A Novice Bowyer's Guide
The craft of the Bowyer is a complicated and exacting craft. Quality workmanship is of utmost importance because the failure of a bow during combat could mean the difference between life and death, perhaps not even your own!
The simplest bows are made of two components, the bow staff and the string. Any Fletcher's supply will have crafted bow staves of various wood types and string of many types to choose from. The challenge in the craft of bow-making is in the type of wood itself. Hickory and Elm are recommended for the novice as these woods are relatively easy to work with.
