Pathway for the Beginner

The best place to gather materials to go from 0 to 180+ tailoring skill is Greater Faydark at the entrance to Athica. There are a few general roaming areas for spiders, bats, wolfs, and bears. Note that you need to kill everything you see to force what you want to spawn, so all those lizards need to die. The respawn is around 5 minutes, but you will be so busy chain killing you won't stop hunting. This will supply you will all the Spider Silk, Bat Blood, Spider Blood, Wolf Skin, and Bear Pelt required relatively fast since you can farm all 4 materials at the same time. Save as many crafted leather armor as possible. They will come handy later. The only missing part is Hopper Hide, but many hoppers can be found in Sundered Mountains. Since Wolf Skins will be in low supply, you can visit Lair of Paw and kill the lions there to get Cat Skin to make more leather armor.

To skill up tailoring, first, go to your GM and buy your 21 points of tailoring and smithing. Then take your farmed silks and cat/wolf skins to get to 45 skill. Next go to Surefall and mine Iron Ore to make Iron Studs, (Iron Ore + Coal) = (Small Iron Ingot) + Studs Mold with. Raise your skill to 95 using Studded Leather Armor (Wiz made it so you can only use player-crafted leather armor to make studded leather); you can also use your Bear Pelt to skill up here. As soon as you are within range of crafting Cured Silk Slippers, visit Tim Cobbler Day and use Silk Slippers from him until 127 skill. You should then be able to use Hopper Hide to get up to 185, if you have a Hidechopper. From there you can do Sharkskin Shoulderpads and move on to Wyvernhide Armor to take you up to 250 tailoring.
