Wincent van Toad says, 'Come again? You'll have to forgive me. You spoke in my bad ear.'

You say, 'I was simply saying hello.'

Wincent van Toad says, 'Ah, of course. Hello. The name's Wincent van Toad. Say, you look to be of an artistic bent. You don't happen to have any spare paints on you, do you? I'm looking for reds, blues, and purples.'

You say, 'I'm afraid not. Why do you ask?'

Wincent van Toad says, 'Take a look at my canvas. I've been painting the Great Tree. I daresay it may be my best work yet. Trouble is I'm plumb out of the paints I need to finish the sky in the corner.'

You say, 'Can I help in some way?'

Wincent van Toad says, 'Not unless you've a stash of rosegourd and watergourd leaves on you. They're the only local ingredients that will produce just the right hues to finish this sky.'

You say, 'Perhaps I can get those leaves for you.'

Wincent van Toad says, 'If you could do that, this humble artist would be ever so grateful. And I've just the thing to pay for such a task, too, but I shan't spoil what it is. Are you still interested?'

You say, 'Yes. Tell me exactly what you need.'

Wincent van Toad says, 'I need one handful of rosegourd mawleaves and two types of watergourd leafstalks.'

You say, 'Tell me about the rosegourd mawleaves.'

Wincent van Toad says, 'A rosegourd has brilliant leaves around its maw. They produce the richest, most perfect red hue I've seen in all my years. You can find rosegourds perched out on that large rock at sea. There's no getting the leaves without killing the plant, unfortunately, but some sacrifices must be made in the pursuit of art.'

You say, 'Tell me about the watergourd leafstalks.'

Wincent van Toad says, 'A watergourds has two types of leaves that are useful in mixing paints. At the gourd's base sprout the immature leaves, which are a dazzling purple. As those leaves mature, they shift to a vibrant blue and wrap upward around the gourd. I need one helping each of the immature and mature leaves. As with the rosegourd, you'll need to kill the plant to get at its leaves, but I trust you're not too squeamish for the task.'

Gather and give to Wincent van Toad:

Wincent van Toad says, 'You've an artist's eye. These particular specimens will make superior paints. Now, there's one more thing that needs doing before I can mix paints. Are you up for another small task? I'm sorry to have to ask something more of you, but I need a little more time to prepare your reward. Seems I fumbled one of these combines...'

Wincent van Toad says, 'As these leaves are fresh from the sea, they're coated in brine and other impurities. They'll need purification before they're fit to have their pigments extracted. I'd like you to do the purification while I prepare your reward.'

You say, 'How do I purify the leaves?'

Wincent van Toad says, 'There's a small pool near that Surefall envoy at the back of the caves. She blessed the water there as part of some dedication ritual. Druidic magic goes over my head, but she has allowed me to bathe my ingredients there to rid them of their impurities before. Simply soak the leaves in the pool for a wee while. You'll know when they're ready.'

You say, 'I understand. I'll go and purify the leaves for you.'

Wincent van Toad says, 'Your willingness to help is nothing short of inspiring, young lady.'

Wincent van Toad says, 'Here are the leaves.'

Take the unpurified leaves to the pool near Surefall Envoy Daphne (Zenn Malath  • Druid Ring) at Loc: -1048, 423, 65. You will receive the following emotes when you are in hte correct potition. Do not move until you receive the final emote.

You enter the pool and submerge the leaves...

You rake the leaves across the surface...

You sense the waters beginning to work their magic...

The leaves are nearly rid of the brine and impurities...

The leaves have been fully purified.

Wincent van Toad says, 'Thank you for your help. Now, if you'll excuse me, my art is calling. Why don't you come back later and see how I'm fairing once I've got these paints mixed?'

Wincent van Toad says, 'I'm sorry. Did you say something? That's my bum ear again.'

You say, 'How is your artwork progressing, Wincent?'

Wincent van Toad says, 'Not so well, I'm afraid. I've mixed my paints and stared at the canvas, but the muse eludes me. I've not been able to paint a single brushstroke.'

You say, 'Why can't you paint?'

Wincent van Toad says, 'For the life of me, I cannot seem to focus long enough to decide what to do with the brush once I've got it in my hand. Artist's block, if you will. And I know just the thing that'd clear it, too, but...'

You say, 'What's the problem?'

Wincent van Toad says, 'Normally, I begin a painting session by quaffing a Thinker's Bottle. I find it's the perfect pick-me-up to put my mind to task. Regrettably, I drank my last bottle a week ago, and the local alchemist won't sell to me these days.'

You say, 'You mean Herbtender Puffyn? Why won't he sell to you?'

Wincent van Toad says, 'I decided recently to try my hand at creating my tiniest painting yet. And a tiny painting needs a tiny subject, doesn't it? So, I pinched a pair of baby applecaps from Puffyn's supply to use as models, thinking he wouldn't mind. After all, what are a couple of fungi? Little did I know he starts each day by counting his beloved mushrooms like they're his children!'

You say, 'What did Puffyn do when he found out?'

Wincent van Toad says, 'Oh he made quite the ruckus at the anchorage, I'll tell you that. I muttered a prayer of the Master, fessed up, and apologized. I even offered him the miniature painting I'd made of his mushrooms as reparation, but he refused. He has given me the cold shoulder ever since. And wouldn't you know it? He's the only one in town who sells Thinker's Bottles. Apparently, those applecaps are in high demand these days. I can't imagine why...'

You say, 'I'm not on Puffyn's bad side. I can buy you one of those bottles. Wait here.'

Wincent van Toad says, 'That would make my day! I'll stay put.'

Wincent van Toad says, 'Ha! Just what I needed.'

Wincent van Toad says, 'Ah, I can already feel my mind clearing! You've been oh-so-helpful, <Player Name>. Not many would go to this much trouble for someone they hardly know. Now, I believe I have the perfect reward. Perhaps you can already guess what it is.'

Wincent van Toad says, 'Here you are. One Wincent van Toad original, the very same one that I got in trouble for painting. Don't you agree Puffyn's wrath was worth the artwork? I reckon you'll treasure it more than he ever would have. You, my friend, are a true ally of the arts. Take care.'
