Walkthrough
Find Brother Sinqual (Dreadlands at 708, 9729, 1068 • Refuge) .
You say, 'Hail, Brother Sinqual'
Brother Sinqual says, 'So you are the one everyone is praising lately eh? <Player Name> the Brave. <Player Name> the Strong. <Player Name> the one who brought us all that worm meat. You are that <Player Name> correct?'
- [D1]
You say, 'Yes, I didn't realize I was that well liked.'
Brother Sinqual says, 'Well beware. A reputation works both ways. Yours apparently means blind trust is the order of the day.'
- [D2]
You say, 'No, that must be someone else.'
Brother Sinqual says, 'Well beware. A reputation works both ways. Yours apparently means blind trust is the order of the day.'
You say, 'Is something wrong?'
Brother Sinqual says, 'Indeed. After the little stunt you assisted in pulling by the Citadel, patrols are up from here to old Ikild!'
You say, 'My stunt? You were at the meeting! And if I recall Brother Sortel spoke out not you.'
Brother Sinqual says, 'I was not at liberty to speak then, but I am now. I'd also like to state that I was against you coming in with us at all. We were doing quite fine before you and your ilk decided to excite the place up.'
- [D1] - Chaotic (+2)
You say, 'Excitment indeed! Shaking up the status quo is what I do. Embrace change or be left behind.'
Brother Sinqual yawns, 'Your philosophy bores me. But we do have work to do, and you are all they are letting me utilize.'
- [D2] - Lawful Shift?
You say, 'I've done everything to respect your rules and society. Preserving what you've built is my utmost goal.'
Brother Sinqual yawns, 'Your philosophy bores me. But we do have work to do, and you are all they are letting me utilize.'
- [D3] - Neutral or No Shift?
You say, 'I'm not going to ramble philosophy to you. Not when you clearly have work for me to do.'
Brother Sinqual says, 'Fine, as I don't wish to hear your philosophy. But we do indeed have work to do, and you are all they are letting me utilize.'
You say, 'What work needs to be done?'
Brother Sinqual says, 'We need to know what they know. And we need to limit what they know as well. Kair`got and Rorlna have decided on this, and thus it shall be.'
You say, 'You don't seem like you like those two much.'
Brother Sinqual says, 'Well <Player Name>, they were both important people in the Kaezulian army at one point or another. And now they call the shot here. So no, I'm not naive if that's what you mean.'
You say, 'So I should speak to Kair`got and Rorlna?'
Brother Sinqual says, 'Rorlna yes, but Kair`got is still far to valuable an asset for us to risk someone like you talking to. However I am apparently quite expendable, so it'll fall to me to brief you.'
You say, 'Ok so give me the briefing already.'
Brother Sinqual says, 'Ok listen up. I don't like repeating myself. Nazdrak may be so sure that your Gruplok cover is going to work, but as far as we can tell, patrols are up, but Gruplok oppression is, if anything, down. That tells me they don't buy it, and I want to know what they think. Citadel itself isn't actually going to be your concern though, I got someone else working on that one. Instead I need you to return to the Bloodied Quarry, and hunt there. Find anything, memos, journals, cave wall painting if you have too. I need definitive proof that these patrols are at least random, and not focused on us. They'd be be unique as well. Bring me back everything you find, all at once, so I know its all recent.'
Your journal has been updated. [Complications]
Journal Text: Sinqual is really starting to grate on my nerves. He wishes for me to go to the Bloodied Quarry, and return with written journals about patrols in the nearby areas. I bet four different sources should satisfy him.
Gather and give Brother Sinqual:
- Burnt Journal
- Foremans Journal
- Patrol Journal
- Soldiers Journal
Brother Sinqual says, 'Hmm, very good. Take these to Vrik for further research if you wouldn't mind, he'll reward you for them specifically. You can usually find him in Torsch's building at night. Frankly it's a lot to go through here...'
Your faction standing with The Slave Rebellion has gotten better!
You gain 50,000 experience!!
Your journal has been updated. [Complications]
Journal Text: I've returned all the information I could find to Brother Sinqual. He's proven about as grateful as I expected he would be.
Brother Sinqual returned Burnt Journal to you.
Brother Sinqual returned Foremans Journal to you.
Brother Sinqual returned Patrol Journal to you.
Brother Sinqual returned Soldiers Journal to you.
Note: As Brother Sinqua tells you, you should now take the journals to Vrik the Sly. See Finding Wisdom for more information.
