Walkthrough
Continue your conversation with Dis, Daughter of Marlow (Plane of Nightmare at -3572, -427 • In the river tunnel north of zone in) .
You say, 'No greater reward exists than serving you Mistress. What is the next step?'
*Dis, Daughter of Marlow looks at you directly for the second time. 'I believe Deirdre is at her breaking point. But a dream is still only a dream to her, and though she has her doubts, she will need to be tipped over by you. I have set up some 'accidents' to occur in the East Plaguelands on Dalaya. Get her over there somehow. It may require some proof that her dreams were right... ask her about the plaguelands, that should be enough.'
Return to Deirdre Grey (Greater Faydark at -215, -268 • Kelethin) .
You say, 'Hail, Deirdre Grey'
Deirdre Grey blushes a bit upon seeing you. 'Hey <Player Name>... I'm... really glad to see you again. Dereck has been... mean... to me lately. And I'm still a bit weak from that poison... <Player Name> can I ask you something?
You say, 'Of course, what do you need?'
Deirdre Grey says, 'I... I've been having... VERY vivid dreams lately. Some are a bit disturbing... but... in any case I had a vision I think. That creature that attacked Kelethin before, the one you killed. I think it came from the plaguelands. I want to mount an attack there, to find the source of the creature, and stop anymore from coming. But...'
You say, 'But what?'
Deirdre Grey says, 'Dereck. He refuses to believe my vision. He says it's your fault, that I... that I'm confused by your presence. But its only when you're around that things feel right! If the minions of Gradalsh can get as far as Kelethin, nothing is safe, not even Athica. If I had enough proof, then Dereck would have to act! But he won't let me go, and I'm still sick from the last fight.'
You say, 'Tell me what to get, and I will do so.'
Deirdre Grey says, 'Thank you <Player Name>. You are a... you're a true friend. Sometimes it seems you are the only one I can count on anymore. I've heard the recruits snicker at me recently... saying I'm weak, and can't teach them anything. I bet this never happens to Eisa and the Rose Squadron... I... this is a rough time for me <Player Name>. But listen to me go on. In my dreams I saw plagued bears, giant scorpions, and plagued pumas. If you were to bring me five plaguewracked pelts, five vials of the scorpions poison, and five puma skins, then they'd all have to believe me!'
Gather and give to Deirdre Grey:
- Plaguewracked Puma Hide x5
- Plaguewracked Bear Pelt x5
- Plaguewracked Scorpion Venom x5
Deirdre Grey says, 'Dereck. Look at all this. Our friend here has brought indisputable proof of-'
Dereck glares at Deirdre. 'Proof of what Deirdre. We all know the plaguelands are plagued. The name is somewhat of a give away. Anyway how could something like that cross the ocean-
Deirdre Grey says, 'Dammit listen to me Dereck! I had a vision! I know this is true. I know it sounds crazy, but we need to mobilize the knights and-'
Dedrick glares at you, but speaks to his wife. 'You aren't thinking clearly Deirdre. This fool has polluted your mind. We need to show the door to our lovely guest and-'
Deirdre Grey says, 'NO! We will do no such thing! Why won't you listen to me Dereck! You never listen to me. Not for anything, not even the important things! I-'
Deirdre Grey says, 'By Althuna Deirdre listen to yourself! This is madness. We are not going to ride off to the plaguelands to die Althuna would-'
Deirdre Grey says, 'Damn Althuna, and damn you! After all the work we've done! After all... I... I... I hate you Dereck! Leave! Go Away! Now! I don't want to see you right now! I'm going to go to the Plaguelands myself if I have too and-'
Dereck slaps Deirdre across the face. She stands there in shock. 'Calm down this instant. I am going to get the healers, and they are going to find out whats wrong with you. As for you over there, Marlows puppet, if you know whats good for you, you'll leave here and never return. If I see you again you are dead.'
Deirdre Grey says, 'Puh... please talk to me. I need to hear a kind voice right now.'
You say, 'Hail, Deirdre Grey'
Deirdre Grey looks at you, tears in her eyes. 'I want to do the right thing <Player Name>. Thats all I've ever wanted. Thats all... why can't I do that?'
