Walkthrough

Find Warden Wevrynn (The Overgrowth  •) .

You say, 'Hail, Warden Wevrynn'
You get the distinct feeling that Wevrynn is aware of your presence, though he pays no mind to your greeting as he stares off into the distance.
You say, 'Is something troubling you?'
Warden Wevrynn says, 'Yes Wood Elf, I would say there is a great deal troubling me, but I have no desire to speak of it to someone associated with the Circle.'
You say, 'I have no ties to the Circle.'
Warden Wevrynn says, 'That is most wise of you. The Circle is not to be trusted and those who remain faithful to it are woefully ignorant.'
You say, 'Why is that?'
Warden Wevrynn says, 'Months ago I would never have spoken such words, but since the disappearance of Prime Warden Jenrok I have felt darkness creep ever closer until it has overtaken the Circle. I do not believe the corruption started with the Wardens, but that the contamination lies within Yale. Though I have nothing but intuition guiding me, I plan to find proof, and then I will discover what happened to her.'
You say, 'Prime Warden Jenrok?'
Warden Wevrynn says, 'Jenrok was far more than a respectable man, he was the living embodiment of what it meant to be a Warden. True to all aspects of nature and just as deadly, he wielded the power as though it was an extension of his arm. It seems odd that he would have simply disappeared, but what is even more disconcerting is who took his place. Kizarh has no respect for nature. In fact the way he twists and corrupts it into doing his bidding sickens me to the core of my soul.'
You say, 'What are the Wardens?'
Warden Wevrynn says, 'The Wardens were founded long ago by Ril, the first explorer of the Overgrowth. It is there that he died and his legendary blade was lost. Wardens are like Druids and Rangers in that we also are protectors of nature, but our similarities end there. We do not merely summon the elements of nature, we live and breathe them. We shape and bend what already exists, then use use the result to protect and sometimes to kill. We are taught that a balance must be preserved and we cannot take more than is available. This is what I believed until Kizarh came. He has no respect for our ideals or for the balance we struggle to maintain. I fear the damage that can be caused by he and his new disciples, as they wield all of our power with none of our restrictions. However, I believe this danger is small compared to the shadow of Yale.'
You say, 'Ril? And what of this blade of legend?'
Warden Wevrynn says, 'I do not have much to tell. Legend teaches us that Ril brought the Wardens here to learn how this place could exist. It is very odd for such life to thrive so deep inside of Dalaya. It is most unfortunate that he encountered something he did not expect, a portal to another world and a powerful being of corruption. They fought for some time, but this creature was too powerful, shattering Ril's blade and extinguishing his life. I am uncertain how much of this story is true, but it is still a Warden's duty to carry out his will. I am a protector of this place and I refuse to leave it. I will remain and continue the work of our founder.'

Gather and combine the six unique Blade Splinter's in Splintered Blade to create Fragmented Blade

Return to Warden Wevrynn (The Overgrowth  •) with Fragmented Blade in your inventory.

You say, 'Hail, Warden Wevrynn'
Warden Wevrynn You get the distinct feeling that Wevrynn is aware of your presence, though he pays no mind to your greeting as he stares off into the distance.
You say, 'Would you happen to know anything about this blade? *show weapon*'
Warden Wevrynn says, 'Could it truly be?' Wevrynn inspects the blade more closely, 'So the legend was true after all. Granted the blade is still fragmented and incomplete, but this is without a doubt the same sword.' He points to a spot near the center of the blade, 'Do you see these faint runes here? They spell out the name of the blade... There must be a way to restore this to its former glory.
You say, 'How can we repair this weapon?'
Warden Wevrynn says, 'It will be no easy task Braas, though I believe it is possible. I know little of how to forge weapons through the powers of nature, but I can put you in contact with someone who does. His mother was actually the one who was said to have created the blade of legend as a gift to Ril. He was trained to follow in her footsteps and now resides in Surefall Glade. Bring this to him, and be sure to give him my regards.

I should seek someone out within Surefall Glade about information on how to recreate the blade of legend.

Find Wexford (Surefall Glade  at 104, -90, 4  • Ranger guild hall)

You say, 'Hail, Wexford'
Wexford says, 'Greetings. Are you in need of spells?'
You say, 'I have a weapon I would like you to look at. *show weapon*'
Wexford takes one glance at the weapon and says, 'I suppose it is only inevitable that this weapon found its way back to my family, but I am afraid I have no interest in that kind of craft anymore...'
You say, 'Wevrynn sent me.'
Wexford sighs, 'He would not have sent you here unless he wanted to settle that debt I owe him. I suppose I have no choice in this, but you both are sorely mistaken if you believe I alone can repair this broken conduit.'
You say, 'Conduit?'
Wexford says, 'Yes, this blade housed a spirit of great power within it. Well, until it was shattered that is. With its home broken the spirit is surely running free in the area you found the pieces, and making it come back to its home will be no easy task. But before I go too deeply into that process we will need to repair the blade itself, which is going to be a trying process.'
You say, 'What must be done?'
Wexford says, 'To recreate the house for the spirit I am going to need Lightstone dust, and a lot of it. Not only that but there are still bits and pieces of the blade that are missing, these pieces would probably be found deeper within the cavern you found the initial pieces due to them being blasted the furthest away when it was shattered.'
You say, 'How much of each will I need?'
Wexford says, 'There is no telling with the Lightstone dust, the stronger the better though, just keep bringing me lightstones until I tell you I have enough. For the remaining pieces of the blade I noticed 8 fragments missing. Once you bring me these things we will proceed from there.'