You say, 'I don't think we are in any danger from the patrols yet.'
Brother Sinqual scowls. 'If I wanted your opinions I'd- I don't want your opinions. Go finish helping Rorlna.'
You say, 'I don't think we are in any danger from the patrols yet.'
Brother Sinqual scowls. 'Yeah, well as it turns out we have some bigger problems, and possibly solutions.'
You say, 'Sounds important.'
Brother Sinqual says, 'The orcs <Player Name>. The orcs are finally communicating with us!'
You say, 'Orcs? Why wouldn't they have been in contact before, aren't you on the same side?'
Brother Sinqual says, 'Yes and no. I don't know what you learn out in Dalaya, but the Orcs were one of the great powers of ancient Ikisith. If you take into account their numbers and strength they could probably crush Kaezul themselves.'
You say, 'Whats stopping them?'
Brother Sinqual says, 'By Elael how dense are you? The Mist of course. The Mist doesn't care about your numbers, they are meaningless. You can't beat the Mist, you can only flee or die. And Orcs don't flee from anything.'
You say, 'Why are they contacting you now? Why not sooner?'
Brother Sinqual says, 'I... I suppose they know what you've been up too, and think we are ready to fight.'
- [D1] - Evil (+2)
You say, 'So again the wheels turn easier with a little blood. Your caution has been holding you back, while my killing is opening many doors.'
Brother Sinqual says, 'Shut your trap. You got results, but that doesn't mean I was wrong.'
- [D2] - Good Shift?
You say, 'Sometimes fighting is the only right choice. When facing an evil like Kaezul, doing nothing is equally evil.'
Brother Sinqual says, 'Perhaps. Or perhaps we'd have been wiped out if not for our caution. It's impossible to say.'
- [D3] - Neutral or No Shift?
You say, 'I won't comment, its not important.'
Brother Sinqual says, 'Yes, sorry lost myself for a moment.'
You say, 'Lets move on, tell me more about this potential ally.'
Brother Sinqual says, 'Well I'm no Orc expert, you should ask Azzyk about that later if you are curious. What I do know is that they have a tough leader, whose united all the major tribes. They reside mostly in the cursed woods they call, the Tears of Elael. The less said about that place the better. The Orcs respect strength, no matter who shows it, and wish to dominate Ikisith again. That's been our major bone of contention with them... if we could beat Kaezul, it would not be so we could be run by stinking Orcs!'
You say, 'So what do they want with us exactly?'
Brother Sinqual says, 'We don't know, it's literally been decades since they last spoke with us. We have to handle this delicatly... is what I'd like to do, but instead they are sending you.'
You say, 'Say what?'
Brother Sinqual says, 'Ya. Kair`got seems to believe that since you were most likely responsible for them seeking us out again, they'd be most likely to also respond favorably to things you've said. Once again, I don't know Orcs, but Azzyk does. Your orders are as follows. Find out as much as you can about Orcs, and how to deal with them from Azzyk, and when you think your ready, come talk to me. This could be our only opportunity to ever really ally properly with the Orcs'
Your journal has been updated. [Complications]
Journal Text: So now I'm an ambassador apparently... Sinqual has told me to speak with Azzyk about Orc culture, and then return to him when I think I'm prepared.
Gather Information
Find Scout Leader Azzyk (Dreadlands at 1200, 8900, 1050 • Refuge) .
You say, 'I'm told you know a thing or two about Orcs. I want to know everything.'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'Aw man where to start. I was raised with Orcs so to speak, and used to raid with them on occasion before the whole Rujik revolution. I probably know more than any non Orc about them.'
You say, 'Can you tell me about their tribes?'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'Ah yes that's important. Thought they are united, each tribe has its own moors and tendencies. You never know who you'll run into, so best be prepared. I know a bit about each of the major tribes, them being the Rujik, Ghan, Gan, Tar`loc, Darksun, Karl`tan, Shar`nok, and Ju`bor tribes. There are other minor tribes, but those are the ones they'd likely send out on anything important.'
You say, 'Tell me more about the Rujik tribe.'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'Ah the Rujiks... they were once the Dawn Tribe, back when I ran with them. No more though. The Rujiks are the leading clan, Warchieftan Rujik is in charge of it. They are frightening for Orcs... they have enchanters! Only tribe to have that. Thankfully Rujik tribe members rarely venture out into really dangerous areas, so you'd likely only find them within Tur`Rujik. They are very devout, and traces of the Dawn Tribe influence can still be found within them.'
