Good to see you active again Rari! -Tyrsell 13:31, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

You totally missed me <3. That whole "All my Wiki projects are on hold as I deal with various in game responsibilities" blurb on your userpage had me pouting that I wouldn't see you around for a while.
I've been a busy girl tonight, and I'm full of ideas. So much junk to make less messy first though, so I added a Brainstorm page (linked it at the top of my userpage) so I can write things down before I forget them. And not just put them in one of the 20 copies of Notepad I have open at any one time. Rari 13:35, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Editting

About the minor edit thing ... if I was just changing the format or spelling, I marked Minor but if I was rearranging items, I left it unchecked because I thought someone would pay attention to the page and notify me if I was doing something wrong. I have taken your advice and selected minor by default.

Thanks for the help :)

Formatting Question

I've got a formatting question, too. Assuming that you do not intend to replace the classic item layout with your itembox (and why would you since literally everyone in the game is used to seeing information presented in the 'classic' style) what is the point of all the information duplication between the two views? Why is this duplication desirable? Here is what I'm talking about I mean I know it is a work in progress but if you look at Ephemeral Sceptre and its item box, well you know what I'll take it slot by slot. "Loot" is a good idea because if an item comes from a merchant, a quest, a groundspawn, or a corpse is important information. "Type" less important because you can see it has stats and a slot in the classic view but I guess this is not precisely duplication. "Zone" and "Dropped By" are fine I mean it was messy just sitting under the item I guess. "Skill" unnecessary, this is clearly visible in the item screen. "Special Damage" same. "Effect", "Advanced Item Effects" both straight duplication. "Equipable to" is straight duplication and is named wrong anyway because the word is "Slot" and you know the word is "slot" because it says it right there on the classic view. On top of all this, a critical piece of information that should be in your itembox is not present! That's the strength of the instrument mod. I understand that you were probably going to add this in, but on the other hand you have added plenty that probably should not be there instead of it so I guess I do not see the aim of your plan. My point is if you are intending to replace the classic view, please don't because it is a bad idea and if you are not intending to replace the classic view then why duplicate all the information ok THAT'S IT.Slaariel 19:11, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

The reason the information is being included in the template is so that links are all in one location. This is important for utilizing this information when using other templates that sort items by the pages they link to. An example of this is the DPL template that will be used to sort mob loot. It finds all items that use the new item template and link to the mob's name, and those that match that criteria will be listed. The "classic view" as you put it has obviously been preserved, and items which were listed without that information have been marked as stubs (since I too feel its important to have present.) Does that answer your question? *Edit* I'm sorry, I didn't address the instrument mod issue, only because that IS included in the template, so I really don't understand what you mean by that.- Rari Talk 19:21, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Any particular reason you aren't linkifying the item effect in the main text of an item, and only doing so in the new side bar? Just stuck me as odd, and took me a second to realize where the click was. -Tyrsell 18:03, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Just didn't want to be doubling up the links. I didn't even think of it until I did the second or third category. (I'm on back slot right now; containers, arm/ammo slot, and made with tradeskills should all be done)- Rari Talk 18:05, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Works. I'm sure people will figure it out. You may want to contact Meyers, and see if you can't get his Wikitool to use the new format. Would probably ease the work load some, particularly when new items start to flood in from comercy and other zones. -Tyrsell 18:08, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Formatting Question II

Tried to use tempaltes for the Raid Tiers page, but the edit button on each individual tier does not do what I would have expected. Any way we can make it just bring up that individual tier for editing or am I SOL? Found a solution! -Tyrsell 15:15, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Question, I Suppose

Sorry, I thought I identified where it's source was. I'm new to the whole system, I'm just trying to make it clearer, hehe. Umm, am I doing this right? -Darkrhapsody 13:35, 31 March 2009 (PST)

Next time you can just reply on your talk page, so the conversation stays in one spot ;) Check out SODW:POLICY and SoDWiki:Formatting in the community portal, as well as Help:Contents (both Community Portal and Help have nav bars at the top that'll help you go through the relevant pages). Items are part of the project I'm working on right now - if you're dealing with an item that has an unknown source, you'll need to add it within the template before removing the stub/unknown source. Template:Item_infobox has the item template information, or if you still can't figure out how to do that, you can use the item's talk page to "get my attention" by adding the info there and I'll take care of it. Anything else I can help with? We all really appreciate the help, learning the system takes some work, and I'm glad to help with that where I can. - Rari Talk 20:47, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks Rari. I figured that out shortly after I edited the entry but I didn't want to re-edit it just to add the comment, I actually wasn't sure if you can just re-edit for a comment. Anyway lesson learned! <-- This comment was left by User:Fuwok

I deleted the talk page for you, but normally, just leave your talk page as is. I realize that info wasn't going to do you any good, so you have a fresh page ready to go now. - Rari Talk 19:47, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Adding Content

So I am, obviously, not so great at the making of the pages. Is there a way on the discussion page of each blank thing that I make where I can just put in the basics that I know, and let you or someone else fill in the rest on the ACTUAL page? Like adding mobs or anything? Would be a great help. It's frustrating to see the lack of endgame wiki info, and since I'm starting it, I figure I should help. Free it up somewhat from the uber farmers :)--Darkrhapsody 06:08, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

New stuff is awesome! You can use the talk pages to do that, but its cool if you just want to add straight to the page itself what you can and I'll clean it up later. The format isn't so bad once you get the hang of it, though. And feel free to ask me anything here or in IRC if you need any more help. - Rari Talk 06:12, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Just wanted to say thanks!

