion around here somewhere...'
(NOTE: You feel very anxious. Like whatever happens next, there will be no second chances. It might be a good idea to find 5 close friends to help...)
Note: Despite what the quest text suggests, if you fail to keep Frankie alive, you can restart the event with no penalty.
Ok Frankie, drink that and lets get out of here!
Frankie Furfoot chugs the potions. 'Hey whats with this thing... I... I don't feel so good...'
Frankie doubles over in pain!
Temptation shouts, 'Checkmate <Player Name>! I told you I'd make you suffer. That potion isn't a Rapid Return. It's far worse. A Green Muse if you would. Frankie is going to be one of us. All he needs to do is die. And I'm going to ensure that happens!

Temptation, Daughter of Dis spawns increasingly more powerful waves of undead from the previous events.

Frankie Furfoot says, 'Oi... don't let those things kill me <Player Name>... I don't wanna be one of them!'
Frankie Furfoot says, 'Almost... just a bit more...'
Temptation shouts, 'NO! You are NOT stronger than me! You are NOT going to beat me!'
Frankie gates to safety!
Temptation, Daughter of Dis says, 'No! NO! NOO! You don't get to win! You do NOT get to escape! I WIN! NOT YOU! You think you've beaten me? You think you and your weak God can out maneauver me? All of Tarhansars followers will pay! I'm going to attack the Snow Gnolls of Frostfang AND the Othmir of Wyvernfang coast! You'll only have time to save one. Which will it be <Player Name>! You can't save everybody!'
Note: You may choose between the Snow Gnolls, the Othmir, or returning to Tarhansar to ask for his help.

Saving the Snow Gnolls

You say, 'Hail, Huntmaster Renvex'
Huntmaster Renvex licks it's lips.
You say, 'I come on behalf of Tarhansar! You are all in grave danger!'
Huntmaster Renvex barks. 'Go by town! Near tree! Find Elder! Elder know what do!'
You say, 'Hail, a gnoll elder'
a gnoll elder says, 'We sense great evil outsider. Does Tarhansar send you to aid us?'
You say, 'Yes I am here to help. You need to get to safety before-'
A darkness decends...
Volatile Horror shouts, '<Player Name>! The Cold Master wishes for you to suffer most!'

Kill a Volatile Horror.

Volatile Horror shouts, 'Master! I've failed you!'

(NOTE: If you fail you can trigger the event again by talking to Huntmaster Renvex which will respawn the elders for you to start the event with)

Saving the Othmir

You say, 'Hail, Mystic Techek'
Mystic Techek says, 'I greet you, outlander. This is the home of the Othmir, and I am the leader of all Othmir. If you wish to have friendly dealings with us, you shall leave us in peace, and perhaps aid us against the terrors of the grotto, yes?'
You say, 'On behalf of Tarhansar, I come with a warning! Rally your warriors before it is too late!'
Mystic Techek says, 'Are you certain? The Deep one has never led us astray before... how much time do you think we have?'

Option 1

You say, 'Probably none, prepare this moment.
Mystic Techek nods and takes out a horn. All the Othimir on the beach don stronger armor. 'That should give us a fighting chance at least...'

(NOTE: Keep as many Othimir alive as you can manage. Mystic Techek MUST live. The more survivors, the more bonus GOOD and CHAOS points you will receive.)

MISSING TEXT

Option 2

You say, 'You have a few moments, which I'll use to prepare as well.'
MISSING TEXT

Returning to Tarhansar

You say, 'Hail, Projection of the Deep'
Projection of the Deep says, '<Player Name>. What is happening on Dalaya? The tides tell me nothing. It is as if a great force is suppressing the flow. Frankie has already returned, what is happening?'
You say, 'Temptation is about to attack the Snow Gnolls and the Othimir. I can't be in two places at once! What should I do?'
Projection of the Deep nods, 'We have no time to waste then, I'll deploy Frankie to the Othimir and you-'
You say, 'Is something wrong?'
Projection of the Deep says, 'It... it's too late. In coming back to me, any window of opportunity you may have had to act is gone. They are all dead.'
You say, 'I'm sorry. All I can do to make amends is make Deirdre pay for her crimes against us.'
Projection of the Deep lets out a burst of frigid air. 'In this we are in agreement. Before she can act again, she must be stopped. To stop her from hurting anyone further, you have my blessing. Defeat her. Return to her home in Kelethin and put a stop to her. I will lend support through your pearl.'

Go to Kelethin in search of Deirdre Grey.

