Walkthrough

Find a traveler (Southern Waste of Tarhyl  at 1295, 1230, -22  • Vah Rehn camp) .

You say, 'Hail, a traveler'
a traveler says, 'Hello, <Player Name>. Nevaldan sent you to me, yes?'
You say, 'Yes, he did. How can I rescue the last vah refugee?'
a traveler says, 'Two, <Player Name>. There are two refugees that need rescue--Vahir Rahkahl, and also Vahir Ghan. And it will not be easy. They are not simply lost: they are outright trapped. Vahir Ghan lies in Misery, while Vahir Rahkahl suffers in the Plane of Torment. Each will require separate measures to free, but both will require a Shir Blade. I know of two: one which can be found in the everchill caverns, with the yetis there. The other was held by a looter who met his end among the largest piranha in the kedge.'

Journal Text: The traveler told me to find two Shir Blades, one from the yetis in the everchill caverns and one from the largest piranha of the kedge. I have directions on how to restore the magic of the blades and free the trapped Vahir. The first step is to find the two swords and return them to the traveler.
You say, 'Nevaldan only told me of Rahkahl.'
a traveler says, 'Yes. Ghan is... something of a late arrival.'
You say, 'What do I do with the swords, once I find them?'
a traveler says, 'Bring them to me so that I can make certain they are what we seek. After that, you must feed them to a dragon called Parcelan the Devourer.' The traveler ignores your skeptical expression. 'When he has eaten them, kill him, then retrieve the blades from his belly. Do not worry if he drives you off--simply be patient and fight him another day. He won't be able to destroy the blades and so you may take your time retrieving them from him. Once you get them back, bring them to me.'

Gather and give to a traveler:

  • A Grimy Shir Blade
  • A Tarnished Shir Blade
The traveler inspects the blades carefully. 'Yes, these are the blades you seek.'

You receive A Weakened Shir Blade from a traveler.

You receive A Drained Shir Blade from a traveler.

Journal Text: I recovered the Shir Blades and brought them to the traveler for verification. The next step is to restore the magic of the swords. To do that, I must feed them to Parcelan the Devourer, then kill him to get them back.

Find Parcelan the Devourer (Dragon Necropolis  • Southwestern most Cave room) .

Give Parcelan the Devourer:

  • A Drained Shir Blade
  • A Weakened Shir Blade
Parcelan snatches the swords away from you and eats them with one smooth motion of his maw. The dragon pauses, unsure of the thing he's just eaten.
Note: Parcelan the Devourer goes invulnerable for a few seconds..
The magic in the blades twists in Parcelan's belly, driving him to murderous rage. Wave after wave of nauseating miasma kicks up from his stomach and sprays out onto the battlefield!
Note: At this point he regens to full HP, gains Rampage, Plaguewind, and Tigir's Insects.

Kill Parcelan the Devourer.

Parcelan the Devourer's soul has been culled.
Parcelan the Devourer 's body convulses spasmatically as the hunger in his eyes fades.

Loot A Drained Shir Blade and A Weakened Shir Blade from Parcelan the Devourer's corpse.

Return a traveler (Southern Waste of Tarhyl  at 1295, 1230, -22  • Vah Rehn camp) .

Give a traveler:

  • A Drained Shir Blade
  • A Weakened Shir Blade
The traveler runs her hands along the blades. 'There. I have sealed in the magic that Parcelan endowed the blades with.'

a traveler returned A Drained Shir Blade to you.

a traveler returned A Weakened Shir Blade to you.

Journal Text: I restored the magic of the blades by feeding them to Parcelan, then bringing them to the traveler. The next step is to free Ghan and Rahkahl by giving them a Shir Blade and a Mark of the Vah when I unlock their restraints with a key. For Ghan, a key of madness from the creatures in Misery. For Rahkahl, a key of pain from Sivyana's minions--or from Tarhyl's creatures in the Ruins, if I refuse to attack Sivyana. In addition, the flickering lights in misery must be gone if I am to free Ghan. The fleshrotters must be absent for Rahkahl to escape.

Complete Saving Vahir Rahkahl and Saving Vahir Ghan.

You say, 'Hail, a traveler'
a traveler says, 'You have done well, <Player Name>. The Vahir may not speak much, but they are grateful nonetheless--as am I, after a fashion.' The traveler hands you a rolled-up piece of cloth. 'The second Vahir wanted me to give you this.'

You receive Vahir Banner from a traveler.

You have completed a quest. [The Trapped Vahir]

Journal Text: I freed the trapped Vahir and received my reward from them by way of the traveler.
You say, 'Who are the Vahir, anyway?'
The traveler shakes her head. 'You'll have to hear that from them.'
