Talk:Angar the Sand Lord
Strategy
Killed with 6 people (Bard, Cleric, Monk, Necromancer, Warrior, Ranger). First time he wrecked us and we only got him to about 60%. We had 4 adds which didn't help at all. Second time we tried we didn't have any adds and killed him with only the monk dying. Is defiantly a tough guy, casts a life tap for about 45 every once in a while during fight (3 times about). Also Harm Touches for about 150. On top of that he was hitting (double attack) for about an average of 35-40 which is pretty high for his level.
UPDATE: Clear all the roaming adds from the area first (mummies, orcs and scorpions). Harm touches for 170dmg. He goes all out and casts Spear of Disease 3-5 times for 143dmg each, split up aggro in the beginning or put up a "rampage" tank or sacrifice someone in the group. After the first 30 seconds of the fight, he settled down and didn't cast the spear of disease again, just melee. We sent a pet first to soak up the HT but when the tank went in and took aggro, he got another HT. Had the cleric cast Divine Aura and take the HT and a couple spears. That is the key to winning this fight. After DI wore off the tank grabbed aggro. Slow and Disempower stuck every time. If you have a shammy use Fleeting Fury on the tank the extra ac/stats help on long fights like this, keep it on the tank. I suggest a high level mage to summon haste rings for melee characters. You will need at least two healers. Dropped two earrings and the Trinket.
UPADATE: 6/27 - At the beginning he goes all out with HT, and lifetaps. The week before we had no problem with him. Then today he started to go crazy on us. Took us three tries, adds really got to us in the middle of the battle. Clerics were oom, we took turns medding on this one. Slowing him is a plus. 2 14 clerics, 14 warrior, 14 necro, 14 wiz, 14 enchanter.
Having a cleric to engage with DA makes this fight much easier. Killed on first attempt with 7 using a 800 hp tank to engage. Tank went down in about 15 seconds from rapid HT and Spear of Disease, but after he used all his mana on the tank he was much easier to deal with and our non-twink monk had no prob tanking him down. On 2nd kill we did it with 4 and no casualties, 2 14 clerics, 14 bst, 14 warrior using the DA method and it was cake. He still has a few Spear of Disease in him after DA wore off, so we had both clerics healing in the beginning. After his dps slows down sit one cleric down and med up until the other cleric is oom. - Narlet
UPDATE: Had an group of 6, Cleric, Ranger, Necro, Monk, Druid, and 2 ShadowKnights. Cleric when in first with DA, after 10 seconds sent in the pets, after another 5 seconds sent in the tanks, followed by everyone else. No deaths. Cleric was OOM by the end.
