Find Apprentice Kelia (The Remnants of Old Ikild  at 2320, 4730, -340  • Gruplok outpost) .

You say, 'Hail, Apprentice Kelia'
Apprentice Kelia tells you, 'Did... did you see them? I have never seen them so far from the waters of the lake... and in such numbers!'
You say, 'What are you getting at?'
Apprentice Kelia tells you, 'The crac`tee! They are traveling much too close to the Murk. This is not a good thing, we had enough problems as it was.'
You say, 'With what?'
Apprentice Kelia tells you, 'We are having a hard enough time with Kaezul... these crac`tee may prove more than we can handle. Of our party, only Gelizal has any experience hunting them, and we have no nets or spears. It would be suicide for us to try and attack them before they reach the Murk.'
You say, 'I could lend a hand if you need it.'
Apprentice Kelia tells you, 'Really? You would do that? It's been so rough out here on our own, I wouldn't even know where to start asking for help.'
You say, 'The crac`tee maybe?'
Apprentice Kelia tells you, 'Yes! Do you think you could? They are behaving so strangely... I wonder why? Could you bring me some of the migrating crac`tee, as well as anything else you can find in the lake? We need to figure out what is causing this if we want to be able to fish the waters back home.'

Gather and give Apprentice Kelia:

  • Crac`tee Sample x2
  • Pirahna Sample x2
Apprentice Kelia tells you, 'Wow, that was fast. And these Piranha you've dispatched from the lake look vicious! You'll have to show me your techniques sometime. For now though, I need to cut these things open and see what's going on in there. Come back later and I'll tell you what I've discovered.'

You gain 75000 experience!!

You say, 'Hail, Apprentice Kelia'
Apprentice Kelia tells you, 'The fish from the lake look terrible! They must have contracted some illness. The crac`tee on the otherhand seem much healthier. They must be trying to escape whatever is tainting the piranhas.'
You say, 'The fish were also much more aggressive.'
Apprentice Kelia tells you, 'Now that IS a little strange. They sure don't look like they would be more aggressive; they look like they are about to die! Something around here, or in the lake must be causing this, and most of the wildlife in the forest comes here to drink. This could be even worse than we thought.'
[D1] You say, 'Need more help?'
[D2] You say, 'This sounds like it could be a problem. I feel obligated to do what I can to help.'
[D3] You say, 'I can help... if the price suits me.'
Apprentice Kelia tells you, 'We might be able to scrounge something up if you see this through to the end. Gelizal said he saw some mistmanes and co'dair in the forest behaving very strangely; perhaps whatever is affecting the crac`tee has gotten to them as well. Please go collect samples from the north as well as the south.'

Gather and give Apprentice Kelia:

  • Mistmane Sample (north)
  • Co`Dair Sampme (north)
  • Mistmane Sample (south)
  • Co`Dair Sample (south)
Apprentice Kelia tells you, 'Back again so soon? And with all of the samples! You've really been a big help to us out here. It's hard to leave home, but we know the work we are doing out here is helping all of our families and friends back in the Murk. I'm going to take these over to Kesae and try to help her with the samples you have collected. I believe Gehrin wanted to speak with you. Please, if you could...'

You gain 75000 experience!!

Your faction standing with The Gruplok has gotten better!

