Helping Vaton

Note: Illusion: Wood Elf will make you non-KoS to the animals in the zone making the quest much more bearable if you are not a Ranger or a Druid who have this privilege by default.

Help Vaton by trapping different types of mobs in the zone for him:

• Bears x 10
• Rabbits x 10
• Wolves x 10
• Mountain Lions x 10
• Frogs x 5 (be sure to keep any poison you find if you end up killing them)
• Owlbears x 2
• Bees x 5

Note: Highly recommencement to use a DEX buff such as Relic: Essence of the Wild since this will improve your changes of trapping your target.

Help Bee Keeper Bructok before he dies for some honey.

Find Vaton, the Master Trainer (Forest of the Fallen  at -1060, 820, -5  • In the giant fort)

You say, 'Hail, Vaton, the Master Trainer'

Vaton, the Master Trainer says, 'Hello <Player Name>, Tigan has told me a lot about you.'

You say, 'Tell me about yourself, Vaton.'

Vaton, the Master Trainer says, 'I am Vaton, trainer of the sworn. I have a menagerie of various forest fauna that I have trained to do all sorts of things.'

You say, 'What sort of things?'

Vaton, the Master Trainer says, 'All kinds of things, anything from fighting to being beasts of burden to being friendly companions. Unfortunately, I've lost several in my collection. I haven't been able to trap more like I had wanted to, but with the Yiv killing our food hunters, I've been too scared to leave the fortress.'

You say, 'Anything I can do to help?'

Vaton, the Master Trainer says, 'Perhaps <Player Name>. If you could go do some trapping for me, I could get more creatures trained. Would you do that for me?'

You say, 'Yes, I would be happy to help you.'

Vaton, the Master Trainer says, 'Great <Player Name>, your help will be appreciated. I will give you a trap, take it and try to capture the animals with it. Dexterity is crucial in capturing these animals.'

You say, 'How will I capture the animals?'

Vaton, the Master Trainer says, 'I will give you a trap, get close to the animal and try to trap them. If you're successful, all is well. If you fail, chances are they will become aggressive towards you.'

Note: Over the course of this quest Vaton will have you trap several different kinds of animals that roam in the forest. Any Dexterity buffs will help you greatly in succeeding, but if you do fail the animals may or may not gain strength of their own. To use the trap, simply right click it in your ammo slot while in close proximity of the animal.

Bears

You say, 'Okay, give me the trap.'

Vaton, the Master Trainer says, 'I ask that you begin with the Grizzly Bears, <Player Name>. When they are trained, they make excellent defenders. I believe ten will be sufficient for now. Great dexterity will help you catch animals.'

Vaton, the Master Trainer says, 'The next animal I need trapped is the mountain lion. They are quite difficult to trap successfully, so I expect trapping ten of them will take you some time. That's what I need though, ten.'

You say, 'Ten it is, I'll be back as soon as I can.'

Vaton, the Master Trainer says, 'I will be waiting.'

You say, 'Don't beat around the bush, Vaton, what animal do you need now?'

Vaton, the Master Trainer says, 'I understand how tedious this has been for you, <Player Name>. But please know that it is important that I train these animals as quickly as possible. They are an added line of defense against our enemies once properly trained.'

You say, 'I understand, and I'm happy to help the cause.'

Vaton, the Master Trainer says, 'Good <Player Name>, I'm glad to have your help. Now, let's see...Something poisonous...Ahh! Yes, frogs. Capture five of the frogs in the forest, they have a deadly poison. Be careful with those though <Player Name>. Their poison can be dangerous, and the smaller the frog, the deadlier the poison.'

North of here, near where you spoke to the shade, you will find bees of the Bzztzz hive. Bructok lives near them and is their keeper. He has gotten word to me that they have become aggressive lately. I need you to go capture five of the smaller workers. Don't try to capture the giant ones, they're deadly and if you try and fail I fear you will die.'

Bee Keeper Bructok

You say, 'Hail, Vaton, the Master Trainer'

Vaton, the Master Trainer says, 'Hello again, <Player Name>. I've been studying the Bzztzz workers you captured for me, it seems there is something different about them. Maybe Bructok will know something about it.'

You say, 'Bructok? Tell me more about him.'

