Find Brother Sortel (Dreadlands  at 829, 9693, 1068  • Refuge) .

You say, 'Hail, Brother Sortel'
Brother Sortel says, 'Ah <Player Name>, I've been looking for you. The Caretakers all speak highly of the work you've done for them. We appreciate that, all of us. But if your work with them has proven anything, its that your talents are being wasted on the more mundane tasks.'
You say, 'I don't know where you come from, but hunting Ice Devourers is far from a mundane task.'
Brother Sortel smiles. 'Don't underestimate our hunters. But we could use your services elsewhere.'
You say, 'Do you understand just how difficult killing that many Nazdrich was? Mundane? No!'
Brother Sortel smirks. 'Honestly I'd rather not consider it. Regardless we could use your services elsewhere.'
You say, 'Picking flowers is far more strenuous then it looks! I could throw out my back if I wasn't a profesional!'
Brother Sortel looks at you a bit confused. 'Is that a... joke? Ha! You are a funny one... But we could really use your services elsewhere.'
You say, 'Very well. What needs to be done?'
Brother Sortel says, 'A great deal of our continued existence in this valley is due to the work of Scout Leader Azzyk, and his hunters. They are responsible for collecting supplies, raiding caravans, and freeing other slaves. Unfortunately, I've been informed by Darima that something is upsetting him. I would like you to go and assist Azzyk in any way possible. We'll make do here for the time being.'

Your journal has been updated. [A Struggling Society]

Journal Text: Scout Leader Azzyk is apparently in need of my help for something. I have been asked by Brother Sortel to find out what.

Find Scout Leader Azzyk (Dreadlands  at 1200, 8900, 1050  • Refuge) you will be unable to start the quest from his Forest of the Fallen location.

You say, 'Hail, Scout Leader Azzyk'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'And hail to you <Player Name>. Darima spoke highly of you, and that means a lot in my book.'
You say, 'Brother Sortel said that you might need some help.'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'Need is a strong word. But I've heard you are tough, and Darima needs me to stay close these days.'
You say, 'Why? Is Darima ok?'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'I really don't know you well enough to talk about that right now.'
You say, 'I understand. What happened?'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'Well, as you may or may not know, supplies are always tight around here, and the danger level is always high. I send scout patrols out periodically to keep an eye open for pretty much anything suspicious. If people are getting too close, they trap or trick them, keeping us all safe.'
You say, 'I see, I take it something happened to your last patrol?'
Scout Leader Azzyk nods. 'That's the short of it. The Dreadlands are named such for a reason. I want you to get out there, and find my patrol. Or at least a sign of their fate.'

Your journal has been updated. [A Struggling Society]

Journal Text: If the patrol hasn't checked in by now, they are most certainly dead. I need to find a sign of them regardless, and tell Azzyk their fates.

Find a slaughtered rebel scout (Dreadlands  at 1857, 1026, 107  • Outside of a small building to the Northeast of the snowy area.) .

You say, 'Hail, a slaughtered rebel scout'
This is almost certainly one of Azzyk's scouts. Upon closer examination you realize the scout was pummeled to death by very large, very blunt means. This is almost certainly the work of Giants...

You gain 5,000 experience!!

Your journal has been updated. [A Struggling Society]

Journal Text: Located. I should report back to Azzyk. He'll want the description and details.

Return to Scout Leader Azzyk (Dreadlands  at 1200, 8900, 1050  • Refuge) .

You say, 'Hail, Scout Leader Azzyk'
Scout Leader Azzyk looks at you anxiously. 'Any news on my scouts?'
You say, 'All I found was a corpse. It looks like Giants killed them.'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'Damn those Kromtor! May Elael burn their souls! I can't stand for this! They will pay, oh I will make them pay...'
[D1] - Lawful Shift?
You say, 'Let's not be too hasty here. Can we really afford open war with the Giants? There are rules we need to play by, and we shouldn't forget that.'
Scout Leader Azzyk sighs. 'You are right of course. The Kromtor are too close to us. And if we attacked in force, Kaezul might figure out where we are. No, we'll have to be sneakier about this.'
You say, 'Sneaky? What do you have in mind?'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'Honestly, I'm a fairly straightforward kind of guy. Kolsaz is not. He has quite a few skeletons in his closet in fact, and I would like you to speak to him about this situation. Brute force is simply not an option we can take. If you have any other questions feel free to ask me.'
[D2] - Chaotic (+2)
You say, 'Yes, let's make them pay. We can attack when they'll least expect it, and take revenge. They'll never expect it!'
Scout Leader Azzyk sighs. 'No... no we can't. Damn it as much as I want to it'd be the death of us more likely than not. But if you are still up for it, I think we can do this a bit more subtly...'
You say, 'Subtle? What do you have in mind?'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'Honestly, I'm a fairly straightforward kind of guy. Kolsaz is not. He has quite a few skeletons in his closet in fact, and I would like you to speak to him about this situation. Brute force is simply not an option we can take. If you have any other questions feel free to ask me.'
[D3] - Neutral or No Shift?
You say, 'Calm down. Lets think rationally before we act.'
Scout Leader Azzyk sighs. 'Yes you are right... I'm letting my emotions get the better of me. There are better ways to get revenge.'

