Talk:Notus of the Wind
First killed 3/19/2010 - (Zxarien)
Strategy
Mob is rooted in the middle of 4 normal air elementals. The elementals are not part of the event and should be killed off before engaging Notus- note: do not kill them until ready to engage as they do respawn.
Buff everyone with levitate and resist magic.
Mob has a trivial magic based aoe, similar to gravity flux that is very resistable and does only slight damage if you dont take the falling portion (called south wind or something similar but is NOT directional). Every 20% of the mob health an instant ae will be cast (magic resist again) but does upwards of 1500 damage. All melee should back off the mob to casters to dodge the ae. Note: depending on raid dps, the melee back out time should range from 82%-84% in order to get away in time. Make sure the ranged dps understand this mechanic and not burn the mob too fast when melee are still in. The tank will get his by this aoe and should be healed accordingly.
Overall, Notus has very little hp so can be killed quickly just make sure to watch his health so the raid doesnt get ae'd.
This was killed using three healers: 39 clr 38 sham 35 dru raid consisted of 39 war, 37-38 rog x3, 35/38ran x2, 38/39wiz x2, 36 bst We did not slow the mob since his melee output is minimal and he was somewhat resistant.
When building a raid, it is strongly advised to have a decent amount of ranged dps for the purposes of burning mob when melee are out. Having a level 39 cleric is useful for complete heal, as the tank may need it after a bad ae.
Note: it was discovered that the mob may be classified as "undead" for the purposes of bane and sense spells. However, it is NOT advised to use that line of spells as it would be an intentional bug abuse. That being said, bringing classes with elemental bane spells is strongly advised. If you have extra healing, dont hesitate to have your clerics dps instead of heal.
