Advanced settings
The INI file format is a de facto standard for configuration files. INI files are simple text files with a basic structure and can be edited in Notepad (or your choice of text editor.) Before editing these INI files, it is suggested you back them up by copying un-edited versions of them somewhere safe on your computer.
Enabling EQW hotkeys
Players who box and are able to run EQW should be aware of these settings. Within the patched game folder is the subfolder /eqw. That folder contains only four files - settings can be adjusted by editing eqw.ini.
- [Hotkeys]
The Hotkeys section can be edited to use keys of your choice. EQWSwitch allows you to quickly switch between characters. It is not only much faster but also not prone to the keyboard errors common with Alt + Tab ⇆.
Enabling automatic logging across characters
While /log on and /log off work perfectly well (and record to the same files), logging must be turned on for each play session unless automatic logging is enabled. Log files are found in the main game folder, named EQLog_Character_.txt.
In the main game folder is the settings file eqclient.ini. By editing the eqclient.ini it is possible to automatically enable logging.
Find the line in the file that reads Log=FALSE and change it to read Log=TRUE. You will still be able to use /log on and /log off, but your sessions will log by default. Considering this, it is a good idea to "split" log files every few months at least, to keep them from getting too large to manage. All that is necessary to do this to rename the current log file. A new one will be started with the original name automatically by the game.
Enabling Velious armor textures
This only works if you have the Luclin player character models all turned off.
In the eqclient.ini file, there are several values you can change to display the Velious armor textures for the classic player character models.
If you change the values of LoadArmor17 through LoadArmor23 to TRUE, you will enable these textures.