You say, 'Would you consider yourself happy?'
Deirdre Grey weakly shakes her head. 'No <Player Name>... I'm not happy. I've never been happy. My life is a mess, and it's only gotten worse recently. I hate Dereck, I truly do, and its a terrible thing to say. I hate Althuna... she's never shown she cares for me, she's too obsessed with Duke Thanes, and Sir Frostcleave, and Lady Eisa and all the rest of the important Paladins, to care about me. I just want to be somebody. I want to do whats right. I miss my mother. I miss my father. I... what should I do <Player Name>? What should I do?
You say, 'Come with me to the plaguelands. We'll end this there'
Deirdre Grey looks at you, loneliness mixed with hope gleaming back. 'Really? Yes.. I'll come. I'll see this through to the end. Redemption is at hand... I can feel it. I know it. I've seen it. A new begining for us both. I'll sneak out after you leave and take the first boat to Freeport. I'll see you in the East Plaguelands. Let meet at the tunnel entrance.
Head to Eastern Plaguelands and meet Deirdre Grey in the tunnel.
Deirdre Grey shouts, 'Help! By the ruins! I'm being attacked!'
Meet Deirdre Grey at the old Druid rings near the south west part of the zone.
You say, 'Hail, Deirdre Grey'
Deirdre Grey says, 'I thought I was finished... I think the plagued ones spotted me as well... I was so scared... We don't have much time before they catch me!'
You say, 'I'll protect you. You can always depend on me to protect you.'
Deirdre Grey says, 'I... you have no idea... my dreams. What I saw in my dreams is coming true...'
At this point a wave event starts. It will only progress if you answer her questions correctly. At the end of each wave she will ask you to talk to her.
You say, 'Hail, Deirdre Grey
Deirdre Grey says, 'This is becoming too much... I wish I was as strong as you... as brave as you... tell me I'm brave!!'
You say, 'You will always be weak the way you are. You need a change. From Dereck, from this life.'
Deirdre Grey says, 'I... I... thats... I think... you have a point... this isn't what I want. Its never been what I wanted...'
After this spawns the second wave.
You say, 'Hail, Deirdre Grey'
Deirdre Grey says, 'I... I want to change... I don't want to be be weak. I want to be like you... I... in my dreams I was with you. Forever... does that seem strange.'
You say, 'We can be. Join me. With Marlow. She'll watch over us. Together.'
Deirdre Grey says, 'You... you never intended to reform... this was a trick all along... this was a setup!'
At this point the third wave spawns.
You say, 'Hail, Deirdre Grey'
Deirdre Grey says, 'Its all a lie... a lie... its all a lie...'
You say, 'It's not a lie. We want you. You are special to us. Special to me. You are all that matters, why I am here at all. It's for you.'
Deirdre Grey says, 'To... you? I. <Player Name>... I know it sounds strange. But I think I love you. I think I always have. I want to be with you. Like you. I know you've lied to me, but I don't care. You make me feel wanted...'
At this point the fourth and final wave spawns.
After this wave there should be another dialog, but it currently appears to be broken. Return to Dis, Daughter of Marlow in Plane of Nightmare.
You say, 'Hail, Dis, Daughter of Marlow'
Dis' eyes shine brightly. '<Player Name> you are truly a child of Marlow. She has fallen for you so completely, it is truly a marvel to watch. She has proven to be an apt pupil as well. Deirdre is picking up all our teachings with such voracity and skill. However... while she comes here willingly every night, but she isn't completly ours yet. Not fully.'
You say, 'What do you mean? We played our parts perfectly!'
*Dis, Daughter of Marlow gives you a cruel look. 'Her husband. He still holds some sway over her. He is concerend over her lack of sleep, and change in habits. He knows something is wrong, and I fear she may be telling him too much. I need you to talk to Deirdre. She'll listen to you. Keep her with us, do not allow her to back peddle. I last saw her at the entrance to this realm, speaking with Larel. We are so close! I can feel it! Don't fail me!'
You say, 'For a second, I swore you were Mistress Marlow.'