You say, 'Hail, Apprentice Gehrin'
Apprentice Gehrin tells you, 'So it WAS you helping out Kelia! You know, when I first saw you I didn't think you looked like much.'
[D1] Excuse me?
[D2] Care to test me? Useless swamp frogs...
[D3] Be at ease, I assure you I am strong enough.
You say, 'Excuse me?'
Apprentice Gehrin looks a little ashamed.
Apprentice Gehrin tells you, 'Sorry! Erm... that didn't come out quite right. Let me start this over. My name is Gehrin. I was hoping you could help me with something because I er... exaggerated my prowess to Gelizal a little bit.'
You say, 'That is better... What did you have in mind?'
Apprentice Gehrin tells you, 'Kesae and Kelia studied the crac`tee and Piranha samples you brought back, and there is a foreign substance infecting the sick-looking fish. They were able to extract a small, pure sample. I wanted to test it out and figured you would be best suited for the job.'
You say, 'Go on...'
Apprentice Gehrin tells you, 'In the time I've spent here with Gelizal, I've learned a few things about the beasts in this forest. Now take the elhasaurs for example. They're such fat dumb slobs you could beat a drum while standing on top of wone and they wouldn't even notice. That's why I want you to administer the purified sample to one.'
You say, 'You want to see if the fluid will enrage it like the other animals?'
Apprentice Gehrin tells you, 'Err... ya. But we can't do it out in the jungle, we need to observe the results carefully. The elhasaur are herbivores and their favorite plant is the Fogfoil, which only grows on the sides of the mountains here from where the fog settles. If you give them some I am sure they will follow you around for a brief period, hoping you will feed them more.'
You say, 'So you want me to bring it back?'
Apprentice Gehrin tells you, 'If you could, please. That way we can all witness what kind of reaction the beast will have to the substance... Here is the fluid for when you return. And one more thing... fogfoil is quite rare and elhasaur can sometimes be tricky to find despite their large size. Please... don't give up on us.'

You receive Tainted Fluid Sample from Apprentice Gehrin.

Find a Fogfoil (ground spawn) and then look for an elhasaur. Give the Fogfoil to the elhasaur. This will temporarily charm the elhasaur and make it follow you.
- Make sure you have NO pet when you do this or the Fogfoil will be lost and you have to find a new one!

You have befriended the Elhasaur for a short time by giving it some Fogfoil.

Now make your way back to the camp where Apprentice Gehrin is. Once there, give the Tainted Fluid Sample to the elhasaur.

You gain 100000 experience!!

The substance enrages the elhasaur as it begins to lash out.
Your Slave of Shiritri spell affecting an elhasaur has worn off.
An elhasaur is dazed.

Kill the elhasaur.

You say, 'Hail, Apprentice Gehrin'
Apprentice Gehrin tells you, 'That gave me quite a scare! I don't believe I have ever seen one act so viciously before... Anyway, it looks like we found out what is causing the problem, now we just need to find out where it is coming from.'
You say, 'Any ideas?'
Apprentice Gehrin tells you, 'I haven't been out in the jungle as often as I once was. It seems likely that the infected animals have all drunk from the lake. If you find anything, please bring it back to Kesae. She wants to examine a natural specimen up close.'

Your faction standing with The Gruplok has gotten better!

Head to where the aquaduct (brown line on the map) ends at the lake. If you move around here you will notice an emote!

A globe of slime descends from the top of the aqueducts, crashing down next to you.

Kill the a pulsating pool, loot a Pulsating Slime Sample and give it to Alchemist Kesae.

Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'Ahh... So you were the one that has been helping Gehrin and Kelia. I am glad that there are those in this world that have more on their mind than power and slaves. Please let me examine what you found.'
You say, 'Hail, Alchemist Kesae'
Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'There is little doubt that this is the same substance we extracted from those twisted forest creatures. Where did you say you found this again?'
You say, 'It came from the top of the aqueducts and attacked me.'
Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'Attacked you? But the small amount we found from the beasts was not violent on its own. Maybe if enough gathered... Ohh no...'
Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'The sample bursts from its container and joins with the one you have brought back.'

The a pulsating pool respawns on top of you, this time stronger then before. Kill it again!

