Find Umaevio (Greater Faydark  at -497, -137, 77  • South building on platform with pottery supplier.)

You say, 'Hail, Umaevio'
Umaevio stops his packing and turns to address you.
Umaevio says, 'Ah yes, here comes another eager to learn of my newest creation.'
You say, 'Your creation? I don’t understand.'
Umaevio says, 'What? Is it possible that you have not heard of the masterwork of Umaevio when I have been inundated with admirers determined to ply me with questions on how I accomplished this triumphant creation?'
You say, 'Could you tell me more?'
Umaevio says, 'Of course I can! It is the duty of a master such as myself to share my insights with the less informed.'
Umaevio clears his throat and continues
Umaevio says, 'All of the top level arcane sculptors have a specialty. Mine is that I am able to work with any type of stone and am not limited to granite, alabaster, or only the more common materials as are many of my supposed peers. Even so, in all my years I had never before seen such a marvel as this! One of the Seekers of Erimal delivered it to me, a full four times my own height, all of a single piece of magnificent variegated grey stone.'
You say, 'Four times your height? That is astonishing! What did they ask you to carve?'
Umaevio says, 'A humanoid statue, as large as I could manage with the piece I was given. I was also handed a scroll with specific glyphs that were to be painted upon its surface in blue and some incantations to be read while doing so. Other than that, my only orders were to see that ten holes of a very specific size were placed about the body of the statue.'
You say, 'Well if it was such a fine piece of work, why would they ask you to leave holes in it?'
Umaevio says, 'How would I know? In truth I didn’t trouble myself to ask. They had the good sense to bring this glorious block of stone to the best in the business, so I am sure they knew what they were doing.'
You say, 'It just seems odd to me to hand over something so impressive and not tell you what it was for. Maybe you didn’t understand what they wanted.'
Umaevio looks offended
Umaevio says, 'It is clear to me that you are too ignorant to understand the value of a piece of true art. Are not the finest temples of all orders graced with sculptures from the old masters? Your accusation is intolerably rude and I tire of speaking with a dunce. I suggest you seek out the work itself and then perhaps you will see what genius may produce when unfettered by common details and the questions of fools. I understand it is located somewhere outside of Erimal. Begone.'

I met an arcane sculptor named Umaevio. He told me of a marvellous statue he created. Perhaps I will go see it - it is located outside of Erimal.

Find Glyph Statue (Valley of Erimal  at 1016, -79, 3  • Left along wall as you enter the large grass field from Mistwoods.)

You say, 'Hail, Glyph Statue'
The sculptor was right, the statue is amazing. You notice arcane runes all over the statue and 10 small recesses in various locations.

Your journal has been updated. [Deaths Veil]

I saw the statue. There are recesses for something, but what?

Go back to Umaevio (Greater Faydark  at -497, -137, 77  • South building on platform with pottery supplier.)

You say, 'Hail, Umaevio' Umaevio says, 'Oh, you again, did you go see my statue?'
You say, 'I did, and it is a striking piece of work, but it still has those holes in it.'
Umaevio says, 'Have you got a point besides the one on your head? I know about the holes, I told you that they were there. Why are you bringing this up yet again?'
You say, 'Yes you did, but surely they are meant to hold something. Don’t you have any ideas on what? It seems a shame to see your fine work marred by gaps.'
Umaevio says, 'Well since you put it that way and as you will clearly give me no peace of mind until you get some sort of answer, I will tell you this much. The one who picked up the statue asked if I knew of anyone who was good with runes. You will recall I explained that the best artisans have a specialty? Kabryt is our runes expert. Now truly, I have no more time for you. I must get to work on this order. Marble doesn’t carve itself, you know.'

Your journal has been updated. [Deaths Veil]

Umaevio suggested I go see a rune specialist named Kabryt about the glyph statue. I wish he had told me where to find him...

Find Kabryt (Erudin Palace  at 858, 738, 67  • On the third floor of the Tower of The Crimson Hands, Wizard, Building.)