*Dis, Daughter of Marlow looks at you, amused. 'Perhaps... I think I have a better understanding of what she is like now. Why she acts the way she does. Why she left. This has been a liberating experience <Player Name>. You'll be greatly rewarded when its all over.'
You say, 'Hail, *Dis, Daughter of Marlow'
*Dis, Daughter of Marlow glares at you. '<Player Name>, this is no time to be fooling around. Find Deirdre quickly, and speak with her. I last saw her near the entrance to this realm, speaking with Larel. Speak with her, and be very careful. I am getting a bad feeling about this.'
Find Deirdre the Tempted (unknown zone • unknown loc) at the entrance of Plane of Nightmare.
You say, 'Hail, Deirdre the Tempted'
Deirdre the Tempted blushes upon seeing you. 'Hello <Player Name>. I... this is amazing... I would never have thought any place place could be like this...'
You say, 'Welcome to the otherside Deirdre.'
Deirdre the Tempted says, 'The otherside... yes. I... did I make the right decision? It all makes sense when I'm here, but when I wake...'
You say, 'Dereck and the others don't understand the true you. They are the enemies.'
Deirdre the Tempted says, 'But I don't want them to be the enemies... I... I told Dereck about this... all of this. I wanted him to come with me...'
You say, 'He doesn't understand. Has never understood you. Don't waste you time.'
Deirdre the Tempted says, 'I... he... no you are right. Its funny. I realize what kind of person you are. How you tricked me. How you took advantage of my faith in you. You are controlling and manipulative, a true servant of Marlow. And yet... I think its what I want... I...'
Suddenly you feel a powerful spell envelop the area. Something is coming!
Dereck Grey and a few paladins spawn. You must defeat them.
Note: Dereck Grey and the paladins are sworn to althuna, thus people sworn to Althuna cannot help you
Dereck Grey shouts, 'Deirdre... You've fallen so far. By order of Duke Thanes the Righteous, head paladin of Althuna, you are under arrest. You 'friend' however must die. Don't resist my dear.'
Dereck Grey says, 'Deirdre... why?'
Deirdre the Tempted says, 'Rest in peace Dereck... No... No do not rest in piece. In fact... no you will never rest. You always controlled me... told me what to do... how to do it... lets see how you like it!'
Loot Dereck's Broken Heart from his corpse and give it to Dis, Daugther of Marlow.
Dis, Daughter of Marlow looks at you, and past you to Deirdre. 'This is...'
You say, 'The heart of her husband Mistress.'
Dis, Daughter of Marlow seems delighted. 'Deirdre... my child. You could not have done a greater thing. You... I have no words to express this.'
Through Dis you can feel the pride and happiness swelling up within Deirdre. She bows before Dis, and smiles. 'I pledge myself, body, soul, and mind to you and Lady Marlow my Mistress.'
Dis nods, and her cheek bones raise in what could almost be smile. You can't help but notice how many more mortal like gestures and traits she has picked up.'Just as Marlow has her champions, so should I have mine. Deirdre, while you roam this realm, you shall henceforth be known, as Temptation, Daughter of Dis.' She reaches out and touchs Deirdres forehead.
Deirdre screams in agony, her body engulfed in darkness and dreams. As she becomes visible again, it is clear that she has changed, become a little more nightmarish. 'My... I... thank you my Mistress. I accept your blessing with honor, and eagerly await the continuation of my studies.' She looks herself up and down, increasingly pleased by her new form.
Dis, Daughter of Marlow looks at Deirdre. 'Leave us now Temptation. I have much to discuss, but it is not for your ears yet. Return to the land of the waking, and spread discord and temptation to your former comrades. Find new canidates to become my servants, your underlings. Prove you have learned well from us.' Deirdre fades away. 'Speak with me again, my champion.'
Dis, Daughter of Marlow speaks with great pride, this time for both of you. 'Before anything else, give me your augment <Player Name>. You deserve a greater symbol to show your greater strength.'
Give Champion's Badge of Dis to Dis, Daugther of Marlow.
You receive Servant's Badge of Marlow from Dis, Daugther of Marlow.
You gain 100000 experience!!
