Mycologist Synoi says 'Hello! Welcome to Haegra Malath, outlander. What brings you to our neck of the shrooms?'

You say 'What *are* those things?'

Mycologist Synoi says 'Sporeborn. A particularly militant kind of fungus. I think Malath got them from Deep Caverns, or Dupapal Deep, or something? Pfah, I can't remember. Anyway, he kept pitting them against the insects he'd taken to try to set up his own ecosystem, mongoose-snake route, only his stars got snuffed before he curbed their rate of adaptation so now the mushrooms cast Pox of Gradalsh.'

You say 'Uh... what was that middle part again?'

Mycologist Synoi says 'That's okay.' Synoi smiles and pats you on the head. 'I've got a job for you, o he with all the weapons. It's gotten too dangerous for us readin' types to get samples from the war machines, and both their populations badly need pruning, if ya ask me, and ye should, 'cause I'm the expert. So! Each sample you bring me will help our understandin', and what's more Pirshus will look kindly on your helpin'. Oh, and I'll pay.'

Mycologist Synoi says 'Their armies revolve around the Rexes, which start off mean and grow meaner as their crop-farmers collect resources for them to turn into warriors, improvements for themselves, and eventually some... worse things. As they get bigger, they become capable of growin the meaner kinds of shrooms, see? All these warriors protect the Rexes, and it'll kill you quick to go after one when it's still surrounded by a cloud o Sporeborn.'
