Walkthrough

Find Almik (Lake of Ill Omen  at 1788, -2083, 262  • By the river just in from the zone in. He is invisible, so need some form of see-invisible.) .

You say, 'Hail, Almik'
Almik says, 'You've returned, what have you found?
You say, 'I have found this.'
Hand him the Data Transfer Tool.

Give Almik:

  • Data Transfer Tool
Almik accepts the Data Transfer Tool from you happily
Almiksays  [sic], 'Nice. Nice. NICE! This is -exactly- what we needed.'
Almik fiddles with the device for a moment. Then, without any hesitation, his eyes lock with yours for a brief moment.
Without any hesitation, Almik points the Data Tool in your direction. A short flare of electricity sparks outward, zapping you with a mild pain.
You are zapped with a flare of electricity. You have taken <#> points of damage.
Almik begins to explain himself, The shock has imbued you with what the Ancients refer to as a 'Seal'. You should be able to enter the Clockwork Beacon.
Almik says; with a slowly rising emotion that can only be anger, 'Head to the Clockwork Beacon in the Southeast this should aid in gaining entrance. Be sure to return once you gain access; I'll not stand here longer than need be!'

Your journal has been updated. [LOIO: The Clockwork Beacon]

Journal Text: I am to scout out the Clockwork Beacon and find access to the device. Also. Almik is a bit of a jerk. I wouldn't mind if I never saw him again. Perhaps he is frustrated at his circumstances, being seperated  [sic] from his friends and all.

Find GenXTra (Lake of Ill Omen  at -3086, -1609, 102  • In a hut surrounded by junkyard repairdrones) .

Note: Kill NPCs fairly quickly by its building to power it up - its current power level is displayed by boxes below its name. Once GenXTra is at full power hail it again.
Note: Seems that GenXTra gains more energy from the following emote.
As the machine dies, you feel a surge of energy crackle around you for a moment.
You say, 'Hail, GenXTra'
You see before you a device whose internal mechanisms are spinning about. You see a button on it's side and a project above, some form of an indicator.
You say, 'Press the button.'
GenXTra emits the following, 'Routing power to beacon grid...'
GenXTra emits, 'Power transfer complete.'

Your journal has been updated. [LOIO: The Clockwork Beacon]

Journal Text: After exploring the area, I figured out how to route energy to the Golem protecting the center of the Clockwork Beacon. I will explore further. I suppose I should let Almik know if I find something. He was looking for his friends after all.
Note: You may now enter into the windmill. However it seems like you can just skip to talking to Almik.

Return to Almik (Lake of Ill Omen  at 1788, -2083, 262  • By the river just in from the zone in. He is invisible, so need some form of see-invisible.) .

You say, 'Hail, Almik'
Almik says, 'Return when you've gained access to the Clockwork Beacon.'
You say, 'I have gained access to the Beacon. But that is all. It is a useful device, able to transfer a person to various surrounding areas through flight. But nothing about your friends location. How shall I proceed?'
Almik says, 'I see. Excellen#. Take thi_s token, the machinery there sh@uld be able to use 1t to find my friend2.'

You receive Flecked Token.

Your journal has been updated. [LOIO: The Clockwork Beacon]

Journal Text: I have received a token from Almik. I almost feel tainted holding it. Apparently the Beacon can use it to find his friends. To the Clockwork Bacon! Pun intended.
You say, 'Examine the token'
In your hand is a small, almost round object. It seems to be uniformly composed of a brillant  [sic] metal with small reddish flecks covering a portion of the surface. The flecks resemble.....dried blood?

Find C.B.U. (Lake of Ill Omen  at 2988, 2550, 115  • Inside the south eastern windmill, accessible by quest.) .

Beacon Gatekeeper rings out in a stoic voice, 'ACCESS GRANTED'
You say, 'Hail, C.B.U.'
C.B.U. says, 'Greetings <Player Name>. Are you interested in traveling in the area?'
You say, 'Yes, where can I go?'
C.B.U. says, 'Well these rotocopters can take you anywhere adjacent. You can go to the Dreadlands, Forest of the Fallen, the Murk, Prophet's Landing or the Overthere. Anything catch your eye?'
You say, 'Can you transport me within this zone?'
C.B.U. says, 'Transport was possible, but the transmitter was destroyed in an explosion. You'll find it to the West if you want to scan it; take care, the plantlife has grown violent. Many of my brethren have fallen to the green and brown machines.'

Find Transmit Beamformer (Lake of Ill Omen  at -3488, 608, 115  • Tower in the central southern part of the zone.) .

You say, 'Hail, Transmit Beamformer'
This must be the teleportation device; several components are missing, perhaps its explosive demise relocated them nearby?
Note: Find the four missing pieces of the Transmit Beamformer in the surrounding area as ground spawn. The Scornwoods can see invisible.

Gather and give Transmit Beamformer:

  • Bevel Gear
  • Burnished Sprocket
  • Compression Spring
  • Worm Gear
You haphazardly place the four mechanisms in what seems to be their obvious home; to your surprise, the device is reborn to mechanical life.

Your journal has been updated. [LOIO: The Clockwork Beacon]

Journal Text: Through much wading of dangerous plantlife, I have fixed the Transmit Beamformer. I should return to the Clockwork Beacon.

Return to C.B.U. (Lake of Ill Omen  at 2988, 2550, 115  • Inside the south eastern windmill, accessible by quest.) .

You say, 'I've repaired the transmitter.'
C.B.U. says, 'Excellent. Where would you like to be teleported?'
You say, 'Well, I have this token. I was told it could help.'
The machine stills. Perhaps in expectation of you handing it the token.

Give C.B.U.:

  • Flecked Token
The machine graps  [sic] the token from your hand. A beam of light from the machine traces the exterior of the token in a slow sweeping motion.
C.B.U. says, '74.5% Dallium, 23.4% Iron, 1.45% Silver, and 0.65% Organic materials detected. Ambient energy patterns are being emitted as well. Translating patterns...'
C.B.U. says, 'Patterns suggest a location in the North-West region, below ground level. Would you like to be teleported to this location?'

C.B.U. returned Flecked Token to you.

You say, 'Is this safe?'
C.B.U. says, 'Chance of survival from teleporting into solid rock estimated to be 0.57%.'
You say, 'Yes, teleport me please.'
C.B.U. says, 'Understood. Please hold, calibrating Beacon.'
You hear a loud bang above. The floor begins to vibrate as an ever increasing hum permeates your auditory sense.
You are stunned!
Vicks says, 'Woah! What do we have here!'
The gnome raises his hand. You are instantly paralyzed by an arc of electricity!
Edge says, 'Smokin centaurs n lizard skins!'
Edge jumps out of his chair.
Edge says, 'Explain yourself quickly or die; are you friend or foe?'
Note: I believe you will be killed if you tell Edge "Foe." at this part but I haven't tested it recently.
You say, 'Friend.'
Edge says, 'Hmm, how did you get in here?'
You say, 'Its a long story...(You explain your story)'
Edge says, 'Interesting. If you mean well, you're free to explore; but seek out Archivist Xanyr, he'll have more answers for you. Don't cause any trouble, you hear?'

You have completed a quest. [LOIO: The Clockwork Beacon]
