Note: To be able to do this quest you must be sworn to Marlow at Island of Voices in Sea of Swords. Once you are sworn you receive an amulet with Deity Gate clicky on it, which will allow you to port to Plane of Nightmare.

First Step

Phago the Glutton (Plane of Nightmare  •) .

You say, 'Hail, Phago the Glutton'

Phago the Glutton says, 'Yes. Do you need something maggot?'

Are you actually calling me a maggot... There is some irony in there ya know? '

Phago the Glutton says, 'Just a term of endearment my friend. Marlows standards must be dropping if someone like you is what passes as a worshiper.'

You say, 'Who are you anyway?'

Phago the Glutton says, 'I am a nightmare of course. I am Phago, or the fear being eaten alive. I'm that feeling that you get when you think something is chewing your stomach. Amongst other things of course.'

You say, 'Do you have a point to any of this?'

Phago the Glutton says, 'Well as it happens the daughter of our esteemed mistress has a task that needs to be done.'

You say, 'Don't tell me you are responsible for such an important task.'

Phago the Glutton says, 'Somewhat.. I have been entrusted in finding someone who embodies the purest traits of Marlow in order to help Dis. No other being will do. However...'

You say, 'However... what?'

Phago the Glutton says, 'However there is something I need done first.'

You say, 'You would delay Mistress Dis' task for your own petty needs? I should punish you where you stand for this.'

Phago the Glutton says, 'Sorry sparky, she ain't talking to anyone, she's just lost in her own little world like usual. If you want to get her attention you'll need my help.'

You say, 'Fine. What do you want done.'

Phago the Glutton says, 'All you need to do is this one task for me. Amongst my many powers, includes the ability to learn what someone knows by ingesting their essence. We all know how much of a kick Marlow gets from mortal subconcious thoughts. I bet I can score some major points by showing her stuff from some more... exotic '

You say, 'What do you have in mind?'

Phago the Glutton says, 'Around greenmist I've felt the minds of strange horrors touch mine. I know there are two different ones, but I can't tell the difference between them... they both have tentacles is all I can really tell, and are both pretty ugly. Get me two essence from each, that should be enough to learn what they fear.'

Gather for Phago the Glutton:

• Forgotten Essence x 2

Return to Phago the Glutton and give him Otherworldly Essence x 2 and Forgotten Essence x 2.

Phago the Glutton says, 'Oh... oh... ooooooooohhhhhh. Thats amazing. It's like a party in my mouth and the Lurk isn't invited! Oh god...'

You gain 30000 experience!!

You say, 'Yeah... about Dis' trial?'

Phago the Glutton says, 'Oh yes... well you see its not quite that simple... I had another vision while you were gone something of extreme value to Marlow. Their exist these wraiths you see, and-'

You say, 'This is not what we agreed on. Tell me of Dis' trial. What does she need! How can I prove myself to her?'

Phago the Glutton says, 'Yes. You will prove yourself, when I say you have done enough. Don't forget who has senority here.'

You say, 'You tread a dangerous line. I will listen for now.'

Phago the Glutton says, 'He he. As I was saying, there are four wraiths that I have become aware of. They appeared around the time Freeport fell, and are in that area. Of the four, three of them have an orb, and I believe if I consume them, I will learn of horrors not meant for mortals. I tingle just thinking about it. That kind of knowledge would be invaluable to Marlow, and I'd certainly curry favor. Bring me the three orbs, all at once. And I shall tell you about the trial.'

Phago the Glutton says, 'By Marlow's blessing... the emotion in these... the amount of pain and fear that I... this will be VERY useful in the future. I wonder... Yes, I have a new task for you. I need you to go to The Halls of Misery and-'

You gain 40000 experience!!

You say, 'NO. Enough is enough. This is not what we agreed on. You have broken your word, and keep me from assisting Mistress Marlow's favored. For this you will pay.'

Phago the Glutton says, 'What? Are you serious? You have got to be kiddin me! You could never hope to take me out! Get out of here. I don't want you working for me anymore anyway.'

You say, 'Prepare yourself!'

Phago the Glutton says, 'I won't but you better! Get <Player Name> worms!'

a gluttonous wormling (Plane of Nightmare  • Quest spawned) spawns, kill it and then talk to Phago again.

Phago the Glutton says, 'Ok... you win. No more tasks. Here it is. Dis will only see someone who proves their strength against one of Marlows sworn enemies. As such she desires the deaths of the champions of Althuna, the Paladins. Bring back ten symbols of Althuna from their corpes, and Dis will see you. Bring the amulets to me, and I'll notify Dis that it is done. Any paladin who every lived would have one of these things, so it shouldn't be too difficult...'

You say, 'I swear, if this is another one of your personal tasks, I will not hold back next time.'

Phago the Glutton says, 'No, no... you've proven you're stronger than me. I wont try anything more. Perhaps another time I can convince you to assist me, but for now its time for Dis' trial.'

Alignment Shift: 5 Evil, 5 Lawful

Phago the Glutton consumes the amulets, and pauses for a second. 'She's ready for you <Player Name>. Don't dissappoint, she hasn't called on anyone in a very long time. Oh, this is for you as well. To show there are no hard feelings and all... you'll need it to speak with Dis anyway.'

You receive Servant's Badge of Dis from Phago the Glutton.

You gain 65000 experience!!
