The breath enchantment allows you to speak underwater with ease. The mermaid withdraws to the back wall of her shelter.

Aquarelle the Timid says, 'What do you want, land-dweller?'

You say, 'Why do you cower, little one? I've done you no harm.'

She peeks over your shoulder on either side, scanning the waters.

Aquarelle the Timid says, 'You shouldn't be here. Our words might attract her attention.'

You say, 'Whose attention?'

Aquarelle the Timid says, 'The shark! She's been hunting me for days now, tracking my every move since I first saw her outside the city you call Freeport. I swam south thinking she'd give up and return to her native waters, but she followed me farther and farther until we ended up here. I cannot forage. I cannot sleep. I cannot even sing my song. This shelter has kept me safe so far, but how long can I stay here? How do I know if she'll leave, or when?'

You say, 'I can help you. Perhaps I can slay the sh--'

Aquarelle the Timid says, '--No! You mustn't do that! She may be my enemy, but she's a child of the sea just as I am. I doubt she even knows how far she is from home. Her kind belongs in the Sea of Swords, not these southern shallows.'

You say, 'I understand. Tell me, how big is this shark?

Aquarelle the Timid says, 'Big enough to make a quick meal of me, though not as big as you. What does size matter?'

You say, 'Perhaps I can scare her off if she's still in these waters. How about I scout the area? For all we know, she already moved on.'

Aquarelle the Timid says, 'You underestimate the determination of her kind, but your help is welcome. My name is Aquarelle, by the way. For now, let us put the conversation to rest. I'm still wary of speaking without knowing if the shark is still around.'

Aquarelle the Timid says, 'Did she bite you? What happened?'

You say, 'She didn't bite me, but she did charge at me. A headbutt like that could make a hill giant wince!'

Aquarelle the Timid says, 'Oh, my! Then she's as bloodthirsty as ever for me. What shall I do, land-dweller?'

You say, 'Nothing I did would turn the shark from her path. I have little experience with such fish, though. Perhaps there's someone in town who will know what to do.'

Aquarelle the Timid says, 'Do hurry. I long to be free of this fear.'

Fishmonger Tung says, 'Welcome to my humble shop. Are you looking for fresh fish? How about fishing supplies?'

You say, 'What do you know about sharks?'

Fishmonger Tung says, 'I'll tell you.'

The Taldorian smirks.

Fishmonger Tung says, 'Once you buy one of my fishing poles.'

Fishmonger Tung says, 'Much obliged. Now, sharks, you said? I've tousled with the odd one here and there in my younger years at sea, but what bearing does that have on anything? There are no sharks around Zenn Malath.'

You say, 'You're wrong. There's a stray shark patrolling these shallows. A small female.'

Fishmonger Tung says, 'Is there? I haven't heard of any such sightings. Then again, one of the fishers recently told me that he'd fished up a number of half-eaten yellowcrests. They're the only local fish that'd be halfway appealing to a shark. This girl must have come all the way from the Sea of Swords, if I had to wager a guess.'

You say, 'A seasoned seadog like you must have encountered the occasional shark. What can I do to get shoo her away from the shores of Zenn Malath?'

Fishmonger Tung says, 'Now that you mention it, I believe I have just the thing.'

You say, 'You must tell me.'

Fishmonger Tung says, 'Oh, I will.'

The Taldorian smirks.

Fishmonger Tung says, 'Once you buy some bait.'

Fishmonger Tung says, 'You're my favorite customer today, you know that?'

You say, 'You said you had something to help get rid of the shark.'

Fishmonger Tung says, 'And so I do. It's a strange trinket that an old Gnome captain gave me long ago. Anyway, I used to use it for just this sort of thing, though the magic's gone now. Take a look for yourself.'

You say, 'What did this stone used to do?'

Fishmonger Tung says, 'Oh, I'll leave that as a surprise. But believe me when I say that it will be enough to make that shark go away.'

You say, 'Okay, but you said its magic is spent. What good will it do me?'

Fishmonger Tung says, 'I keep it only as a memento of times gone by, but I imagine the right person could restore its magical properties. You look to be a resourceful lass. Hang onto the stone and ask around town. We Taldorians don't practice that kind of magic, but an outsider may have a clue.'