Journal Text: Azzyk wants revenge, but we can't afford open war with the Kromtor. Has has asked that I speak to Kolsaz about some sort of alternative revenge.

Find Caretaker Kolsaz (Dreadlands  at 1038, 9258, 1068  • Refuge) .

You say, 'Hail, Caretaker Kolsaz'
Caretaker Kolsaz says, 'Greetings <Player Name>. I'm a tad busy with my research at the moment, so unless it's important, I'd rather be left to it.'
You say, 'Azzyk sent me. He lost scouts to the Kromtor and says you could provide a more subtle form of revenge.'
Caretaker Kolsaz says, 'Is that a fact...'
You say, 'Well, was he right? Can you help?'
Caretaker Kolsaz says, 'Yes I can. And you actually ended up providing me with the means to do so already.'
You say, 'How? All I got you were those ferns.'
Caretaker Kolsaz says, 'Correct. As it turns out I was way off with them. They are pretty much useless in terms of healing. But they are a VERY potent poison as it turns out.'
You say, 'Poison? What do you intend to do?'
Caretaker Kolsaz smirks. 'A throwback to my old career. Rorlna will be thrilled I suppose. Now it's rough around the edges, but here is what I'm thinking. I take these Icethistles, and create a very powerful poison. You take this poison and contaminate their beer. They drink it and die. If we do it right, this accomplishes a few things.'
You say, 'What exactly does it do for us?'
Caretaker Kolsaz says, 'Firstly it gets rid of a few giants for us, which is never a bad thing. Second it calms down Azzyk, and having a calm Scout Leader is a good thing. Third, when a patrol of Giants returns to the fort, and see their poisoned comrades, they will figure out soon enough it was the beer and blame the source of the beer.'
You say, 'And the source is?'
Caretaker Kolsaz cackles. 'Ikild and Kaezul. Splintering loyalty is so easy and fun.'
Note: It appears that the quest will change *slightly* depending on how you respond next. Unclear if this will result in different alignment hits.

[D1] - Poison - Evil (+2)

You say, 'Sounds like fun! Give me the poison and I'll get started.'
Caretaker Kolsaz smiles. 'We are going to get along just fine, I can tell. Ok here is the poison. Poisoning their current stash isn't feasible, they'll notice something is wrong if you attack them head on after all. Find a shipment incoming to them, and sneak the poison into the kegs. It won't be easy, but I'm sure you can handle it. Return to me to report your success.'

You receive Something Nasty from Caretaker Kolsaz.

Your journal has been updated. [A Struggling Society]

Journal Text: What a plan! All that I have to do is poison their beer before it reaches the fort. Should be simple enough. Once that's done I need to return to Kolsaz.

Find a levitating supply crate (Dreadlands  • Patrols into kromtor camp) .

Give a levitating supply crate:

  • Something Nasty
You successfully poison the beer.

You gain 10,000 experience!!

Your journal has been updated. [A Struggling Society]

Journal Text: Mission complete. Time to return to Kolsaz and report in.

Return to Caretaker Kolsaz (Dreadlands  at 1038, 9258, 1068  • Refuge) .

You say, 'Hail, Caretaker Kolsaz'
Caretaker Kolsaz says, 'Is your mission a success <Player Name>?'
You say, 'The beer has been poisoned. We are golden.'
Caretaker Kolsaz says, 'Splendid. Go talk to Azzyk, he'll be eager to hear the report.'

Your faction standing with The Slave Rebellion has gotten better!