You say, 'Tell me more about the Ghan tribe.'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'They are the Spiritual warriors of the Orcs. They commune with nature and have incredible self control. They honor their ancestors and the dead more than anything else, and tend to dress in uncured animal skins and hides. Most don't use weapons, instead killing aptly with their fists, or pets. Undead are abhorent to them.'
You say, 'Tell me more about the Gan tribe.'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'Gan are a splinter tribe of the Ghan. What the Ghan are, the Gan aren't. They are made up of unholy warriors and necromancers. They are also the only tribe that doesn't believe in Elael. Kind of crazy I know. The other tribes only tolerate them, and the Ghan actively hunted them before Rujik took over. If they weren't so powerful they'd probably have been wiped out by now.'
You say, 'Tell me more about the Tar`loc tribe.'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'The Tar`loc are Orc's who have attuned with the tears of Elael. They command his flames to do their bidding, raining fiery death to the enemies of the Alliance. They aren't exactly devout, and realize power is more than just big muscles.'
You say, 'Tell me more about the Darksun tribe.'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'These guys are new. Mostly made up of Orcs from Dalaya, captured and shipped back. They are the servants of the other tribes. Any of the other tribes would lose respect for you if you showed them any respect.'
You say, 'Tell me more about the Kal`tan tribe.'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'These guys are scary. They are fanatically devouted to Elael, and Rujik didn't need to convince them at all that he was divine. If you so much as pretend to utter a word aganist Elael, you'll have made enemies of them forever. They are also big on to sacrifices of all kinds, the bigger the better. All for the greater glory of Elael they believe.'
You say, 'Tell me more about the Shar`nok tribe.'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'The Shar`nok were the last tribe to bow to Rujik. They are honorable <Player Name>, their word is everything, and are made of mostly of Knights. They function as honor guards, and are always found and work in pairs if possible.'
You say, 'Tell me more about the Ju`bor tribe.'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'The Ju`bor are more giant or Ogre than Orc if you ask me. They are big, dumb, and strong. If you want to prove yourself to them, just need to show your as tough as them. Don't get on their bad side though, you'll regret it.'
You say, 'I need to know about their culture, how to impress them.'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'Impressing Orcs? Ah you were the one chosen as diplomat? Good luck <Player Name>... its proper to present the Orc diplomat and his two escorts each with a gift. If you don't have a gift then some quick conversation before business is prudent. All orcs have their own tastes, usually based on tribe, so you can ask me about the tribes if you like. Be strong at all times, and harsh if you have too. Orcs never retreat, but the smarter ones can compromise. I can't express enough, don't show weakness. And don't agree to anything you aren't sure about. They'll hold you too it.'
You say, 'Where would I find appropriate gifts?'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'That's tricky. It has to be something representative of us and our struggles, so anything would need to be local. Signs of strength, big game, food, weapons. Anything could work as long as you got it with your own two hands. If you aren't sure if a gift will be good, its best not to give anything and just talk to them instead. You may not win over any orcs, but its better than an insulting gift. If you'd like, show me anything you are considering a gift. I'll let ya know what I think of it.'
You say, 'What is this revolution you speak of?'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'A recentish development. The short version is this tough Orc shows up, and claims to be the physical body of Elael. Maybe he is... the stories I've heard... but he took over his tribe, and killed or exiled anyone who didn't follow him. Renamed the tribe after himself, the Rujik tribe. The Rujik tribe then goes and slowly conquers or annihilates every single other tribe. Now they are the Rujik alliance.'
You say, 'Physical body of Elael? Why is that important?'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'Elael is the only God that matters. I don't know how it is on Dalaya, but Elael rules Ikisith, and no one knows it better than the Orcs. Oh that reminds me, don't 'hail' the diplomat when you see him, at least not initially. 'Glory and Praise to Elael' is the more proper greeting, after that feel free to hail all you want. In any case Elael lets the weak die off, and allows the strong to grow stronger, and that is the Orc way.'
You say, 'Why would they fight each other when Kaezul is right at their door step?'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'That's the Orc way, <Player Name>. And honestly splintered they were never a real threat to him. If you think about it Rujik is a pretty smart guy. Divided we fall and all. If it weren't for the Goblins they may have a fighting chance on their own.'
