Walkthrough
Find Sister Borlida (Dreadlands at 722, 9723, 1068 • Refuge) .
You say, 'Hail, Sister Borlida'
Sister Borlida says, 'I've been hoping you would stop by. Vrik and Nazdrak have uncovered a startling discovery, and it has been decided that we have no choice but to act.'
You say, 'Sounds important. What's it all about?'
Sister Borlida says, 'It very much is. We've caught wind that an inspector from Ikild is coming to see the new graduates at the Citadel of the Claw. His name is Brigadier General Revkis. He reports directly to General Ironscale.'
- [D1]
You say, 'Is this an assasination job? Isn't Rorlna is really the person for that kind of thing.'
Sister Borlida says, 'No not quite. You see it is traditional for the Brigadier General to speak to the recruits on the day they graduate. All recruits will be assembled outside the Citadel as he speaks. Killing just him would prove impossible.'
- [D2]
You say, 'Graduation you say? Sounds like there will be a lot of skilled soldiers present.'
Sister Borlida nods. 'More than you realize. You see it is traditional for the Brigadier General to speak to the recruits on the day they graduate. All recruits will be assembled outside the Citadel as he speaks.'
You say, 'So what part do I play.'
Sister Borlida says, 'We want them all dead. Every recruit. Every honor guard. Every graduate. Every escort. Everyone involved.'
- [D1]
You say, 'A full out open attack? Do we even have the supplies for that?'
Sister Borlida says, 'Not precisely, you see-'
- [D2]
You say, 'An open attack on the Citadel? Tell me we have Orc support or something!'

The sudden scream of a woman interrupts your conversation.
You say, 'What the-'
Sister Borlida says, 'That sounded like Darima. Elael help us all, get over there and investigate now!'
Your journal has been updated. [Allies and Enemies]
Journal Text: Whatever Borlida's plans are, they will have to wait, that scream was Darima's and she must be in trouble. Writing this down is in fact quite a waste of time, I gotta get over there!
You say, 'Hail, Sister Borlida'
Sister Borlida says, 'Elael help us all, get over to Darima and figure out what happened.'
Find Caretaker Darima (Dreadlands at 1212, 8887, 1065 • Refuge) .
You say, 'Hail, Caretaker Darima'
She appears to be uncouncious. She's losing a lot of blood from a stomach wound, that appears to have been made with a dagger or knife of some kind.
You say, 'Hail, Caretaker Kolsaz'
Caretaker Kolsaz ignores you.
You say, 'What happened? Is she going to be okay?'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'Kolsaz tell me she's going to be alright!'
a rebel civilian says, 'How could this happen! I thought we were safe here!'
Caretaker Torsch says, 'Please be okay Darima, please be okay. You gotta do something Kolsaz! You're the closest thing we have to a doctor here!'
a rebellion guard says, 'This is all my fault, I just ran off to get another blanket for her. If only I hadn't left my post.'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'Everything is gonna be fine. I'm here for ya Darima, can you hear me baby? I'm right here!'
a freeborn child says, 'Is Darima going to be alright? Is she? I don't want Darima to die!'
Caretaker Kolsaz shouts, 'Shut up all of you! I can't work like this and their is a killer and traitor amongst us. Azzyk, you and the guards lock down the valley. No one gets out. Torsch go to the scholars and tell them to be on the look out for any sign of transportation magic. Everyone else clear out of here! Except you <Player Name>, you speak to me right now.
You say, 'Hail, Caretaker Kolsaz'
Caretaker Kolsaz says, 'You aren't as emotionally invested as the rest of us, so that's why you get this job. Tell the council that Darima is suffering from multiple stab wounds. I see a foreign substance, likely some kind of poison, in the wounds. No weapon, no suspects. I'll try to stabilize her. Go now. Quickly. And get your work gloves on, because you'll have plenty to do if this is what I think it is.'
Your journal has been updated. [Allies and Enemies]
Journal Text: Okay, Darima has been attacked. This has very bad implications. Kolsaz has told me to report to the council. I'll see what they have to say about this.
You say, 'Hail, Caretaker Kolsaz'
Caretaker Kolsaz says, 'Hurry you dolt! I'll need to speak to you again as soon as you finish.'
Return to Sister Borlida (Dreadlands at 722, 9723, 1068 • Refuge) .
