Fair Coralia says, 'That man on the shore over yonder. He made… advances on me. And when I tried to escape, he threw a crab at me! Luckily for me and for the crab, he missed.'

You say, 'Why have you not swum farther along the shore? Surely, you can find a place far from such a brute.'

Fair Coralia says, 'I fled in such a hurry that I left something dear behind. My hairbrush. I left it on the rocks and saw that man pocket it for himself! A mere trinket, I know, but it was a gift from my late mother. Please, will you retrieve it for me? I dare not go near him myself.'

Lawful

You say, '[LAWFUL] So the man is a thief as well as a lecher. Ordinarily, I would trust the Newport guard to carry out justice, but your being a mermaid puts this beyond their jurisdiction. Very well, I'll help. I'll return your rightful property, my lady.'

The mermaid twirls in excitement.

Fair Coralia says, 'What an honorable <Player Race> you are! I’ll wait here. Take care, however. He is a pushy man...'

You say, '[CHAOTIC] Finders, keepers. Or that's what I'd usually say, but you've caught me in a good mood. I'll make an exception for one of the merfolk. Besides, I do enjoy roughing up the occasional scoundrel. What's life without a little vigilante justice?'

The mermaid twirls in excitement.

Fair Coralia says, 'What a rebellious Half Elf you are! I’ll wait here. Take care, however. He is a pushy man...'

The beach bum stops his muttering as you approach.

You say, 'I come on behalf of that mermaid just offshore. She claims you were rude and that you pocketed a belonging of hers.'

a belligerent beach bum says, 'So the fish found a hero. So what if I was rough with her? Every tale I've heard paints her kind as temptresses. I was merely taking the initiative!'

The man smirks.

You say, 'Hand it over, ruffian. And leave her alone in the future or you'll have me to reckon with.'

He puts down his fishing rod and picks up his only catch of the day...

a belligerent beach bum says, 'Alright, alright! I'm not cut out to be a fighter. You can have her lousy hairbrush back. Who gets it?'

Returning the Hairbrush

Return to Fair Coralia (Southern Newport  at 221, 173, -24  • North of the dock area in a cove) .

You say, 'Hail, Fair Coralia'

Fair Coralia says, 'I saw your feat from the water! Did you find my item?'

Give Hairbrush of Brughwar Ivory to Fair Coralia.

The mermaid presses the hairbrush to her breast and smiles.

Fair Coralia says, 'You have my deepest gratitude. Please, let me do something to repay you. I haven't much, but I do have a small collection of odds and ends that I've found. Tell me your class, <Player Name>, and I shall find something to suit you.'

Each class then has it's own reward and dialogue:

Bard

Fair Coralia says, 'A musician! I could tell from that melodic voice. We merfolk have our share of songs, as you know. From one musician to another, I grant you not an object, but a new friend. Please, take this handsome fish. He can sing alongside you in battle while shielding you from the occasional attack. He needs just enough water to wet his throat for singing, but otherwise, he's happy to spend some time on land. Take good care of him, my dear Bard!'

You receive Crooning Cod.