Your journal has been updated. [A Struggling Society]

Journal Text: Time to let Azzyk know his scouts have been avenged.

[D2] - Not Poison? - Good?

You say, 'I'm morally against this plan. Poisoning is wrong.'
Caretaker Kolsaz frowns. 'Well we are at war, and this needs to be done. We gain too much by doing this, and you are the only option as far as people who can pull it off. In fact I'd go as far as to say that not going through with this is something only a Kaezul sympathizer would do. No, if you want to prove your loyalty to us, do it.'
Note: You can choose to accept at this point, "Fine, I will do it.", or..
You say, 'No. I refuse. There must be another way.'
Caretaker Kolsaz frowns. 'Fine then. I'll toss away this perfectly good plan because someone feels uncomfortable with it. My only other idea to get a similar outcome is to find the caravan that will be delivering the beer, and making it look like the Giants attacked it. I have a potion here that will cause large impacts in the area, that should fool a casual observer, but you'll need to kill all the guards before you use it. Afterwards use the potion on the Kegs, to use it as fuel for the magic.'

You receive Impact oil from Caretaker Kolsaz.

Your journal has been updated. [A Struggling Society]

Journal Text: Right, a variation of the plan. I'm much happier doing this instead. Kill the guards head on, and make it look like the Giants fault. Simple enough.
You say, 'Thanks for seeing things this way.'
Caretaker Kolsaz growls.

Find a levitating supply crate (Dreadlands  • Patrols into kromtor camp) . Spawns at nighttime only.

Give a levitating supply crate:

  • Impact oil
You use the oil on the kegs, and await the boom... but nothing happens. Perhaps the oil isn't working. You should go back to Kolsaz and investigate.

You gain 10,000 experience!!

Your journal has been updated. [A Struggling Society]

Journal Text: Something is wrong... I should report back to Kolsaz and find out what.

Return to Caretaker Kolsaz (Dreadlands  at 1038, 9258, 1068  • Refuge) .

You say, 'Hail, Caretaker Kolsaz'
Caretaker Kolsaz says, 'Is your mission a success <Player Name>?'
You say, 'I used the oil, but there was no explosion. Something went wrong.'
Caretaker Kolsaz says, 'Then mission success. The Giants will find the beer soon, and likely die drinking it.'
You say, 'Wait... the oil was the poison wasn't it... you tricked me!'
Caretaker Kolsaz says, 'Correct. And I'd do it again. We are at war, and while you may not like our tactics, we won't compromise. You are going to have to be significantly less arrogant if you want to make it out here alive. Consider this a free lesson... most people I wouldn't even talk to again. Go talk to Azzyk, he'll be very happy his revenge is complete.'

Your journal has been updated. [A Struggling Society]

Journal Text: I can't believe Kolsaz! He used me... regardless I need to speak to Azzyk right now, and let him know it's done. I feel sick...

Conclusion

Return to Scout Leader Azzyk (Dreadlands  at 1200, 8900, 1050  • Refuge) .

You say, 'Hail, Scout Leader Azzyk'
You say, 'Your revenge is complete. The Giants have been made to pay.'
Scout Leader Azzyk says, 'Thank you <Player Name>. Revenge is an ugly game, but it does calm me to know they got what they deserved. I'm done with you for now. You should check in with Brother Sortel, and let him know how much you helped me.'

Your journal has been updated. [A Struggling Society]

Journal Text: Azzyk is satisfied with the outcome. Hopefully his scouts can rest in peace. He suggested I speak with Brother Sortel again at this point, as he no longer needs my services.

Return to Brother Sortel (Dreadlands  at 829, 9693, 1068  • Refuge) .

You say, 'Hail, Brother Sortel'
Brother Sortel says, 'I heard from Kolsaz about your mission and it's success. You've done a great service for us today, and I've been cleared by Kair`got to provide you with a reward. Take this and our thanks. Our logistician is out gathering supplies, but when he returns, you'll be able to turn it in for favors amongst us.'

Your faction standing with The Slave Rebellion has gotten better!

You gain 20,000 experience!!

You receive Rebel Acquisition Token from Brother Sortel.

You have completed a quest. [A Struggling Society]

Journal Text: It wasn't easy, but I think the rebels are really starting to trust me. I think I can close this particular chapter at this time. I'm sure there is much more to do though.
