Walkthrough

Find Almik (Lake of Ill Omen  at 1788, -2083, 262  • By the river just in from the zone in. He is invisible, so need some form of see-invisible.) .

You say, 'Hail, Almik'

Almik says, 'Its  [sic] time, are you ready for your disguise?'

You say, 'I am ready for the disguise'

Almik says, 'It's. AMAZING! I am so taaaaaa....'

The sudden silence catches you off guard.

Almik continues, startling you '....aaaalented! Show yourself before a patrol, they often return malfunctioning clockworks to their fortress for repairs and analysis. If you make it inside, we need the access codes to the Southeastern Clockwork Beacon. Do not escape without those. If you fail, escape with your life; or do not. No matter to me. But you may return and I can fix your diguise, should you need another.'

Journal Text: I am to show my self before a patrol while disguised. I hope this works. Upon failure, Almik says he can fix this disguise.

Find A kaezulian patrol (Lake of Ill Omen  • Roams) .

Note: It is possible to "fail" this step when the patrol sees through your disguise: "a kaezulian patrol sees through your disguise, 'Fool! You will die for this insult!'". Kill the mob and return to Almik for a new disguise if this happens.

a kaezulian patrol hisses, 'And what do we have here, Craftsmen be wanting this. Return to the fortress for you.'

Note: You will be ported to another part of the zone, the gauntlet, and a "cut scene" will play out in front of you.

You hear a distinct groaning, whoever this is, they are obviously annoyed.

Egould says, 'What do we have here, perhaps you'll be salvageable.'

An unknown voice cracks through the air like a whip, 'Egould!'

Baldakos the Betrayer says, 'My dear Egould.

Baldakos the Betrayer says, 'What is this junk?'

Baldakos the Betrayer says, 'Do you have time for this? What of those who choose to resist us in this region?'

Egould says, 'We...'

Egould stammers.

Egould says, 'We dispatched the Automated Liaison Via Intercept Kill several weeks ago. But...no word of success yet...'

Baldakos the Betrayer says, 'Egould.'

Baldakos the Betrayer says, 'Your time is at an end.'

Baldakos the Betrayer reveals a dagger. The metal is deep black. As you stare into its sheen, a chill runs up your spine.

Baldakos the Betrayer says, 'Soon. Victory will be ours....'

You grit your teeth as you feel the blade pierce your shoulder You have taken <#> points of damage.

Baldakos the Betrayer says, 'Thanks to you...'

Baldakos the Betrayer fades away in an instant!

You receive Blackened Dagger.

Journal Text: What - The - Fuck, did I just get myself into? I need to get out of here fast. Baldakos? Did he know I wasn't a robot? What is the meaning of this dagger? I'm still bleeding a bit from the wound in my shoulder. As I write this, I start to ease my breathing a bit. Focus. I came here for that information that Almik needed. I must press forward.

Welcome to the gauntlet. You must gather the data and leave through the exit.

Note: The goal is retrieve data from three robots within the fortress without being seen. There are various traps to be avoided, switches to deactivate some traps, and barrels which can be hailed and looted for cash, quest pieces, or as a trap. If you are seen you are instantly killed - run back to Almik to get a new disguise and then find another patrol to be teleported to the fortress again. Any quest pieces or progress obtained before death are saved, so you can just continue to progress the quest through deaths. After obtaining all three pieces of data, you must exit through the proper exit to receive quest credit.
