Exped Ldr Sharakh Vahl

It has been fully a week now. Even the most optimistic of us must now assume that the message didn't make it. I've told the others that we have a plan to sneak this message out, but that is, of course, a lie. I've no doubt that this message won't help us at all.

Still, it's good for morale. If Shala sees me working, Shala has hope, and if shala has hope then so do the Shahar.

Ah, the Shahar...they met us here, not long after we moved camp. Their leader died in the spirits' initial attack, but they are better equipped--They'd brought an assassin, no doubt meant for me. Fate blows strange tradewinds, eh?

We now number a few dozen, but too few to make a push for the exit. The spirits know we are here and could strike at any time, but I think they're content to keep us trapped, let us die slowly. Perhaps that makes our blood taste sweeter?

Still I must admit I've found comfort in these last days of mine. Somehow, the presence of the Shahar has made it more bearable; it feels as if we are not alone, with the bizzare implication that we would have been were it just Vahl suffering in these ruins. Strange, isn't it? But true, to be sure. The Shahar are as grateful of us as we are of them.

Shala and I have plotted our next move at length, but neither of us has much of any ideas. We've picked this area of the city dry and will have to move again soon. Perhaps it would be best to just enjoy the time we have left, that the spirits might have a lesspalatable meal?