You say, 'How do the goblins play in to all this?'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'Orcs hate Goblins. It's about that simple. Goblins are weaker than orcs, but far more numerous and a lot dumber. Think about that for a second. If either group would stop harassing the other, maybe things wouldn't be so bleak.'
You say, 'Just a quick run down of what I could expect during a diplomatic meeting.'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'Well, there are a few phases. Greetings are first, but make sure to only greet the diplomat. The escorts, and there will always be two of them, aren't to be dealt with until phase two, the gift exchange. You'll want something for everyone involved during that... that'll be the tricky part I imagine, as no one can know which tribes will be present. Could be two from the same tribe or two different tribes. You can and should small talk with the escorts during this phase, but they likely won't have gifts for you. Accepting gifts is customary, but you don't have to like them. Then it'll come back to the diplomat for phase three, the actual negotiations. Careful here, we are all counting on you. Finally the informal good byes. Expect to hear what they really think of you then, and be just as critical back. That's the short of it.'
Return to Brother Sinqual (Dreadlands at 708, 9729, 1068 • Refuge) .
You say, 'I am ready. Where am I meeting them.'
Brother Sinqual says, 'I sure hope you know what your doing. Remember, we are only interested in reasonable attacks. Hit and run isn't exactly Orc style, but if at all possible, shadow support would be best. You know our resources are limited... Elael help us this is a bad idea. Go north of the Citadel, in a grassy inlet. You can't miss it on your map. And be sure you are ready.'
Your journal has been updated. [Complications]
Journal Text: Time to meet the Orcs... our meeting spot is in a grassy inlet, north of the Citadel.
Diplomatic Meeting
Find a Rujik Diplomat (unknown zone • unknown loc) per Brother Sinqual's instruction.
Before long, the orc diplomats arrive...
Before long, the Orc diplomat and his escorts arrive...
You say, 'Glory and Praise to Elael'
a Rujik Diplomat nods approvingly. 'May his strength and light guide our every action.'
Note: There are many different dialogue options following this opening dialogue, believed to carry alignment hits. Choose yours wisely!
- [D1]
You say, 'I suppose its time to get down to business.'

- [D2]
You say, 'I've brought gifts for you and yours.'
a Rujik Diplomat grins in anticipation. 'This is good to hear.'
- [D3]
You say, '[Wait for him to continue]'
He appears to be doing the same.
- [D4]
You say, 'You speak well for an Orc.'
a Rujik Diplomat growls. 'You may not be aware of it, <Player Race>, but we Orcs have certain traditions we follow when tribal leaders meet. An exchange of gifts, as a show of good will in the coming negotiations.'
You say, 'Ah that is good, I've also brought gifts for you and yours.'
a Rujik Diplomat grins in anticipation. 'This is good to hear.'
Turn in the gifts, you might have gathered, to the Orcs.
Note: His response to the above will be different depending on how many gifts you give to him.
If given nothing:
You say, 'That is it for our gifts. I hope you find them satisfactory.'
a Rujik Diplomat grinds his teeth together. 'It is difficult to find anything satisfactory, when you give me nothing! We shall teach you proper orc traditions with our own gifts. Speak with us now to accept them.'
If given some gifts:
You say, 'That is it for our gifts. I hope you find them satisfactory.'
a Rujik Diplomat looks at his escorts for a moment. They say something in Orc, and he nods.
You say, 'Is something wrong?'
a Rujik Diplomat says nothing for a moment but finally continues. 'We have a gifts for you as well. Speak to us now.'
You say, 'Hail, a Tar'loc Escort'
a Tar'loc Escort says, 'It is not my duty to provide for you. As such I brought nothing.'
- [D1]
ou say, 'I don't want anything from you anyway.'
a Tar'loc Escort smirks, 'Juvenile'.
- [D2]
You say, 'You will show proper respect to my station, or you will pay the price.'
a Tar'loc Escort nods hastily, 'Very well. I'll remember that for next time.'
You say, 'Hail, a Rujik Diplomat'
a Rujik Diplomat grins at you, handing you a carved stick. 'It is a sacrifice to Elael! Made from the branch of a tree strong enough to survive direct impact with Elael's tears. When you need to borrow true strength, burn it.'
You receive Burnt Stick from a Rujik Diplomat.
- [D1]
You say, 'You got me a stick?'
a Rujik Diplomat pauses for a second, taken aback by your reaction. After a bit he and his escorts laugh heartily. 'I suppose we cannot just assume an outlander can see the value in this gift. Perhaps another time we can find you something more practical.'
