Find Anchorite Pogwog (Zenn Malath  at 110, -30, 92  • Under the Great Tree) .

You say, 'Hail, Anchorite Pogwog'
Anchorite Pogwog says, 'Ah, the newest member of the anchorage. <Player Name>, was it? My wife must have sent you. I expect you've come to claim a guild weapon for yourself.'
You say, 'I have. How do I earn such a weapon?'
Anchorite Pogwog says, 'We at the anchorage believe the life of a Taldorian Monk is built upon three pillars -- strength, patience, and wisdom. You must complete a test in each of these before wielding one of our staves in service to the Master. Are you prepared to undertake these tests?'
You say, 'I am ready to begin, anchorite.'
Anchorite Pogwog says, 'Then let us begin with the Test of Strength. As a Monk, you must not shy away from battle. Prove you have the mettle to stand your ground in combat by slaying five sand scarabs of any shape or size. Return once you've completed this first task, young one, and I will know you possess the strength needed to wield the guild weapon.'

Kill 5 sand scarabs you will get a journal update when you have killed enough.

You say, 'Hail, Anchorite Pogwog'
Anchorite Pogwog says, 'I saw your feat from here, <Player Name>. Congratulations on completing the Test of Strength. You're in peak physical form, but there is far more to monkhood than physicality -- which brings us to the second test...'
You say, 'What is the second test, anchorite?'
Anchorite Pogwog says, 'For Dalayans who walk the path of our class, perhaps the greatest virtue is that of patience. The patience to bind your own wounds. The patience to perfect your kick. The patience to feign death as your enemy looms over your body. These are situations known to all seasoned Monks, and each requires immense endurance of will. Thus, next comes the Test of Patience. Are you prepared to take it?'

You gain 2000 experience!!

You say, 'I am. What must I do?'
Anchorite Pogwog says, 'For this test, I want you to contemplate the Great Tree behind me. It acts as a symbol of our creator, the Master. Like him, it is nurturing, steadfast, and independent. It weathers storms without bending. It shades its children from Elael without wilting. And like the Master, it was here long before we Taldorians arrived. Sit with your fellow hopefuls and ponder these things in silent meditation for five minutes. Then, I will know you have the patience needed to wield the guild weapon. Take a seat and let me know when you're ready to begin.'

Sit down nearby.

You say, 'Hail, Anchorite Pogwog'
Anchorite Pogwog says, 'Meditate for five minutes, young one. Think on the Great Tree, the Master, and your chosen path...'
You clear your mind and ponder the Great Tree. You must remain seated for 5 minutes...
You can no longer speak.
Each breath becomes a conscious action. You must remain seated for 4 minutes...
Waves lap gently against the nearby shore. You must remain seated for 3 minutes...
A passing wind rattles the tree's branches. You must remain seated for 2 minutes...
The chirping of insects in the area begins to sound almost musical. You must remain seated for 1 minute...
An inner peace has entered your mind. You have completed your meditation and may stand.

You say, 'Hail, Anchorite Pogwog'
Anchorite Pogwog says, 'You have the patience needed to walk the path of the Monk, young one. Congratulations on completing the second test. Now, only the Test of Wisdom stands between you and your guild weapon. Do you wish to hear of this third and final test?'
You say, 'I do'
Anchorite Pogwog says, 'This test probes not your physical nor mental disposition, but your knowledge. Specifically, your knowledge of the Master. Though we Taldorians live in harmony with the Humans, Elves, and other races, we alone worship the Master. As such, each of us has a duty to understand the wisdom he left us while he was alive. For the Test of Wisdom, I shall ask you five questions regarding the Master and his teachings. You may consult a copy of the Tenets of Malath, if you desire. Are you ready to take the test?'

You gain 3000 experience!!

Next step is a lore quiz involving the book Tenets of Malth obtainable from Trader Cho in the anchorage building. Answers will not be posted due to rules concerning such quizzes.

After the quiz:

Anchorite Pogwog says, 'You have learned well. The wisdom of the Master lives on in your mind, young one. Congratulations on completing the Test of Wisdom. I believe you have earned something...'
He picks a staff from the pile and places it firmly in your hands.

You gain 5000 experience!!

You receive Crook of the Anchorite Hopeful.

Anchorite Pogwog says, 'These staves are carved from the fallen branches of the Great Tree. Each of them retains some of its wisdom -- a wisdom I trust you'll wield well. May this weapon serve you as well as you serve the Master, <Player Name>.'
