Basic Arrowmaking
Making arrows is a rewarding skill that even the unseasoned adventurer can undertake. Just take a stick and attach a pointy object at one end! The concept is simple, but it can take some skill to make an effective arrow.
Shaft: First of all, you need to use a properly straight piece of wood or reed for the body of the arrow. The shaft used for the arrow has a large effect on the range of the arrow and a medium effect on the difficulty of constructing the arrow.
Arrowhead: Also, you'll need an arrowhead to serve as the damaging part of the arrow. Affixing the arrowhead well is an increasingly difficult task as you use more higher quiality arrowheads. As a result, the arrowhead provides the bulk of the difficult of making the arrow as well as primarily determining the damage caused by the arrow.
Feathers: An arrow made with just a shaft and arrowhead is sorely lacking and will not fly in a straight line, so always be sure to add some feathers to the back of the arrow! Using damaged arrows will suffice, but using better feathers will slightly improve the range of your arrow and will make the construction of the arrow just a little bit more difficult.
Making your own arrows is a rewarding experience, and with a methodical practice, you can become an expert fletcher in no time!
