Suggested Level Range 55 - 65

Find a large empty crate (Northern Waste of Tarhyl  at 804, -837, 0  • at docks)

Note: This Quest can only be done by one person at a time. If the crate isn't there someone is playing the quest and you have to wait for them to finish it until the crate repops.
You say, 'Hail, a large empty crate'
This crate is big enough to hide in. I wonder what kind of ship will pick it up?
You say, '*Hide in the crate*'
You hide away in the crate.

You have entered Hates Fury, The Scorned Damsel.

Note: You have an illusion up ('Stow Away' - Illusion Cargo Chest) and are not able to move.
Cargo Master Verdesh turns a disapproving gaze at the deck hand, 'Yes?'
a deck hand says, 'Sir...'
Cargo Master Verdesh says, 'Sir? Hah! Don't sir me, boy. Name's Verdesh!'
a deck hand says, 'Okay, Verdesh...'
Cargo Master Verdesh says, 'What?'
a deck hand says, 'Um... sorry. It's just, this is the first time I ever left home. Joining the navy, I mean. They sent a few soldiers and a Claw to my village and brought my friends and I to a training camp. After a few days they sent us to different posts. Nulkil and Genki got 'Infantry.' I got 'Navy.'
Cargo Master Verdesh says, 'That's a real sad story, kid. Not interested...'
a deck hand says, 'I just... wanted to know if you could tell me about some things. I mean... that port we stopped at before we left...'
Cargo Master Verdesh says, 'Baldakan? Heh. Place is alright for a bunch of foreigner elfies I guess. You can trust them... to always watch out for themselves. They're always looking to get into whatever they can to turn something their way. You can't let them get the upper hand, but as long as you're on guard for the moment when they try to double-cross you, they can be great business associates.'
a deck hand says, 'If they're such great businessmen, why do they live in a bunch of ramshackle slums out on the water?'
Cargo Master Verdesh says, 'Kaezul's edict. No foreigners can settle permanently on Ikisith's soil. Even his good friends and allies them foreigner dark elves live off the shore. They've managed to make it pay out- they have become a key port in the shipping network of the empire. You'll be seeing a lot more of that place if you stay at sea.'
a deck hand says, 'And what about the places we go on these Navy ships? That strange place we just were... with all those creatures and queer furry things!'
Cargo Master Verdesh says, 'First of all kid, this ain't a navy ship. The Fury was a private rig until we were commandeered- at knifepoint- into Kaezul's service. Second of all, I don't know all that much about those lands myself. We've only made a couple trips since we were conscripted and they were all like this one: scout around a little, dump off the troops, and maybe pillage a town or loot a temple. Now, I've been smuggling and transporting goods all over Ikisith since I was barely more than a hatchling, and I've seen it all, in caravans through the jungles and across the Dreadlands, and on ships stopping and every port in all of Ikisith.'
a deck hand says, 'Golly! What have you seen?'
Cargo Master Verdesh smiles, 'Have you ever heard of the Lost City of Yclist?'
a deck hand says, 'That's just stuff to scare kids.'
Cargo Master Verdesh says, 'No, it's real. It's out there in the jungles. Aye, I've seen it with my own eyes. Impenetrable from the outside... Or so it would appear. I know this ancient gruplok slave witch, and she whipped me up a fancy charm all full of her old-timey magic. I slipped right in.'
a deck hand says, 'You actually made it into the Veiled City?
Cargo Master Verdesh says, 'You bet that stumpy tail of yours I did.'
a deck hand frowns and lowers his eyes.
Cargo Master Verdesh says, 'Maybe it'll grow, lad.'
Cargo Master Verdesh says, 'W...what was the inside of the city like?'
Cargo Master Verdesh says, 'Craziest thing... all these people standin' around in ancient-lookin getups, stuff like even my grandpappy wouldn't be wearin'. And not one of 'em movin'. Everything just stuck still. I poked around for a while, and grabbed some books, but none of the words made any sense, just jumbles of letters that nobody could pronounce. I threw 'em out.'
a deck hand says, 'Wow, you sound like you've seen some amazing things. Maybe it won't be so bad being in the Navy after all!'
Note: Quest text might be different above. Verdesh will tell one of at least three stories here.
Cargo Master Verdesh says, 'Let's go find a deck for you to swab, boy. Meet me up on deck. ON THE DOUBLE.'
Cargo Master Verdesh says, 'Idiot land huggers will beleive anything.' Verdesh glares over at all the boxes' I still need to get these accounted for. Maybe I'll get that halfwit cabin boy to tally 'em up for me.'
You hear a whistled tune faintly from stairway across the room from you, 'When I was but a young one - new from my egg and unfed. The nursery maid happened to stumble and dropped me hard on my head. Now I am the Cabin Boy! Happy to be the Cabin Boy! I may not be the smartest but I always get fed! I may not...!'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'That Verdesh... Why's he always yellin' for? I don't mind helpin' out around here. Count the boxes! Mark 'em down right here. Big boxes mark here, little ones here, and barrels there.'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'Two big 'uns... a barrel... another one... Hm. These rows aren't matching up at all! I'll have to tell Verdesh we need more barrels! Wait! What's this over here?'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'How'd you get all the way over here? One more mark for big box! You don't look quite like the rest of them. Where are you from, boy?' Shin nudges your box with his foot.'
The ship shifts hard to the left as it pulls away from the pier and begins its journey to Ikisith. You must make good your escape!
Note: You can undisguise yourself by clicking the 'Stow Away' spell at any time. Be aware that Kaezulian's are not huge fans of stow aways and that you need to get in position to jump ship when it nears Ikisith.