Gather and give eight Blade Fragments to Wexford

Gather and give Greater Lightstone OR Lightstone to Wexford

Note: You have to turn in a lot of Lightstones. I turned in 103 - Greater Lightstone and 247 - Lightstone
Wexford says, 'I now have all of the components I need. Just hand the blade to me and I can begin on mending the it back to its original form. During it's reforging though there is something I would ask your assitance in.'
You say, 'And what is that?'
Wexford says, 'The tree that bore the wood for this hilt has become twisted and corrupted over the years as darkness has fallen over the Lesser Faydark. Ever since the shattering of this very sword I am reforging. My request is that check on this once kindred treant and see if there is any light it can shed on the devouring darkness.'
You say, 'I will check into it.'
Wexford says, 'Thank you <Player Name>. Now just hand me the blade and I will get started, it should be complete after your trip to visit Blackoak.'

Gather Fragmented Blade to Wexford

Note: You will not get this back
Wexford says, 'Safe travles in your joruney to the Lesser Faydark. It is not the place it once was.'

Find Blackoak (Lesser Faydark  • In a clearing off the main path.)

You say, 'Hail, Blackoak'
Blackoak creaks to life, darkness seeping from its bark. A voice bellows, 'And what do we have here hmm..? More little pitiful men. The corruption will take you too someday, yes, I am certain of that.'
You say, 'What corruption?'
Blackoak says, 'Do you not feel it seeping up from the very ground you stand on? It surrounds you and every thing else here in this forest.'
You say, 'Where is it coming from.'
Blackoak lets out a hoarse laugh as darkness surrounds you and a voice slams into your mind, 'NOT ALL SECRETS ARE SO EASILY RECEIVED, YOU WILL DIE NOW.'

Fight Blackoak

Note: This is a 6 man fight. Somewhere around T8-9 if I had to guess.
Blackoak bellows, 'ENOUGH! I dispel you darkness!'
Blackoak looks purified.
Blackoak says, 'Come here little ones, there is knowledge you seek, and answers I have.'
You say, 'Hail, Blackoak'
Blackoak says, 'So you have come to ask about the corruption that taints this land? That question is easily answers, but not so easily understood. You have been there I can feel it, the caverns of the Conduit.'
You say, 'Caverns of the Conduit?'
Blackoak says, 'Yes, it is the place you refer to as the Overgrowth. The very place where the one wielding the Greenwarden was defeated. Which is the very blade you seek to restore.'
You say, 'This blade is the Greenwarden? I have see that spirit within the caves.'
Blackoak says, 'Was the Greenwarden. But fully restored I am sure it could once again harness it's power, if it is willing.'
You say, 'Interesting... What is this Conduit?'
Blackoak says, 'It is a source of great evil that was first found years ago on the day the Greenwarden was shattered. It was greatly weakened but time has healed its wounds and its corruption is spreading and soon it will cover more than just the Faydark.'
You say, 'Where did it come from? Can it be stopped?'
Blackoak says, 'I do not know where but I can tell you that it is not of this world, a rift exists deep within the Overgrowth and it is through that the Conduit traveled here. Can it be beaten? That is a question left unanswered, but we do know it can be weakened.'
You say, 'What now?'
Blackoak says, 'The Faydark is unsafe and my sanity will not last much longer. You should seek out the one who fought against the Conduit years ago, they are your best bet at figuring out whether or not it can be destroyed, as well as assitance in mending the Greenwarden.'
You say, 'Where can I find this person?'
Blackoak says, 'I once had a connection to this person, but it has long since been severed. The last I know is they traveled to a far away land in a vain attempt to flee the Conduit. They were then captured by a force of iksars the likes of which I have never seen before and handed over to one they called 'Saitha'. That is where the connection finally dimmed to nothing.'

Find Wexford (Surefall Glade  at 104, -90, 4  • Ranger guild hall)

You say, 'I have visited Blackoak *tell him what happened*'
Wexford says, 'This is not the first time I have heard of this 'conduit', my father frantically mentioned it before he abandoned me and my family years ago. It is ill news to hear of its ever reaching grasp on the Faydark, and even more concerning to know that it will continue to grow beyond that. To think that even a creature such as Blackoak could be afflicted. At least we have a lead.'
You say, 'Your father?'
Wexford says, 'Yes, my father. Most call him by Ril, warden of legend, but I don't believe he deserves such honorees. He left me and my family with barely as much as a goodbye, and in fear no less! The coward! When he told my mother that the blade she spent her life creating has been shattered so too was she. And when he told her he was unlikely to ever return, she fell into a sadness by which she never recovered from. I raised our family from then on, and it was by the goodness of Surefall and our friends that we made it through those dark times. All of us except one. My mother.'
Wexford face grows dark and stiff as he stares off into the distance.
Wexford says, 'Still... He is our best and only lead at this moment in both the destruction of the Conduit and the reforging of the blade, maybe he will be of some use after all.'
You say, 'The one who was captured by Saitha?'
Wexford says, 'Exactly, if anyone knows how the Conduit can be defeated it is him. You should also question him about the blade as well, there seems to be something missing, although my memory of what fails me right now.'
Wexford hands the blade out to you.
You say, '*take the blade*'

You receive Illuminate Blade from Wexford.

Wexford says, 'Perhaps in this I will finally be able to help mend the shattered legacy my father left in his wake...'

My next step is to find the one who fought against the Conduit found somewhere within the clutches of Saitha.