You say, 'Hail, Kabryt'
Kabryt says, 'Hello there stranger, can I help you with something?'
You say, 'Umaevio hinted that you might know something about the holes in his statue. When I asked about them he told me that his customer asked after a runes specialist and was given your name.'
Kabryt says, 'Did he now? What would you like to know?'
You say, 'The 10 recesses, they must have a purpose. Do you know what they are for?'
Kabryt says, 'To be honest, I'm not entirely sure. I was given specific needs from the emissaries of Erimal, and I did as I was asked. I can't help but be interested myself, so I began researching it. It turns out the runes are broken into two parts, a shell, and a gem which powers it.'
You say, 'Is that all?'
Kabryt says, 'Patience! As I was saying, I'm not entirely sure what it's used for. I do know, however, that the rune shells themselves were scattered throughout the lands in order to reduce the risk they would all fall into the wrong hands. Those shells, along with their gems, form a completed rune.'
You say, 'Go on.'
Kabryt says, 'Well, I long ago knew a man by the name of Davad Tyaduesti who specializes in such matters. An odd fellow, but he suggested one method of powering the runes - nightmare gems. Unfortunately, the gems appear to be attuned to a specific shell, thus I have not made much progress in sorting this out.'
You say, 'Perhaps I can help...'
Kabryt says, 'I admit, I would like to see what happens. Alright, I can share the information I got from Davad about the gems and their purported locations. This parchment may help.'

You receive Nightmare Gems in Dalaya.

You say, 'So how do I complete these runes?'
Kabryt says, 'Oh that part is simplicity itself. Place the gem into the corresponding shell's socket, add a measure of acidic solvent, and place in a forge. The gem will be bound to the rune.'
You say, 'I shall begin immediately'
Kabryt says, 'Excellent, I can't wait to hear what you have discovered!'

Your journal has been updated. [Deaths Veil]

Kabryt told me that the holes in the Erimal statue were for runes! The runes have two parts: a shell and a gem. Combined with acidic solvent in a forge, the rune is completed and can be placed in a recess in the statue. He has no idea what will happen when I have done all this

Gather and give Glyph Statue (Valley of Erimal  at 1016, -79, 3  • Left along wall as you enter the large grass field from Mistwoods.) 10 Completed Runes:

The rune fits neatly into a recess in the statue.

Your journal has been updated. [Deaths Veil]

I inserted the runes into the statue, and was quite surprised when a projection appeared before it!

Projection of Shaina (Valley of Erimal  at 1022, -108, 3  • Spawns just East of Glyph Statue.) appears.

You say, 'Hail, Projection of Shaina'
Thoughts invade your own...'We meet again, <Player Name>. You have deciphered the statue's mystery, which means you are resourceful enough to be of some assistance. It is unwise to tarry here. This totem will take you to a safe meeting place, but can only be used in this sanctuary. Please join me at your earliest convenience.'

You receive Totem of the Temple.

Thoughts invade your own...'We must not talk here, <Player Name>. Use this totem to meet me somewhere safer.'

Find Projection of Shaina (Lzaefyn, Seekers' Sanctuary at -897, -722, 36  • Center of the platform just South from zone in.)