You say, 'Hail, Dereck Grey'
Dereck Grey says, 'Greetings. I am Dereck Grey. My wife Deirdre is in the other room. Have you spoken yet?'
Dereck Grey seems to be holding back...
A voice speaks from your pearl. 'Hold your anger <Player Name>, he's fighting... something. He may be able to assist us in finding Temptation.'
You say, 'Where is Deirdre! She must be stopped! What is she planning!'
Dereck Grey holds his blade hand back. 'S...S... ALTHUNA HELP ME IT'S SO COLD!'
A power pulses from your pearl. You hold it towards Dereck Grey.
You say, 'Tell me where she went, fight this! Whatever it is!'
Dereck Grey seems to be a bit more in control. 'She... it's an escape clause... in case the worse happens. A hole.'
You say, 'What are you saying? How is that bad? Can we stop it?'
Dereck Grey starts to fight himself again. 'S... Seal the hole. He... He doesn't accept failure... she wouldn't dare tell him...'
You say, 'He? The Cold Master?'
Dereck Grey screams. 'If the hole exists... he can never be defeated... he'll just come... back... out... if you want it to end... force the hole c.. c... closed. The elements...'
You say, 'Just tell me how, before you lose yourself.'
Dereck Grey seems to fall into a trance. 'a ruler of fire near the source of it's HEART. burns those who dare step close.'
You say, 'What is this? A riddle?'
Dereck Grey continues to speak. 'lain to rest besides his kin beneath their manor, yet the CROWN sleeps alone. frozen and alone forever.'
You say, 'I don't like where this is going.'
Dereck Grey continues to speak. 'far beneath the swaMp of death, earth that shoUldn't moves again, harDens the entrance with resolve.'
You say, 'Why can't you just tell me directly!'
Dereck Grey continues to speak, but his pace slows. 'in the deepest shade, before the leap of faith, AERIE wisps exist. keeps you at the cusp'
You say, 'And then what? Where is she?'
Dereck Grey screams again. 'NO MORE! NO MORE! LET ME DIE AT LAST!'
Dereck Grey died.
A voice speaks from your pearl. 'We won't get more than that <Player Name>. I'll monitor the tides, you find these four objects Dereck spoke of. I shall think about the clues as well, perhaps together we can figure them out. When you find everything, bring them to my projection immediately. We may not know the nature of our enemy, but if this can give him pause, we shall do it.'

Collect the following give them to the Projection of the Deep:

  • Heart of the First Fire
  • Crown of the Coldest Night
  • Animated War Mud
  • Aerie Wisp of Faith
Projection of the Deep emits a blast of fire, ice, air and earth, destroying the items you brought, yet revealing something new...

You receive Seal of the Four from Projection of the Deep.

You gain 175000 experience!!

You say, 'Hail, Projection of the Deep'
Projection of the Deep says, 'There is little time to explain. Know that I consulted with powers greater than either of us, and they are lending their aid. The shadows WILL be pushed back and defeated. The Cold Master WILL be made to pay! And YOU will be the weapon that strikes the blow!'
You say, 'Just point me in the right direction.'
Projection of the Deep says, 'There exists an island of sand in a sea of ice. Find it and you find her. Bring the Seal, and do whatever it takes to stop her ritual.'

Final Confrontation Temptation, Daughter of Dis

(NOTE: This fight may vary depending on which option you chose previously. The following is based on saving the Othmir)

Approach the Sandy Island in Frosthorn Coast (3900,-19730,90):

As you approach the island you can hear chanting in a language you don't recognize. It grows louder as you approach but abruptly stops as your feet touch the sand
You say, 'Hail, Temptation, Daughter of Dis'
Temptation, Daughter of Dis says, 'You are persistent, <Player Name> but you're too late; The ritual nears completion. '
You say, 'Do you think I'm here to watch? You murdered the frost gnolls!'
Temptation, Daughter of Dis snickers.
Temptation, Daughter of Dis says, 'It doesn't matter why you're here. You're too late to stop me.'
You say, 'You WILL pay for what you've done.'
Temptation, Daughter of Dis says, 'We'll see about that. FOR THE COLD MASTER!'

You must defeat Temptation, Daughter of Dis which is a multi wave fight.

  6. Shade of Saosos, Shade of Chrusam, and Shade of Poltas
  7. Temptation, Daughter of Dis and Dereck Grey

(NOTE: The Pale Gnolls are shamans which can be snared and mesmerized. The shades and Renvex cannot be snared and mesmerized and each has their own special attack. It is recommended to kill Shade of Saosas first as it has a massive aoe. During the shade phase players will be randomly teleported, one at a time, across the island. Shade of Poltas does not summon and should be kited)

You say, 'Hail, Temptation, Daughter of Dis'
Temptation, Daughter of Dis says, 'I WAS SUPPOSED TO WIN'
You say, 'In this chaotic world very rarely do things go as planned.'
Temptation, Daughter of Dis says, 'The ritual...'
You say, 'It's over. You've lost.'
Temptation, Daughter of Dis says, 'What will you do to me?'
You say, '*Use the seal*'
Temptation, Daughter of Dis says, 'What... is this...'
A dark cloud appears before you; when it dissipates Temptation is gone.
