Warrior Aggro Weapons Guide

The warrior's purpose in Dalaya is to accumulate as much HP and AC as possible, in order to make heal spells cast upon the warrior more efficient and better absorb melee hits from monsters. However, all the HP and AC that a warrior amasses will be useless if he cannot maintain the attention of the monster. In order to keep the attention of a monster, or Aggro as it is called in Dalaya, the warrior must have level appropriate weapons. Because monsters dislike certain weapon effects more than others, there are certain ideal weapons for warriors to climb up the Hate List. The purpose of this guide is to educate new warriors about the weapons they should be trying to obtain throughout the levels and even post-65.

In the early levels (1-30ish), the warrior will be fine using Mithril weapons, which can be purchased cheaply from players. These weapons have fairly good damage to delay ratios, and will make generate enough aggro to make it through the early levels.

When the warrior is in his 30s there will be room to branch out into magic weapons with aggro-generating effects. The following weapons will all be good for generating aggro:

  • Fright-Edged Broadsword - procs Scream of Hate, which adds little hate and you will probably want to wait for another weapon but helps just a bit until about level 20.
  • Sludge-Covered Whip – procs Snare, and mobs hate snare. You can probably kill this mob.
  • Whirling Paw Staff – procs Whirling Wind, a stun. You’ll want to buy this from players because the mob that drops it is going to be impossible to kill as an untwinked lv 30 something.
  • Slavemaster's Whip – procs Stun. You’ll need the help of a level 65 group to get this item, but is isn’t in high demand and if you see a group farming giants at the bank in Stormkeep you’ll probably be able to get in for a rot drop. It isn't advisable to faction bind it just yet because you'll need to switch factions for Ytrazliarch
  • Tendon-Grip – procs Snare. Should be purchased because the mob is around lv 50.
  • Edgehunter – procs 125 hate. Drops from a level 31 mob, doable with a group, maybe less.

Once the warrior has hit his 40s, a few more weapon options open up, but don’t rule out continued use of the weapons recommended here in the 30s, they will all still be effective. The aggro-generating weapons are as follows:

  • Ruby Hilted Longsword – This weapon will last you to 65 and beyond. It has a recommended level of 43 and can be purchased from players. If you want it pristine, the quest is first doable in the 50s. It procs a debuff and mobs hate debuffs.
  • Hammer of Ancient Visions – This weapon has a recommended level of 45 and will last to level 65 and beyond, perhaps up until tier 3 even. It procs a blind and mobs hate to be blind.
  • Crystal Link Whip – Procs a dd + stun. Drops from a level 59 mob but can be purchased from players. A good alternative to Ruby-Hilted through the levels.
  • Torment-Forged Hammer – Crafted by players via smithing. Procs 250 hate.
  • Torment-Forged Shortsword – Crafted by players via smithing. Procs 250 hate.

The warrior will want to pick one of these up eventually, even if it takes a while to raise the platinum to purchase one.

In the 50s there are a few more weapon avenues that open up:

  • Cane of the Disturbed - drops from the lv 55 adept Nalia the Psychic. This procs a substantial dd and stun and is excellent aggro. I recommend trying to get one.
  • Shank of Transfixion – drops from lv 50-59 simple maps. Procs Cease, a stun.
  • Spear of Provocation – this weapon has a recommended level of 45 but can be quested in the 50s. Procs 215 hate.
  • Gripper Tentacle – Recommended level of 50. Procs 200 hate.
  • Blade of Execration - procs a slow, from the maximum level 50 Adept called Tidefang the Wild. Slow is great aggro and would also be of great utility later in the warrior's career against mobs that reflect spells, or in groups without a slower. Proc spells cannot be reflected whereas casted spells may be.

The rest of this guide will cover 65+ raid weapons that have ideal hate procs. Any combination of the 40/50 weapons listed above will be serviceable in the early Raid Tiers. These are the weapons for use after that era:

  • Throatseeker – procs a debuff, drops from a tier 1 raid mob.
  • Razer – procs a strong debuff. Drops from the war, a level 65 event.
  • Prismatic Crystal Katana – Drops from a tier 2 raid mob, procs an area of effect stun.
  • Tendril of Protrusion – drops from the worm matriarch in the deepshade. Deepshade can be difficult for lower tier 65s so be wary and consider bringing more than 1 group even. Has a pure aggro proc.
  • Frostwoe – Procs a pure hate spell, drops from a low tier raid mob.
  • Ragebearer – a pure hate weapon, drops from a tier 3 or 4 mob.
  • Spear of the Great Hunt – The result of a lowish tier quest, procs a pure hate spell.
  • Protector's Blade of Shielding - procs Rune 3.
  • Ytrazliarch – procs a direct damage spell and mana drain. Ytraz is the result of a long quest and one of the best warrior primaries through the tiers.
  • Touch of Chaos - procs a DD + stun. Primary only.
  • Hysteria - procs a DD + stun.
  • Wailfury – a pure hate weapon from tier 4 or 5.
  • Patriarch, Sword of the Ruler – a pure hate weapon from tier 6.

Use of these weapons will ensure that the warrior can maintain aggro through the tiers. Weapons that cast simple direct damage without debuffs will do in a pinch, but stuns, blinds, debuffs and pure hate procs are the bread and butter of the warrior class. Haste items will also be very important through the levels, because more swings of the warrior’s weapons equals more procs equals more aggro. Do not neglect haste!

Good luck.