Timer Set: 0:10:00

Good option

You say, 'Hail, Cabin Boy Shin'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'W...what? Am I hearin' them voices again? Whossere?'
You say, 'Don't worry, I'm not here to yell at you, Shin.'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'Hey! Maybe we could be friends! I have some other friends on the ship too! Sometimes we play games, like Find the Copper in the Latrine, or Throw the Pickle.'
You say, 'That sounds great! And one other thing that friends do for each other, is help them hide from the captain until we make port!'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'Ooh, fun! I know of a great hiding spot, I go there when Esmilda gives me treats from the kitchen. But you don't want to go into the port. We're going to Baldakan..'
You say, 'What does that mean?'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'There are scary people from another land with smooth purple skin. They don't even have tails! Kaezul brought them to Ikisith. But they're really scary, you don't want to try and go there.'
You say, 'I'll have to swim ashore then... Can you take me to a place above deck where I can see the shore?'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'Yes sir! We'll play Hide and Follow the Leader! Follow me!'

Click off 'Stow Away' and follow Cabin Boy Shin on his path up the stairs.

Cabin Boy Shin scratches his head, 'Wait...'

Cabin Boy Shin will not continue till you hail him again.

You say, 'Hail, Cabin Boy Shin'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'Up ahead is the deck... boxes to hide in and water to jump in.'
You say, 'That sounds like a good hiding spot.'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'Mmmh this side, no good. They can see us from the port. One time I couldn't wait for the bathroom and I hid behind these boxes... they whipped me for a whole day... You need to meet me on the other side of the ship. I can make you safe there!'
Note: Do not follow Cabin Boy Shin on his path at deck. Roaming a deck hand will see you even invisible, yell alarm and kill you. Use Cargo Chests along the wall to hide in as soon as a roaming NPC is getting close. Just hail the Cargo Chests and follow the same quest dialogue you started the quest.

Cabin Boy Shin will wait in a small cave at the other side of the deck. You find 2 Cargo Chests there to hide in again.

You say, 'Hail, Cabin Boy Shin'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'The cannon room! Lots of soldiers in there. The Navy Ones. Very scary... I think they will see you...'
You say, 'We will have to think of a way to distract them.'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'They don't listen to me very much...'
You say, 'Well let's give them something they HAVE to listen to.'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'Here I go... ready?'

Stay in Cargo Chest and do not follow Cabin Boy Shin yet.

Cabin Boy Shin shouts, 'Fire! Fire in the powder room! The whole ship is going to explode!'

Four a cannon feeder will run out of the powder room on deck.

Cabin Boy Shin giggles hysterically, 'It worked!'
You say, 'Hail, Cabin Boy Shin'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'Stay close... not sure whos off duty...'

Drop 'Stow Away' and follow Cabin Boy Shin. There are a few Cargo Chests to hide in powder room (under the stairs, at opposite side, up the stairs). Cabin Boy Shin will wait for you up the first stairs beside two Cargo Chests. At the latest here you need to hide again.

Cabin Boy Shin shouts, 'Ahoy Davos!'
a Kaezulian researcher shouts, 'Ahoy? What did we tell you about that pirate crap? You are not a pirate, moron!

a Kaezulian researcher leaves the area.

You say, 'Hail, Cabin Boy Shin'
Cabin Boy Shin lip quivers.
You say, 'Are you ok? The sailors seem very cruel to you.'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'Th...they take care of me. I'm a good-for nothing halfwit, without them I'd probably starve.'
You say, 'No you aren't Shin. After all you're helping me aren't you? Now let's hurry up!'

Drop 'Stow Away' and follow Cabin Boy Shin. There are a few Cargo Chests to hide on the second deck.

Cabin Boy Shin says, 'These boxes are a good place to hide. Nobody moves them or looks inside. I like to hide things here. They ring big loud bells when we are close to port. You can swim from there.'

Hide again.

The ship is fast approaching Baldakan! You must get off the ship before it enters the break wall!

The timer given at this point depends on the time spent hiding from roaming NPCs while following Cabin Boy Shin.

You say, 'Hail, Cabin Boy Shin'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'We are here!'
You say, 'Aren't you going to get in trouble for helping me? For shouting about the fire?'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'They'll just hit me for a while. That's what they do.'
You say, 'Want to swim to shore with me?'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'Can I? Can I really?'
You say, 'That is what friends do for each other, Shin. Come on.'
You wait until you see land and jump overboard with Shin. Unfortunately you lose him in the choppy waters.

You have entered Prophet's Landing.

Evil option

Timer Set: 0:10:00
You say, 'Hail, Cabin Boy Shin'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'W...what? Am I hearin' them voices again? Whossere?'
You say, 'Your death, If you tell anybody I'm down here.'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'Oh! Please don't hurt me! I get into enough fights as it is. My momma always told me I just had one of those faces that made you feel like punchin'. She was a smart lady to know a thing like that. I got hit all the time at home.'
You say, 'I don't know if I'll be able to resist either, if you keep talking. I need you to show me somewhere I can hide until we make port.'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'You don't want to get caught in the port. Those strange purple people are very bad. Very scary. You should swim to shore.'
You say, 'Then you need to get me up to the deck so I can hide until I can see land.'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'Alright, this way... I promise I promise it's safe!'

Cabin Boy Shin says, 'There's too many slaves in there. They'll see us.'
You say, 'You'll need to distract them then.'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'How?'
You say, 'Think of something.'

Cabin Boy Shin will stay in place until you hail him again.

You say, 'Hail, Cabin Boy Shin'
Cabin Boy Shin says, 'I can't think of anything distracting enough.'
Note: Using the option "Ugh, you are so useless! *Slap him*" at this point will result in him shouting for help and your demise at his hands as well as a few Kaezulian guards.