You say, 'Hail, Projection of Shaina'
Projection of Shaina says, 'Thank you for coming <Player Name>. We have not yet been formally introduced, but as I said, my name is Shaina. I am the founder of the Keepers of Erimal.'
Projection of Shaina says, 'My apologies if I appeared discourteous. My duties as founder of the Seekers of Erimal have become particularly taxing of late and I must be cautious.'
You say, 'Your job has become harder? How so?'
Projection of Shaina says, 'I have been using energy built upon the barrier between the living and the dead to sustain me in the eternal struggle against Kaezul and his corrupt magic. I have sensed that this bond has become weak, and I now know that unknown individuals are attempting to destroy this bond.'
You say, 'That is troublesome, but you seem to have everything under control.'
Projection of Shaina says, 'So far, yes. However, as the enemies of Dalaya well know, the barrier is at its thinnest this time of the year. I fear I will soon require the assistance of The Four Ritualists.'
You say, 'Who are The Four Ritualists?'
Projection of Shaina says, 'The Four Ritualists are practitioners of very particular magical arts, and are familiar with rituals that date back millennia. Rituals that are known to very few.'
You say, 'Do you suspect some or all of these...Ritualists...to be responsible for your situation?'
Projection of Shaina suddenly looks very upset, and you fear you may have crossed a line. Her eyes flare with an angry red light.
Projection of Shaina says, 'You presume to think you understand their motivations? They are among the most stalwart protectors of Dalaya! *You* are more a likely suspect than any of them!'
You say, 'I apologize, Lady Shaina. I meant no disrespect.'
Projection of Shaina regains her composure.
Projection of Shaina says, 'My apologies. I am not accustomed to such a situation, and even I sometimes react inappropriately. Back to the matter at hand, I need you to reach out to each of the ritualists and gain their assistance at once.'
You say, 'Why don’t you get in touch with them?'
Projection of Shaina's intensity returns.
Projection of Shaina says, 'If I had time or energy to spare, I would have already done so instead of contracting the overly pompous Umaevio to build my test. At least Kabryt was more amiable. Now are you willing to help or not?'
You say, 'Of course I will help. Who should I seek?'
Projection of Shaina looks relieved.
Projection of Shaina says, 'Your help is appreciated by not only me, but all of Dalaya, whether they realize it or not. Hand me your journal and I will write whom you should seek. You may find the portal out of this temple in the room behind me.'

I am to find four ritualists to perform a counter-ritual: A Taldorian, who is a master of the arcane arts; a Vah, known as a healer among his people; an othmir who dabbles with divine magic; and an Ysthar. Where to find an Ysthar that doesn't want to kill me though...

You say, 'Hail, Projection of Shaina'
Projection of Shaina says, 'Thank you, <Player Name>. The ritualists have arrived and are preparing. We will need your strength as well, and so I advise gathering assistance. I have enabled your temple totem to transport your allies when you next return to the temple. Simply have them near you in Erimal and they will join us here.'

Your journal has been updated. [Deaths Veil]

Shaina has modified my totem to bring my allies with me next time I return to the temple. It sounds like I should be prepared for a fierce battle.

Projection of Shaina says, 'My ritualists are ready, but I should warn you that once the counter-ritual has begun our opponents will be able to trace the magical energies to pinpoint our location. It should take them a little while, but I do expect fierce resistance and would suggest you gather allies. I have altered your totem such that you will bring your allies with you if they are near you when next you come. When you are prepared to battle our enemies, let me know and we shall begin.'
You say, 'I am prepared.'
Projection of Shaina says, 'So be it.'
The room fills with a strange hum as the ritualists begin a chant in a language unlike anything you've ever heard. You see Shaina's projection concentrating intensely and occasionally being enveloped by spells that look oddly familiar.
You hear a distant, ethereal voice. 'Master, I told you I did not exaggerate my scrying abilities! As promised, I have located those who oppose your will.'
An angry voice, louder and clearer than the last, shouts, 'Quiet you fool! It took you long enough. Cease your useless babbling and open the rift. Locate a suitable subject immediately and make sure it doesn't realize it has been displaced.'
A rift opens in the corner of the temple. You can see partially into it and it appears...something...is coming through!
The final counter-ritual has begun. You have 60 minutes to defend the temple against its invaders.
Garax the Brawler looks confused as it wanders through the portal. It halts some distance away from you and your allies, dazed and clearly unaware of where it is.
The servant's voice rings out, 'The first subject has been deployed and shows no signs of awareness.'
Garax the Brawler lets out a barking laugh, 'I shall enjoy crushing your frail form!'