Appreciate the work you've put into making this wiki so much more useable! Hooch 14:50, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Man the items are really coming together! Impressive what a few extensions can allow. The focus effects pages really show the convenience of the new format. Really liked the Equipment set template too. -Tyrsell 13:36, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Yay, I'm glad you like it! I've only been working on the equip sets for a few hours. I keep thinking of fun new things - its so exciting when they work! <3 - Rari Talk 13:40, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

About spells

On spells (first noticed on Shaman for both cures and slows/debuffs/dots), it looks like:

"Poison Counter" in effects, correctly shows Poison Counter values
"Poison Counters" (plural) should actually read "Disease Counter" as it displays disease values.

I started making changes in a just a few places, but didn't know if there was an easier way to do so. I'll continue to make the changes, but thought it was worth making you, or maybe Tyrsell, aware in case this info could be changed en masse somehow (talk page was the only way I knew how to reach you). Thanks again for your work on the wiki!

Hooch, don't forget to ~~~~ your comments! :P Glad you're loving it, I'm having a good time making things pretty. Spells totally = Tyrsell. I'll link this to his talk page so he doesn't miss it. - Rari Talk 16:19, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Annoying error on sort/DPL

I was browsing the Haste list, and saw it was now sortable by haste amount! Naturally I clicked that, and found that its sorting is a bit borked. 10 is the lowest and 9 is near the end, obviously treating this column like a string rather than an integer. Anything we can do about that? -Tyrsell 16:33, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

This issue has come up on a few of the mod pages as well. The only solution on this one I can think of would be to do toss some zeroes at those single integers. 09% anyone? - Rari Talk 16:36, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Also, another issue comes up when some items have +#%, while other items are just +#. I'll bother Zae at some point about that one, most likely. I've gone through several of the lists already trying to even out those anomalies. Let me know if you notice anything else. - Rari Talk 16:41, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

focus pages not displaying properly in Internet Exploder

The recent changes in the focus pages (healing increment, range increment etc) display fine in Firefox but force you to side scroll for each tier when viewed in Internet Explorer.

Should be all better in IE now? - Rari Talk 02:47, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Winged zones layout

The new layout for Winged zones such as Tower of Tarhyl is an example of style over function. In the old system all the information was presented, mobs were categorized by wing without having to toggle anything. The addition of a field for their individual level range serves no real function given that they are all raid targets. The tables are actually less efficient for these kind of pages.

The charts automatically update, and they are sortable. If that means you have to click the sort button under location, that doesn't seem like the end of the world. The level field is used on all zones, and making a change would require more trouble than it would be worth. If the NPCs are updated with information for Class or Level, those fields will automatically be filled in.- Rari Talk 03:19, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Eye of Entropy Event

I'm not sure we should get in the habit of listing 'events' separately from boss fights. The line becomes very thin between the two as time goes on. Giving them their own heading is probably not necessary. -Tyrsell 12:35, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

I was trying to find a way to satisfy some complaints. The other suggestion was to not list NPCs separately, and I really didn't dig on that. - Rari Talk 12:37, 23 April 2009 (UTC) durr. I see what you mean I think. Would listing the events like on Tower of Tarhyl be right, though? - Rari Talk 12:42, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Mind if I ask what the complaint was? My biggest gripe atm is calling 'double' style fights events. I don't think anyone really thinks of Xardak and Kadrax of the Depths as an event, and by that definitions the Skywatchers would be considered an event too. Neither really fit into much more than, 'tank both do something else at the same time'. -Tyrsell 12:47, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

The complaint was that listing NPCs as individual NPCs, Xardak and Kadrax (among others), instead of as one article and then linking the items to both was "fussy" and hard to understand. - Rari Talk 12:50, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Entertaining. I can think of no occasions where the 'double' style mobs don't share a loot table. What are your feelings on guys like Raigol and Raizol, where the editor chose to just redirect one to the other and keep all the info in 1 spot? Also if having to choose, I prefer the way it was done on the ToT page.-Tyrsell 12:58, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Well, with Raigol and Raizol, I split them a while ago, you might notice. With the new system, it just seemed confusing [edit - because then only one of them would be listed on the NPCs table], especially since the items would auto-update the NPCs. They would be a candidate for an event page as well, though. Obviously I hadn't really seen this as an issue until it was brought up. - Rari Talk 13:04, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
I could create Raigol and Raizol as an NPC page, and just have Raigol and Raizol redirect there. Whatever makes it easier on everyone. But that assumes that all NPCs receiving such treatment are the same class/level/etc. - Rari Talk 13:08, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
Would there be a better name for it than event? Would that solve the issue? I'm not defending this, I'm just trying to find a way to make it as useful as possible. - Rari Talk 13:30, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Now that I am fully aware of whats going on, I honestly can't think of a better solution at this point. Keeping them separate, and having the event listing (Like in ToT) will have to do for now, but if I come up with anything I'll share it. -Tyrsell 14:07, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

I FULLY support returning Xadrak and Kadrax back to the way they were, and changing all like fights to that system. I just, really dislike have Xadrak listed (with a list of the loot) and Kadrax listed (with a list of the loot). It just makes for a cleaner looking thing, and eliminates the need for the "Event" tag, which is entirely misleading. If anything, "Event" could be renamed "Encounter" and left the way it is, although I can't I'm all too happy about that either. Also, since only one mob in these "Events" actually drops loot, and in some of them there is no mob loot but simply a chest, it could be misleading to people using the Wiki before they've done these fights. -Leerira 06:15, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Stub Source question

Hey could you please remove the huge ugly stubbing box from items with missing location info? The fact that they are missing location info is evident from the Source: Not Specified cell in the item box and this isn't a calamity to the scale that would require a notification that is actually bigger than the rest of the information on the page. Thanks!Slaariel 01:34, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

I realize the stub-source is a bit of an eye-sore, and I plan on making it more streamline soon. However, since the template and method its referring to is still new, I wanted to make sure it was very easy to see. - Rari Talk 01:37, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