- [D2]
You say, 'What magnificence! I shall put it next to my Tarhyl and Althuna sticks!'

You say, 'A worthy tribute. I accept this gift.'
a Rujik Diplomat nods, but doesn't seem that impressed by your reaction.
You say, 'I am finished accepting your gifts.'
a Rujik Diplomat looks at his escorts. They reply, again, in Orcish.
You say, 'I'm over here.'
a Rujik Diplomat looks back at you again. 'It is time to get back to the task at hand'.
You say, 'Of course, let us begin.'
a Rujik Diplomat begins, a vicious look suddenly on his face. 'I first bring greetings from our leader, master, and physical God, the avatar of Elael, Warchieftan Rujik Moktar.' he pauses here, awaiting a reaction.'

- [D4]

You say, 'If it leads to ending Kaezuls domination of everything, than we have room to talk.'
a Rujik Diplomat growls but nods, 'We can agree on that at least. But it is more complicated than just Kaezul we have other threats as well. I'm sure you are aware of the Yiv goblin tribe...'
- [D2]
You say, 'Yes, we are here today to talk about that. But there must be something more... what else brings the Orcs out.'
a Rujik Diplomat hesitates for a second, 'You are preceptive. We approach you not due to Kaezul specifically, though he is related. What I come to speak of is the Yiv goblin tribe.'
You say, 'Ah the crux of the matter. You can't deal with the goblins and Kaezul.'
a Rujik Diplomat growls, 'We can easily route the goblins, or keep pressure on Kaezul. Your continued existence is due to us ignoring the goblin threat, and as such, they are just as much an enemy to you as to us. Quite literally all that stands between us and the new Orc empire are these goblins.'
You say, 'To Azzerach with a new Orcish empire! We won't exchange one tyrant for another.'
a Rujik Diplomat laughs. 'We will only be tyrants to our slaves and servants. Stand with us, and you won't be amongst them. Challenge us, and yes, you will have much to fear when we are victorious. Join with us. Commit to exterminating the Yiv Goblin menace, and take your place under Orcish rule.'
You say, 'You bring up much to consider... I will take these demands to my leaders and they will respond officially.'
a Rujik Diplomat growls but nods. 'That is the best we can hope for given the nature of this meeting I suppose. I expect a favorable response.'
You say, 'We shall see.'
a Rujik Diplomat looks at you. 'Indeed. Dangerous days ahead <Player Race>... I don't envy you.'
Your journal has been updated. [Complications]
Journal Text: That was a bit tense... I hope I did a good job. Best to report back to Sinqual now.
Return to Brother Sinqual (Dreadlands at 708, 9729, 1068 • Refuge) .
You say, 'Hail, Brother Sinqual'
Brother Sinqual says, 'Azzyk and Kirix followed you to the metting...'
Note: His response to the above will be different depending on how well the meeting went.
You say, 'I think I see where this is going...'
Brother Sinqual says, 'Well... they don't hate us. That's about all I can say. They are not happy with you, and it is very unlikely we can use you as a bargaining chip in the future. Girix related most of the exchange, but if you wouldn't mind, I'd like to hear it from the co`dairs mouth so to speak...'
You say, 'I think I see where this is going...'
Brother Sinqual says, 'They said you did a very good job. There was room for improvement, yes, but the general consensus is that we should be in a favorable position when we meet with them next. Girix told me most of what was said, but if you wouldn't mind sharing as well...'
Your faction standing with The Slave Rebellion has gotten better!
You say, '[Explain in detail the entire meeting]'
Brother Sinqual nods solemnly. 'That's about what Girix and Azzyk also interpreted. We cannot realistically commit ourselves to purging the Yiv... why we have some rogue Yiv living and working amongst us. But you've done your part in that, so purge it from your mind for now. We'll handle the diplomacy from here.'
You say, 'So now what?'
Brother Sinqual says, 'Now we continue forward. There isn't much else we can do. Kair`got has mentioned in passing a special mission... perhaps if she trusts you enough she'll tell you about it herself. Otherwise I'd suggest talking to the other residents here, and seeing if there is anything they need help with.'
You receive Rebel Acquisition Token from Brother Sinqual.
You have completed a quest. [Complications]
Journal Text: I'm not sure I'm cut out to be a diplomat... but hopefully we'll secure an ally in this fight to come.
