Talk:Theurgist Iztala

From SoDWiki

Impressive strategy details for the first time she was ever downed. (And may she be downed many times henceforth!) Is there any chance someone can supply a reading of her resists, similar to how the other adepts (e.g. Iztala's comrade Sludgebreath, etc.) have theirs listed? Gnomish 23:33, 12 December 2012 (EST)

Some Notes from Adept Hunters Inc attempts at this adept:

enchanter is practically required to mez the elementals they have the only group mez spells that work.

Tanking is not a big deal for this fight unless you have other classes that benefit from it.

Do not use damage shields unless you plan to click them off right before elementals spawn. the reason for this is damage shields can occasionally break mez if the mob strikes at the wrong time.once they are mezzed damage shield is ok.

Do NOT use fear on the elementals it does work but you will bring half the zone on you.

The spells used in this battle are either unresistable or have an insanely high resist adjust. all our resist buffs looked meaningless in the log parse. The tank also had a magic resist of over 300 but it didn't seem to prevent any spells from landing.

A lot of spells will be hitting a good portion of your group prepare for group healing.

Fire elemental big nuke is a point blank AOE if you are far enough away you won't get hit.

Bard group mez is useless(think elementals were too high level) in this fight though the single target version works.

Most of the damage from this fight is from spells not melee.

This is a long fight make sure healers have plenty of mana.

Before starting it is recommended to clear the two mobs in the neighboring room.

Elementals appear to choose their target randomly and will not necessarily go after the tank. Because of this set up your group so the elementals will group together for enchanter mez.

Original Strategy Notes (Moved from Main Page)

Theurgist Iztala is in the northernmost room in the zone, and you can invis to her if you would rather not clear. She does not rampage or do anything special herself until the final phase of the fight, and appears to have a max hit of ~100 against a twink warrior with 1420 ingame buffed AC. The 3 liodreths in the room with Theurgist despawn upon engage. HOT the tank and have him run in to begin the fight. Try to keep Iztala tanked in the center of her room to prevent mobs that spawn throughout the fight from being walled.

At 80%, Theurgist Iztala disappears and 4 fire elementals will spawn. Ideally, three should be mezzed while the tank+dps kills one, and then break mezz one at a time to kill all four. If they are left alive and unmezzed for a certain period of time, they will spawn a smaller fire elemental that blows up for substantial AOE damage. Once all elementals are dead, Theurgist Iztala reappears.

At 60%, she disappears again and 4 earth elementals spawn. Again, mez three and kill them off one at a time. While you are fighting them, they will periodically do an AOE that also causes everyone hit to feign death. If multiple elementals are unmezzed this AOE will probably be killing people. Once all four are dead, Iztala reappears again.

As she gets closer to death, Theurgist will begin emoting player names that she will be hitting with rain spells or AOEs, so you want the person who gets called out to run away from the raid, and then back in once the next name is called. She will also spawn a water elemental and an air elemental. It appears that the water elemental causes Iztala to regenerate health, and the air elemental might stun people. Both of these needs to be killed when they spawn, as a 10k AOE will wipe the raid when Iztala hits 5% if the elementals are still alive.

DISCLAIMER- As this is a new adept that has only been killed once as of this writing, it is likely that certain aspects of the fight could be changed at some point in the future.
