Glademaster Training - Part IV

A fellow Ranger of the Glade has been taken by the gnolls of Blackburrow, and I have been tasked with rescuing her. I need to track her within the burrow and bring her back to the Glade.

Report to Trainer Brandi (Surefall Glade  at 93, 64  • at the archery range) .

You say, 'What bad news?'
Trainer Brandi says, 'One of our own has been taken by the Blackmaw. She was scouting near the mouth to their burrow when a dozen gnolls rushed out and overwhelmed her. We found the footprints and signs of a struggle, and it looks like they drug something back with them into the burrow. Vera is one of our youngest and most promising Glademasters, <Player Name>. I can not take my rangers away from keeping watch on the corruption in the badlands, lest it rises up suddenly. Go to the Blackburrow and track Vera. We can not stand to lose another of our order in such dire times.'

Enter Blackburrow' and approach the area near (-81, -50, 2).

You see signs of a struggle, as well as torn clothing that looks like it belonged to someone from the Glade. Someone was dragged towards the tunnel going underground.

Find Half elven remains (Blackburrow  at 163, -377, -122  • Far northeast alcove.) , on the lower level, before you go underwater and up the ladder, there are a small spawn of gnolls on the right, go past them up the ramp. There is a small room with 3 gnolls. The remains are found there.

As you approach the bones, you notice scraps of the uniform of a Glademaster. You can see teeth marks marring the bones, with some even cracked and sucked of marrow. You gather up the remains, at least what is left, and put them in your bag.

You receive Vera's Remains.


Return to Trainer Brandi.

You say, 'Hail, Trainer Brandi'
Trainer Brandi says, 'You have returned. Where is Vera? Did you find her?' Brandi's face contorts in despair as she reads your body language. 'So it is like that, then?'
You say, 'Why would you wait for me to return to send someone after her? Why did you not go? All that was left by the time I got there were her bones picked clean.'
Trainer Brandi says, 'I could not leave my duties, and there was no one else who could either. You have learned something important here, scout. She knew the risks when she joined the Glademasters, and now you know them as well. We will need to have a ceremony. I think you should be the one to entomb her, since you risked your life to retrieve her remains. Tell me when you are ready, and I will summon the Glade. Make sure that you have her remains ready.'
You say, 'I am ready.'
Trainer Brandi shouts, 'Protectors of the Glade! One of our own has fallen while battling the forces of corruption who would blight our fair forest. It is time for Vera Lornbrin to be given back to Dalaya itself. Meet at her favorite tree, Old Sander.'
Trainer Brandi says, 'Follow me, <Player Name>.'
Trainer Brandi says, 'Vera gave her life for the Glade. It is only fitting that after her death, the nutrients in her body are returned to Dalaya. Vera came to us at fourteen, demanding to be a Glademaster. Although we were all skeptical, she proved herself soon enough, rising to become a full Glademaster in less than a year. She was the beginning of a new generation of the Protectors of the Glade, and that only makes her death that much greater of a loss.'
Trainer Brandi says, '<Player Name> bravely went to rescue her in Blackburrow when no one else was able. Although they never met, <Player Name> is of the generation she heralded, and has been given the honor of burying her remains. Please put the remains into the burial plot, <Player Name>.'


Give Vera's Remains to a burial plot.

You take the remains of Vera Lornbrin and bury them gently in front of the tree.
Trainer Brandi says, 'Thank you, <Player Name>. Vera did not want a long ceremony, and we all know that the best way to honour her memory is to continue preserving the nature and beauty of this world.' Brandi begins to cry. 'Goodbye, Vera. May you rest in peace.
Trainer Brandi says, '<Player Name>, follow me back, please.'
You say, 'Hail, Trainer Brandi'
Trainer Brandi says, 'We have some small business to finish, <Player Name>. Hand me your scout's bow.'

Give Trainer Brandi your Glade Scout Longbow.

Trainer Brandi says, 'This bow belonged to Vera. We found it outside of Blackburrow when we scouted the area. You have more than proven yourself, <Player Name>, and I would like to welcome you to our order as a full Glademaster. Where you go from here is up to you, but you will always be welcome in the Glade.'

You receive Gladewood Longbow.