You say, 'Hail, Sister Borlida'
Sister Borlida says, '<Player Name>, what happened out there!'
You say, '[Explain what Kolsaz told you.]'
Sister Borlida says, 'Impossible. This cannot be. Kolsaz is taking proper action, but this is unprecedented...'
You say, 'You've never had a traitor before?'
Sister Borlida says, 'Don't be daft. Of course we have. But most tend to try and run to Ikild, or turn themselves in at the Citadel. Agents who have infiltrated and attack our people though? No this is new, and frightening... how much do they know. How long have they been here. Who is it!'
You say, 'Kolsaz said he needed me, so if we don't have anything else to discuss.'
Sister Borlida looks at you for a long moment. 'Very well. We need Darima, for the services she provides, and for morale reasons. Do whatever he needs to get her well. But, the mission I started to discuss previously? It will happen, so time is of the essence. The graduation waits for no one.
Your journal has been updated. [Allies and Enemies]
Journal Text: Ok I'm clear to speak to Kolsaz. Seems this other mission isn't going to be delayed at all though. I'd best hurry up with Kolsaz before we lose our window.
Crafting the Cure
Find Caretaker Kolsaz (Dreadlands at 1038, 9258, 1068 • Refuge) .
You say, 'Hail, Caretaker Kolsaz'
Caretaker Kolsaz says, 'Finally you've arrived. We have issues. Big issues.'
- [D1]
You say, 'First, how is Darima? I see you aren't with her anymore.'
Caretaker Kolsaz says, 'She is stabilized. Until we get a real cure, she'll just be hanging on at best. And the longer she stays in that state, the more likely permanent damage will occur.'
You say, 'It's a poison right? Can't a cure poison just be cast on her?'
Caretaker Kolsaz shakes his head. 'If only it were that simple. It is far from just a poison.
You say, 'I don't like the sound of that.'
Caretaker Kolsaz sighs. 'Come a bit closer. I do not want anyone to know this, but due to the lock down only you'll be able to help so... we play with what we got. Still keep this on the quiet side.
- [D2]
You say, 'Issues? I don't like the sound of that.'
Caretaker Kolsaz sighs. 'Come a bit closer. I do not want anyone to know this, but due to the lock down only you'll be able to help so... we play with what we got. Still keep this on the quiet side.
You say, 'I'm listening.'
Caretaker Kolsaz whispers, 'How familiar are you with the Hierophant?'
You say, 'I don't know specifics, but I'm familiar with his handiwork.'
Caretaker Kolsaz whispers, 'Well we have something of a history. Let's just say I recognize his work when I see it, and this so called poison is his.'
You say, 'What does that mean for the rebellion?'
Caretaker Kolsaz whispers, 'Very bad things. In the short term, Darima is not going to die. It's going to be much worse. I don't know how he's done it, but that venom has some obvious magical properties. Necromantic properties to be precise. If she dies from that, she's coming back as some sort of zombie by my guess. Knowing the hierophant she'll also be able to spread it to everyone else here.'
You say, 'What are our options?'
Caretaker Kolsaz whispers, 'Last resort? We kill Darima and dispose of the body. We'll have to restrain Azzyk of course. But that won't help us if whoever used this weapon on her is still here. And even if we find the traitor, someone else will be struck sooner or later. We need a solution. And I have a plan for it.'
You say, 'Right, what's the plan?'
Caretaker Kolsaz whispers, 'The hierophant primarily works with diseases, not poisons. If the vector he's using is a poison, it's because he doesn't want it spreading uncontrollably. That means he doesn't understand it, and if he doesn't understand it, that means he didn't make it. I've taken blood samples from Darima and created this sample. Here are five to start with, but I have plenty more. If you need more tell me.'
You receive Unknown Venom Sample x 5 from Caretaker Kolsaz.
- [D1]
You say, 'That's all fine and well, but what do I do with this sample?'
Caretaker Kolsaz whispers, 'Toxins can often times cancel one another out. That's what we're counting on at least. You are going to go on a bit of a hunt in the surrounding areas, and combine various venoms with the samples, and those mixtures with one another until we luck out and find something that works. I've got most of Azzyks scouts doing this as well, so hopefully through sheer attrition we'll stumble on a cure.'
- [D2]
You say, 'Isn't it kind of funny, that you can't spell stabilize without the word stab.'
