The Making of Augmentations/Text
Before you begin to delve into this book, der reader, let me explain what the philosophy behind augmentations are. It is said that nothing and noone is so good that isn't room for improvements - and this is entirely true! Augmentations do not consitute items in themselves, but rather are a way to craft a stylish and usable add-on to an item already in your possession. There are three types of augmentations that can be crafted. We will begin with tailoring.
Tailoring augmentations are made from fur. By taking the best pieces from patches or animal fur, stringing them over metal threading, and applying enchated oil, a tailor can make lining to adorn a cloth or hide garment, that will provide it with some of the chosen oil's benefit. To make such an item, take two pieces of a chosen type of fur, the appropriate metal threading for the quality of the fur, and one enchanted oil. It is important to note, that above the lowest quality of augments, for best results, you should use ointments of varying qualities. Work it in your tailoring kit, and then apply it to the desired garment in your augmentation kit.
Blacksmithing augments are runes, hammered from the same ingots that you craft your armor and weapons from, and worked with smelted metal bars to create a potent magical pattern which can be attached to any piece of metal armor. To create this runes, work two small ingots of any type, along with a bar of unenchanted metal of the type used for jewelry, and a runepattern of your choice. The type of metal bar should reflect the quality of the ingot's own metal, lest they refuse to mix properly. When the forging is complete, use your augmentation kit to attach it to the suit of armor of your choice.
Jewelmaking augments are similar to Blacksmithing in that they are patterns of runes that will bring out a certain hidden power of a gemstone. They are considerably simpler to make, however, and their potency is somewhat lesser. Pick any kind of enchanted metal bar of the type you normally use in your jewelry, and work it in your kit along with varying qualities of ointments into the shape of the runepattern you want. Once done, apply it through your augmentation kit to any piece of jewelry.
Should it become necessary to remove an augmentation, perhaps to make way for one of better quality, an acidic solution can be used. Place it in your augmentation kit along with the item that you wish to remove the augmentations from. Do note that this will ruin the augmentation, and it will not be reusable.
