User Interface Copying
From SoDWiki
Jump to navigationJump to searchThis is a simple how-to guide for moving a customized user interface from one install to another. It is specifically aimed at players who have been playing using a legacy installation.
Step 1: Copying UI Files
Before you use the Installation guide to install a modern client, you should copy all your UI files to a temporary location. This is to prevent any accidental deletion during the installation of a modern client.
- uifiles folder
- Found in your main client directory. This folder contains customized resources used by the user interface. This includes things like old vs new spell icons, quickswitch inventory slots for hotkey bars, oversized bank windows, etc.
- Charactername_sod.ini files
- Found in your main client directory. Each character has its own file. These files contain information governing what is on a character's hotkeys, the text in social macros, the skills used by ability buttons, etc.
- UI_Charactername_sod.ini files
- Found in your main client directory. Each character has its own file. These files contain information governing how your user interface is laid out, including window sizing, location, and chat channel assignment.
- eqclient.ini
- Found in your main client directory. Among other things this file governs whether luclin models are used, video resolutions, and chat channel colors.
Step 2: Installing a Modern Client
Follow the Installation guide to install from a modern source.
Step 3: Restoring UI Files
Once you have installed the new client. You simply drag and drop the files you copied during Step 1 into your new main client directory, overwriting the default files that are present from a clean install.
