Guard Kerwyn at the Northern Kelethin Lift has tasked me with scouting out the fallen trees in the northwest of the Faydark. I need to inspect them for spider infestation, and report back to Kerwyn.

Find Guard Kerwyn (Greater Faydark at 228, 987, -28 • At the bottom of the North Lift of Kelethin.) .
You say, 'Hail, Guard Kerwyn'
Guard Kerwyn says, 'Hail. I am Kerwyn, and somehow I am the only guard posted at the Northern Lift right now. It seems Kulren spent too long at the inn last night... again. Which is *absolutely wonderful* for me, given I am supposed to scout to the Northwest today and check in on the spider infestation. Can't quite do that when it would leave the lift unguarded, can I?'
You say, 'Is there some way I can help?'
Guard Kerwyn looks you up and down, 'Other than finding that good for nothing Kulren and getting him here to take his shift?' Kerwyn sighs, 'I can not leave my post without another guard here. Are you afraid of spiders?
You say, 'I am not afraid of anything!'
Guard Kerwyn says, 'Good! In that case, I need you to scout out the spiders for me. During the last war, the Kaezulians introduced a venomous little spider to the Faydark. We had it under control, but then last year a bad wind storm felled some trees in the Northwestern Faydark. All that dead wood has become a breeding frenzy for the spiders. We have been culling them, and are pretty sure we have it under control, but I need you to go scout out the fallen logs and make sure. Can I trust you with this?'
You say, 'You can trust me! I am on it.'
Guard Kerwyn says, 'That is good to hear, <Playername>. If you encounter the spiders, do not engage them unless you have to. Just scout out the two largest fallen logs to the northwest and come on back to me.'
Find the logs Kerwyn has asked you to scout in the extreme north-west corner of the zone (2025, 2320, 1).
You have begun to scout the area Kerwyn asked you to. You should look around a bit more.
You have successfully scouted the spider infestation. You should head back to Kerwyn to tell him about all the spiders
Return to the north lift and report to Guard Kerwyn.
You say, 'Hail, Guard Kerwyn'
Guard Kerwyn says, 'Welcome back, Lorisha. What did you find?'
Good dialog branch
You say, 'There are spiders all over the logs! Infestation is no exaggeration.'
Guard Kerwyn says, 'Oh no... this is horrible! We will need to cull them all over again. Kulren is still not here, so you are on your own. They are just hatchlings, so it should not be too difficult, but there are a lot of them. From what you told me, ten or so should do it. Kill them and come back to me.'
You gain 1,800 experience!!
Return to the logs and kill ten a faydark spider hatchling then return to the north lift to report to Guard Kerwyn.
Guard Kerwyn says, 'You did it, <Player Name>. I have good news and bad news.'
You say, 'What did you find out?'
Guard Kerwyn says, 'Well, the good news is we are all very proud of you for killing those spiders.'
You say, 'And the bad news?'
Guard Kerwyn says, 'The bad news is that it had absolutely no observable effect on the number of spiders. You simply could not kill enough to make a difference. But we have a plan!'
You say, 'What sort of plan?'
Guard Kerwyn says, 'Well, we recently sent a letter to Underhill to see if they could help us with our spider problem. They sent us something labeled 'Dignomeaphenyl Daphnophantic Toxin (DDT)'. The gnomes assured us it is completely safe. It is a bit uncouth for us wood elves... but exotic species threaten the natural ecosystem. I want you to deploy the arachnacide.'
You say, 'Are you sure this is safe? What would I have to do?'
Without a word, Guard Kerwyn takes a bottle out of his pocket, uncorks it, and splashes its contents all over you, 'There! That should do it! Now go kill those spiders before it wears off. The ones that are in the wood will likely be resistent, but anything outside of the wood should be killed on contact. Killing about sixty should collapse the population.
You gain 2,800 experience!!
Return to the infested logs. You will kill any faydark spider hatchlings that you come in contact with.
You have poisoned as many spiders as Kerwyn asked for! Further, the poison is starting to wear thin! You should return to him.
Report back to Kerwyn at the north lift.

And if you ever find that damned Guard Kulren, be sure to yell at him for dereliction of duty for me. We should never have had to pull you into this mess, as grateful as we are that you were here.'

Go to the edge of the forest in the extreme north-west corner of the zone (2025, 2320, 1). There, you will find many a faydark spider hatchling Moving close enough to the hatchlings kills them outright. You need to slay 60.