Kill Garax the Brawler.

Lady Shaina shouts, '<Player Name>, I must speak with you at once!
You hear a *clunk* from the corner of the temple.
You say, 'Hail, Projection of Shaina'
Shaina looks exhausted.
Projection of Shaina says, 'Listen to me, <Player Name>. They have found us more quickly than I had anticipated, and the remaining part of the ritual requires substantial concentration. I need you and your allies to defend this temple while we finish the counter-ritual. If it becomes too challenging, call on me, though the longer you can hold them off, the better the chance we have to succeed. Now go, please, and do all that you can. Dalaya is counting on you.'
The angry voice bellows, 'Incompetence! You send a weakling to take on such a powerful enemy?! I shall flay the skin from you if this is the best you can do!'
The servant responds nervously, 'I...I know master! I am merely testing my ability to hold the illusion during displacement! I will send another, more powerful being, do not worry!'
The rift in the corner waxes and wanes, and a shadowy figure can be seen emerging from within.
Captain Tigribl looks confused as it wanders through the portal. It halts some distance away from you and your allies, dazed and clearly unaware of where it is.
Note: You may stop at any time and still get the reward. Killing harder mobs will add one item from their loot table to the chest to open at the end of the event.
You say, 'Hail, Projection of Shaina'
Projection of Shaina says, 'This is a dangerous time to lose concentration, <Player Name>. Are you certain it is wise to divert our attention to the rift?'
You say, 'Yes, I require your aid, these beings are simply too powerful.'
Shaina winces briefly as her projection becomes much dimmer. A brilliant flash of light envelops the temple. When your eyesight returns both the rift and your enemies have disappeared.
You have a maximum of 30 minutes to loot the chest!
Projection of Shaina says, 'With the help of you and your allies we have been successful. Moreover, I believe we have completely countered the ritual. I know not who would do such a thing, be it Kaezul or some other force. One thing is absolutely clear: the Seekers face a dangerous enemy. I need a moment to recover, and then I will speak further with you.'
The projection fades away and appears again a short while later.
Art Master Tergon fades away, his task complete.
Ryhajin Kajek fades away, his task complete.
Entomologist Hissili fades away, her task complete.
Healer Crachek fades away, his task complete.
You say, 'Hail, Projection of Shaina'
Projection of Shaina says, 'We are taking steps to ensure the link to the barrier is more secure, as well as to locate those responsible for attempting to destroy it. In the meantime, the Seekers have been working with some unusual magics, derived from moonlight of all things. They have designed a set of artifacts powered by the moon which should prove exceedingly useful. To thank you for your assistance, I would gift you with one. If it is not to your liking, give it back to me and I will find a different artifact for you. Once you are pleased with your reward, simply tell me 'I have the item I want.'

You receive:

  • Token of Major Lunar Resilience
  • Token of Major Lunar Agility
  • Token of Major Lunar Power
  • Token of Major Lunar Health
You say, 'Hail, Projection of Shaina'
Projection of Shaina says, 'Hand me your item if you would like something different, unless you already have the item you want.'
You say, 'I have the item I want.'
Projection of Shaina says, 'Thank you again for your help, <Player Name>.'

You have completed a quest. [Deaths Veil]

The counter-ritual was a success, and Shaina is taking steps to ensure that her connection to the ethereal barrier cannot be so easily disrupted in the future.

Note: You may also continue to kill increasingly more difficult mobs.

Kill Captain Tigribl.

You hear a *clunk* from the corner of the temple.
The angry voice rings out once again, 'You call this an improvement?! Perhaps you need further motivation! Bring me his child!'
The first voice replies, 'N...no please, I am gaining power by the moment! I shall continue sending our weapons until they are defeated!
The rift in the corner waxes and wanes, and a shadowy figure can be seen emerging from within.
Warlord Pripitraliti the Great looks confused as it wanders through the portal. It halts some distance away from you and your allies, dazed and clearly unaware of where it is.