MISSING TEXT
You say, 'How will I know I've found a cure?'
Caretaker Kolsaz whispers, 'If what's in that vial becomes black as the night, you've got it. I'd grab a mortar and pestle of some kind to combine the fluids in. Wouldn't want to get any of it on you. If you can get it to lose all color, bring that back to me. '
Your journal has been updated. [Allies and Enemies]
Journal Text: Well this is getting complicated. Looks like I'm tasked with some trial an error research to find a cure for Darima. I am to combine venoms found in the wild with the venom sample from Kolsaz, and keep at it until the fluid turns black.
Note: You have only received a total of five (5) Unknown Venom Sample and you will need 9. Hail Caretaker Kolsaz to get the remaining you will need.
You say, 'Hail, Caretaker Kolsaz'
Caretaker Kolsaz says, 'The other scouts aren't having much luck. I hope you are fairing better.'
You say, 'I need some more venom samples.'

The Attack on the Citadel
Return to Sister Borlida (Dreadlands at 722, 9723, 1068 • Refuge) .
You say, 'Hail, Sister Borlida'
Sister Borlida says, 'You're back? Is Darima going to be ok?'
You say, 'That's up to Kolsaz now.'
Sister Borlida says, 'Than you've done enough. We need to concentrate on the graduation of the Citadel now, before we miss our window of opportunity.'
- [D1]
You say, 'But isn't the killer still loose?'
Sister Borlida says, 'Yes, but this trumps the killer. We can't have you solving all our problems. And that the killer is loose and unknown still, means you are the only one of us who can leave and accomplish this task.'
- [D2]
You say, 'Just tell me what we need to do.'
Sister Borlida says, 'It won't be easy. As I hinted at before, you won't have any official support from anyone.'
You say, 'Solo? I can't take out an army of graduates by myself!'
Sister Borlida says, 'Which is why you won't be on your own exactly... Vrik got some intelligence to Nazdrak before this all started, that we think will suit this perfectly. Your allies for this attack will be the spiderkin.'
You say, 'Wait? They are intelligent? And they'll ally with us?'
Sister Borlida says, 'They certainly have some kind of intelligence. That they throw themselves at Baldakan, but don't seek out other life with such hate shows they have something going on upstairs. But they are animals in the end, not our allies. But animals are to be used by masters, and we think we can mobilize a cluster of them to attack the graduation.'
You say, 'So you found a way to control them then?'
Sister Borlida says, 'Precisely. A certain scent was discovered, which seems to make the Broodmother brood more docile, and receptive to orders. The goal is to find a Broodmother of the brood, and send her into battle. Her children should rush to her aid, causing a domino effect. In the confusion, you should be able to ensure the death of the Brigadier General.'
You say, 'Sounds simple. Deceptively simple, whats the catch?'
Sister Borlida says, 'Indeed, you need two things for this plan to work. The scent, and a Broodmother. The scent itself was discovered accidentally by a certain Grupluk in Murk, named Gvisip. Vrik reports that he is somewhat of an outcast, and hasn't shared his discovery with anyone. It is far to potent a weapon to remain in their hands anyway, so get the secent from him by any means necessary. Preferably all of it, if its in limited supply. The Broodmothers themselves are odd. They show up on occasion wherever the regular Spiderkin are found, but we don't know why precisely. Hunting parties who have ambushed Baldakans have reported seeing them more often than any others, so perhaps it has something to do with getting... personal with their estranged kin. Once you figure out how to control the Broodmother, you are on your own. Get her, and kill the Brigadier General.'
Your journal has been updated. [Allies and Enemies]
Journal Text: These plans always sound so simple. I need to get the scent from the grupluk Gvisip in the murk somehow, and attract the attention of a Broodmother. All I know about the latter is that Baldakans are somehow involved, or at least parts of them.
Note: This next step will require you to go into the Murk city, so you will need to at least be non-KoS to The Gruplok Faction. See A Gift for the Gruploks if you have not already done so.
Find Gvisip (The Murk at -1330, -1780 • City level) .
You say, 'Hail, Gvisip'
Gvisip says, 'Do I know you? Leave me be.
You say, 'I'm told you have a way to tame Spiderkin.'
Gvisip says, 'I- maybe. How do you know? I haven't told anyone.'
You say, 'I have my ways. Can you tell me how you did it?'
