West Badlands Hunting Guide

As the largest zone in SoD, there are many different areas to hunt in West Badlands (WBL). Entering the zone from Centaur Hills, there is a village on the left in the corner. This area of the zone is relatively low level although Hill Giants path here occasionally. The Guard Towers, both to the right and straight ahead, provide some protection for those tactical errors that crop up from time to time. The predominant mobs in this area of the zone are plains wolves and plains cats with the occasional 'corrupted' running loose.

Farther into the zone, the adventurer can run into a giant spider or so as well as the sometimes deadly a rotting plague gnoll. The gnolls occasionally drop Gnoll Balm useful for the Antique Plate Greaves quest as well as being used in tailoring. The spiders drop spider silk and Spider Tarsus. Also, there are Centaurs running loose although it is only the corrupted ones that will bother you ... and they REALLY bother you, and fast.

There are two bandit camps in the zone. One is on the western side of the hills in the norther part of the zone and one is on the southern side of the zone around loc (-3500, -11100). These bandits drop Bandit Head which can be handed into Captain Arlin for exp and a bounty token. Both camps have a named bandit, each of which drops an amulet used in Antique Plate.

On the path that leads north into the hills, there is a group of 2 Guardian Wraiths that will also spawn the spectres of corruption that actually turn the regular spawns into corrupted creatures. They are also useful for a quest or Goldon Rotbringer's quests.

Near the Wizard Pyramid, there is a group of static (non-pathing) Plague Gnolls that inhabit the ruined equiment area just before the zone to Northern Badlands. Tralkh the Scavenger spawns here.

The River Hag spawns in the river about 1/2 way along the zone near a farmhouse on the riverbank. She is also a quest mob.
