Ryzan Swiftblade taps his foot impatiently, 'Where is that stupid Talvan... he should have been back ages ago.'
You say, 'Who is Talvan?'
Ryzan Swiftblade says, 'Talvan is an old running mate of mine - we used to do various... uh, bad things, together. You know, the kind of things us rogues stick together through? Anyhow, Talvan heard about some crazed alchemist that was accumulating quite the treasure... heh, boy did that entice Talvan. He ran off trying to find the alchemist, but I doubt he got very far since that's been quite a while and he hasn't returned yet. Say, you wouldn't mind recovering my dagger would you?'
You say, 'Talvan had your dagger?'
Ryzan Swiftblade says, 'Yeah, Talvan took my dagger with him when he ran off. I want that thing back, it's pretty dear to me. If Talvan is dead, then there's no telling where it is... but I'd start around that alchemist he was after. It was a damn good weapon, so I suspect he made it pretty far.'
Gather and give Ryzan Swiftblade:

Ryzan Swiftblade says, 'Nooo! Ugh... it's broken?! Hmm, take it back, <Player Name>. I'm trusting you with this. There's a weaponsmith in South Newport... I hear he's pretty skilled. Hopefully he can fix it up for me.'

Jon Firepride says, 'Oh, what's this? Ah, I recall Ryzan from my earlier days... boy was that kid violent. One moment, let me fix this for you.' Jon Firepride reattaches the blade to the hilt and notices something engraved on the blade.'
Jon Firepride says, 'Hmm... look here, on the blade. These initials don't match Ryzan's at all, something isn't right. Take the blade to the registrar here and find out who this belongs to. I have a sinking suspicion that Ryzan was up to his old tricks when he obtained this dagger.'

Registrar Nelson glances at the initials on the blade, then looks over his history logs, 'Oh... poor soul. These initials belong to those of a man whom was murdered some time ago. The reported cause of death was a bandit attack, somewhere in the Badlands. I'm sorry that I can't be more help to you, <Player Name> - that's all the information I have on these initials.'

Journal Text: Registrar Nelson said that "Ryzan's Dagger" isn't Ryzan's at all, it belonged to a man who was murdered by bandits somewhere in the badlands some time ago. I should look for clues.

A tormented soul says, 'Yes... he did it... they did it... they murdered me. Ryzan did it... Talvan did it... they wanted my dagger. They were powerful.. bring five friends to kill Ryzan.. and bring me his heart...'

Return to Ryzan Swiftblade (East Freeport at -60, -850 • Docks) with friends.

Kill Ryzan Swiftblade and loot Ryzan's Heart.
Ryzan Swiftblade draws his last breaths. 'No.. This can't be.. Damn it... Talvan..'

A tortured soul says, 'He is dead.. his heart.. give it to me...'
Give A tormented soul:
A tormented soul devours the heart and hands you a book. 'You... brought me... his heart. In return... I give you... my journal.'

Journal Text: The dagger never really belonged to Ryzan.