Gvisip says, 'Y-you need something from me. Then we trade, yes? You do me a favor I do you a favor.'
You say, 'What do you want?'
Gvisip says, 'I-I was supposed to prove my strength. I took my knife and went to kill a scorpion in prophets landing. My knife struck, but got lodged in its body. I ran for my life. Without my knife they all know I failed... if you could find the scorpion with my knife, than, I would gladly trade with you.'
Gather and give Gvisip:
Gvisip says, 'You found it! Thank you so much.'
You say, 'Of course. About that vial.'
Gvisip says, 'Y-yes. Thanks again for your help. If you are curious, I made this liquid from a flower I found near the dark elves landing. The Spiderkin were huddled around it, and after they were killed by a patrol I went and took it. I've never seen a flower like it before, I don't know how common it is.'
You receive Strongly Smelling Fluid from Gvisip.
Gather A Bloodied Citizen's Head.
Travel to Dreadlands and kill spiderkin. Eventually, A spiderkin broodmother (Dreadlands •) will spawn and attack you.
a female voice hisses, 'Flesh of our kin, yet you slay my children! Why! WHY'
a spiderkin broodmother screeches, 'I'll fill you with venom and hatch my next brood in your belly!'
Give A spiderkin broodmother:
- A Bloodied Citizen's Head
- Strongly Smelling Fluid
a spiderkin broodmother eyes glaze over. By the commotion in the wasteland, you surmise the graduation is already in progress...
Many troops begin massing south of the Citadel. Smart adventures would flee the area...
a spiderkin broodmother returned A Bloodied Citizen's Head to you.
Note: Feel free to delete the head. It will no longer be needed.
You say, 'Hail, a spiderkin broodmother'
She looks at impassively. She seems in pain.
You say, 'Creature, I wish for you to attack the soldiers by the Citadel'
a spiderkin broodmother says nothing, but begins to move off on her own. You reason it would be a good idea to follow her.
Your journal has been updated. [Allies and Enemies]
Journal Text: Bingo, just what the doctor ordered. Time to report back to Borlida!
Note: While not required, you can follow the broodmother to the west side of the Citadel and watch the attack. Once finished...
Brigadier General Civ`kar moans as he falls over, disbelief in his eyes and drops his shield at his feet. 'But... I invaded the City of Mercy itself...'
The proven and spiderkin collapse from their wounds...
Return to Sister Borlida (Dreadlands at 722, 9723, 1068 • Refuge) .
You say, 'Hail, Sister Borlida'
Sister Borlida says, 'Amazing <Player Name>! Azzyk reported on your success. The claw is in a frenzy, they have no idea what to do. Victories like these are what we need more of!'
- [D1] - Good Shift?
You say, 'Victories aside, is Darima alright?'
Sister Borlida says, 'Kolsaz says she'll recover. Azzyk is... angry still, but right now we're all just thankful for your victory, The loss of those recruits is a huge blow to the claw. And the death of the Brigadier General is a huge boon to your people on the mainland as well. Now we we can concentrate on-'
- [D2] - Evil (+2)
You say, 'It was too simple. Anything else to kill?'
Sister Borlida says, 'Well now that you have handled the graduation, you must now turn your sights to Darima's attack-'
As if on cue, a scream is heard to your south.
You say, 'The killer...'
Sister Borlida says, 'Go <Player Name>! Go now before someone else is hurt!'

Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'I-I... I didn't mean... I- I'm sorry.'
You say, 'Azzyk, did you kill the killer?'
Scout Leader Azzyk pauses for a moment. 'Yes. I killed him. And I'd do it again <Player Name>.
You say, 'Hail, a slaughtered rebel scout'
You pay your respects to the dead.
Turn to Rorlna, Mistress of Assassins (Dreadlands at 358, 9690, 1068 • Refuge, Most South West building.) .
You say, 'Hail, Rorlna, Mistress of Assassins'
Rorlna, Mistress of Assassins says, 'It's finished <Player Name>. Azzyk killed the killer when it tried to strike me.'
You say, 'Killed? But we need answers! Now we'll never know the whole truth.'
Rorlna, Mistress of Assassins says, 'Sometimes you don't get a neat resolution <Player Name>. Just be thankful Azzyk saw the creatin sneaking up on me. We may be able to solve the mystery with my contacts someday. Report back to Borlida. Tell her it's done.'
