Arrowmaking for Master Fletchers/Text
So, you think you've mastered arrowmaking since you can make arrows from cuprosil, reed, and the best feathers without fail? Think again, and take a look at the bottles of varnish that are probably sold by your local merchant.
Varnishes are great for your tables and chairs, but in the hands of a master fletcher, they open up a new world of possibilities for arrowmaking, allowing them to imbue your arrows with mysterious and wonderful power!
First of all, don't bother adding varnish to anything but the best arrows you can make. That would just be pointless. Also, make sure to varnish the shaft of the arrow just as you affix the arrowhead and the feather. This can be a difficult task, and it will make the construction of the arrows much more taxing, moreso for some varnishes than others.
Don't overlook that inert varnish you see on your local fletching vendor! Just because it's inert doesn't mean it's useless! That inert varnish is no good for imbuing, but in the hands of a skilled tradesman, it could improve the best of arrows! But I disgress! You've made your first bundle of arrows with varnish, what now? You'll be tempted to imbue your arrows, but we should wait. Instead collect 5 of your large bundles of your varnished arrows then imbue them.
We now come to the imbue step. Thanks to the power of the varnish covering your arrows, you just need to place an imbuing agent in your quiver along with 5 large bundles of arrows with an appropriate varnish. Left in the quiver, the varnish will absorb the power from the imbueing agent for the arrows.
All that's left is to know the imbueing agents. I trust you'll manage to figure out the appropriate varnish to use!