You say, 'Hail, Alchemist Kesae'
Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'That was rather frightening, in more ways than one. It appears that whatever this is it cannot be stopped permanently. At least not through any means we know of right now.'
You say, 'I agree. But killing it over and over again is not a good solution.'
Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'Since we do not travel far from the Murk often, this area, like much of Ikisith, is full of mystery to us Gruplok. I know of a story I have heard from the elders of our village, but I do now know how much merit it actually holds. Part of the reason I am out here is to find if there is any truth in it. I can share the pieces that might be related to this if you wish.'
You say, 'Better than nothing at this point.'
Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'For ages this jungle has been a safe home to all who lived here. An entity known as the Caretaker watched over it, nurturing and protecting it with powerful magic. He was a being of great power, and all the tales tell that he was roused to wrath only once, when they came.'
You say, 'They?'
Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'A group of greedy Kaezulians that wanted to trap and poach the rarest animals for sale back in Ikildian markets. The Caretaker tried coerce them to leave and preserve the balance, but the hunters seemed to be protected from his power. Finally, his rage could no longer be contained, and the Caretaker lost control.'
You say, 'Did something happen to the Caretaker?'
Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'Its rage could not be contained. The Caretaker tore itself asunder, separating its healing nurturing half from its wrath, and raw power. The intruders were consumed swiftly, but the damage had been done. The Caretaker found that it was unable join together as a single entity again, and its hate was free to roam unchecked. While all the legends are clear that the halves were unable to rejoin, there is also never any mention of the Caretaker's wrath again. I suppose that good will always triumph?'
You say, 'This sounds almost like a childrens story.'
Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'Most of these legends are. I do not believe in much of it, but the part about the two separate entities intrigues me. It might be possible that such beings exist within the Remnants. Something that Gruploks of past generations observed that was spun into a childrens tale. You have seen a forestlight, no?'
[D1] Yes, I have.
[D2] No, I have not, and why would it be called a forestlight when it lives in the jungle?
You say, 'Yes, I have.'
Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'Then you might have noticed that it induces the animals nearby to be more docile. Not only that, but I have witnessed plant life growing much more quickly when one is nearby. They might be the disparate pieces of the entity of harmony that was in the story.'
You say, 'Then what of the entity of chaos?'
Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'I fear that the substance that attacked you, and has been infecting these animals may be it. In the stories it is said that the entities will destroy each other if brought together. That might be exactly what we are seeing right now from the strange substance we have collected.'
You say, 'We should test to see how it reacts when in the presence of a forestlight.'
Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'I think so too... Here take this jar and use it to capture one. I doubt it will come without a fight, so you may have to weaken it some before you are able to capture it. But I believe you can do it. For once in my life I believe in the aid of outsiders.'

You receive Crude Jar from Alchemist Kesae.

Locate 'A forestlight' and attack it untill it is 30% hp and less.

a forestlight weakens.

Now give the Crude Jar to the forestlight, two things can happen:

The forestlight escapes
The forestlight narrowly escapes your attempts to capture it.
a forestlight returned Crude Jar to you.

You capture the forestlight (go on untill you get this result)
You capture the weakened forestlight within the jar.
You receive 'Captured Forestlight' from a forestlight.

Give the Captured Forestlight to Alchemist Kesae.

Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'Well lets see what...'

Your faction standing with The Gruplok has gotten better!

The fluid begins to convulse rapidly in the presence of the forestlight. Eventually evaporating into nothing.

You say, 'Hail, Alchemist Kesae'
Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'That was... unexpected to say the least. I imagined it would react, but not that violently or suddenly. Well, looks like we know how to get rid of the taint that is affecting the wildlife.'
You say, 'We cannot cleanse the whole jungle in this manner...'
Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'Very true, but we might be able to stop it from continuing its spread if we can find the source.'
You say, 'Source?'
Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'It all goes back to the story. The forestlights would be an extension of harmony while this filth would be an extension of chaos. But these smaller spirits must be coming from a larger source. If we can find and defeat the source of chaos then it should stop the spread. That is of course assuming one exists'
You say, 'It would most likely be holed up in the aqueducts.'
Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'That may be. I personally have no idea. Gelizal might be able to help shed some light on how to get up top if you would speak with him. But before you go...'
You say, 'Yes?'
Alchemist Kesae Fiddles around the jar with the forestlight in it.
Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'Here, take the forestlight with you. I believe it might prove useful in your journeys ahead. Carrying it in your pack should be sufficient to protect you from the smaller forces of chaos. Good luck out there...'

You receive Trapped Forestlight Trinket from Alchemist Kesae.

Your faction standing with The Gruplok has gotten better!

You say, 'Hail, Stalker Gelizal.'
Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'What do you require of me <Player Name> ? I know what you have done for our people. I knew before you even took a step into the Remnants. And I know you mean no harm.'
You say, 'I was told you might be able to help me find a way to the top of the ancient aqueducts.'
Alchemist Kesae tells you, 'It's an imposing landmark, isn't it? I've never dared to scale it myself, but I've spent much time hunting and scouting around it, and I think I've spied a safe passage up. Look for it on the northern side of the aqueducts near the water's edge. And go prepared, what you face up top will be more than you could ever handle alone.'

You gain 150000 experience!!
