Journal Text: The dagger actually belonged to a man named Madrick who Ryzan and Talvan killed in the East Badlands. He gave me his journal full of information on how the dagger could become an incredibly powerful weapon.

Find Jon Firepride (Southern Newport  at 190, -314, 3  • Firepride's) .

Give Jon Firepride:

Jon Firepride reads over the journal and hands it back to you, 'I heard about that forge, as well as the smith. I believe his name was Sorian. Another smith from Erudin named Umma Stonehammer might know more, since Sorian was from Erudin too.'

Find Umma Stonehammer (Erudin  at -707, -286, 50  • In the City Armory Jagen Kindlor, across the pond, East, from the Cleric and Paladin Guild.) .

Umma Stonehammer reads over the journal and hands it back to you, 'That journal has some mighty fascinating information of smithing techniques. Very familiar.. in fact - that's Sorian! Unfortunately, Sorian died a few months ago. He used the special forge it mentions to improve the weapons of the defenders here. I heard he was off scavenging for supplies in the ruins, but he never came back. Adventurers have since ransacked the ruins, and they found and slayed his spirit, and destroyed the forge along with him. As an alternative, I once read something from a blacksmith named Freya about the hottest forge on Dalaya, but I've since forgotten where it was.. Perhaps if you found her, she would be able to tell you of another special forge you could use.'

Umma Stonehammer returned Madrick's Journal to you.

Find Freya the Blacksmith (Sundered Mountains  at 1253, -373, 1026  • 2nd building on the left from the main gate of the Barbarian outpost) .

You say, 'Hail, Freya the Blacksmith'

Freya the Blacksmith says, 'Yah, yah, I'm a busy woman. Get on with your business.'

You say, 'I am looking for the hottest forge on Dalaya.'

Freya the Blacksmith says, 'The hottest forge? Why, that's simple. Everyone knows the furnaces of the Red Sun Mines are beyond compare.'

Find A Grey Brewer (Dragon Necropolis  at 1570, -550, 4  • Spawns nearby Rafenla) .

You say, 'Hail, a Grey brewer'

A Grey brewer says, 'You're here for the temper aren't you?'

Note: You must type the following, there is no dialog option.

You say, 'I am here for the temper.'

A Grey brewer says, 'I require the blood of a fellow rat, a Lavacore Stone from another powerful rat within this necropolis, the essence of a dragon in great anguish, and either a Symbol of Sanity, or a Symbol of Tears.'

Gather and give A Grey Brewer:

• Ratman Blood
• Lavacore Stone
• Essence of Lecatiar
• Symbol of Sanity or Symbol of Tears

A Grey brewer laughs maniacally, 'Hahahaha! You killed both Zyk and those dragons! Here it is!'

You receive Burning Temper of Contempt.

Find Red Sun Forge (Red Sun Mines  at -958, -695, 36  • In a bloody room to the Southeast of the zone, guarded by two goblin overseer's) .

Collect and combine in the Red Sun Forge to create Magmatic Yclistinite Alloy:

• Magmatic Ore
• Pure Yclistinite Chunk

Collect and combine in the Red Sun Forge to create Reactive Dagger:

• Magmatic Yclistinite Alloy
• Burning Temper of Contempt
• Latent Lava Wisp x 2
• Ryzan's Dagger

Return to A tormented soul (Eastern Badlands  at 1870, 30  • Middle of the North zone line, up the hill) .

Give a tormented soul:

• Reactive Dagger

A tortured soul seems almost at peace for the first time. 'The smith was a true genius. My dagger... it is yours now. I feel it has further potential yet. Master yourself... master the dagger. Perhaps one day... meet a master rogue... improve the dagger further.'

Madrick's soul fades from existence, seemingly satisfied to see the improved dagger that the smith promised.

You gain 250,000 experience!!