Vaton, the Master Trainer says, 'Bructok is a small giant, it's rare but it does happen. We generally exile them to fend for themselves but he's also sort of the village idiot. We gave him the job to handle the bees and collect honey for us. He does a great job so we've just accepted him as our village idiot. Find him and see if he's noticed anything different with the Bzztzz.'

Find Bee Keeper Bructok (Forest of the Fallen  at 1130, 1550  • Under a small overhang)

You say, 'Hail, Bee Keeper Bructok'

Bee Keeper Bructok says, 'Hello <Player Name>, nice to see you again.'

You say, 'I can't help but notice that you're smaller than the others.'

Bee Keeper Bructok says, 'Unfortunately that is true, and it's also why I'm not allowed to live in the fort. I've been exiled by my people because I cannot fight.'

You say, 'Why would that matter?'

Bee Keeper Bructok says, 'The evil one, Kaezul, requires my people to give him the strongest members of our tribe to fight his war. I cannot fight, therefore I cannot live there. Guorth and the others are afraid that Kaezul would see me as an outsider like yourself and send in forces to destroy what's left of us.'

You say, 'That's why I was told not to go in there.'

Bee Keeper Bructok says, 'Probably so. Anyway, I spend my time here tending to the bees. Unfortunately I haven't been able to collect honey lately.'

You say, 'Why not?'

Bee Keeper Bructok says, 'They have become very aggressive lately. I suspect the Yiv or their allies have been killing them for their honey. I'm too weak to fight them anyway.'

You say, 'Maybe I could investigate.'

Bee Keeper Bructok says, 'That would help a great deal, <Player Name>. If you find anything, please let me know.'

You say, 'I sure will.'

You say, 'Hail, Bee Keeper Bructok'

Bee Keeper Bructok says, 'Have you found anything out yet, <Player Name>?'

You say, 'Yes, I have found evidence.'

Bee Keeper Bructok says, 'Hand to me what you have found, <Player Name>. Let me have a look.'

Gather and give Bee Keeper Bructok:

• A Jar of Stolen Bzztzz Honey

Bee Keeper Bructok nods, 'Yes, <Player Name>. It appears that the Yiv are behind this. Go see if you can catch them in the act.'

Head East towards the Bzztzz Hive.

The brush moves suspiciously in the distance.

Kill a yiv goblin thief and return to Bee Keeper Bructok.

You say, 'Hail, Bee Keeper Bructok'

Bee Keeper Bructok says, 'Great work, <Player Name>. You have caught them red-handed and stopped the thief. Maybe now they will be less aggressive towards me. If you'll excuse me, I have to tend to my bees.'

You gain 10,000 experience!!

At this point Bee Keeper Bructok will begin to head East towards the Bzztzz Hive.

Bee Keeper Bructok gathers some honey from the hive.

Bee Keeper Bructok shouts, 'No! Noooo! HELP! They are attacking me!'

Note: You do *NOT* need to help.

Note: He will shout this even if the Bzztzz Hive is not up and there are no bee's on him.

Bee Keeper Bructok shouts, 'I...was...wrong...bees...deadly...tell Vaton!!'

Bee Keeper Bructok gasps as the Bzztzz poison courses through his veins.

Bee Keeper Bructok draws in his last breath as the poison reaches his heart. 'Telllll...Vatonnnn'

The Queen Bzztzz

Return to Vaton, the Master Trainer.

You say, 'Hail, Vaton, the Master Trainer'

Vaton, the Master Trainer says, 'Hello again, <Player Name>. Were you able to find Bructok?'

You say, 'I was, he was attacked by the Bzztzz, he's dead.'

Vaton, the Master Trainer sighs heavily, 'The bees have become abnormally aggressive. I'm afraid we're going to have to purge this hive.

You say, 'What do you mean, 'purge the hive'?'

Vaton, the Master Trainer says, 'If the Queen dies, the workers will die too. The drones will choose another queen and the hive will start over. Hopefully they will be new and unagressive at that point.'

You say, 'So you want me to kill the Queen?'

Vaton, the Master Trainer says, 'Yes <Player Name>, it must be done. Our scouts have reported the Queen to the west. Hurry!'

Note: Yiv High Chieftain Glizik is a raid mob. If he is not up you may be able to spawn a * (star) version of the mob that will not drop any other loot than his head for the quest.

Apparently the * (star) version of this mob as been removed from the game, however the commands to activate it is still in the game.
