Fearstone Spies

From SoDWiki
Jump to navigationJump to search

Commander Berengot in Kelethin has asked me to make contact with a spy in Fearstone that is disguised as an orc slave. To make contact, I first need to ask her if the ore is coming out blue. After that, I must say, 'The tree stirs in the Faydark'. After I get the report, I need to bring it back to Berengot.

Find Commander Berengot (Greater Faydark  at -702, 223, 77  • Kelethin, warriors' guildhall) .

You say, 'Hail, Commander Berengot'
Commander Berengot says, 'Hello, <Player Name>. I am Berengot, Commander of the Kelethin Protectors and the current defense from the Frilakh. Have you come to join the fight?'
You say, 'I have come to join the fight.'
Commander Berengot says, 'That is good to hear! We can always use a few extra <Player Class>. I actually was about to send someone to Fearstone to check in on one of our spies. Interested?'
You say, 'I am definitely interested.'
Commander Berengot says, 'Good! Kelethin's best spy is a Athicinian Enchanter that goes by the name 'Red Helen'. She is currently disguised as one of the orc captives working in the Fearstone mines. She is a professional, and will only respond if you say the correct passphrase. Talk to her, get her report, and come back to me. We have been noticing increased Frilakh activity near the lifts, and I need to know if it means something important.'
You say, 'I can collect the report. What is the passphrase?'
Commander Berengot says, 'There are two. First, ask her if the ore is coming out blue. She will respond like any other orc, but then say, 'The tree stirs in the Faydark.' That should let you establish communication. Bring me back her report. Good luck, <Player Name>.'

Find a bloodclaw captive (Fearstone Keep  at 110, 401, -13  • The mines.) .

You say, 'Is the ore coming out blue?'
The bloodclaw captive looks confused, he quietly barks out to you in a rough voice 'Where master?'
You say, 'The tree stirs in the Faydark.'
The features of the orc suddenly relax and look less savage. He whispers to you in a surprisingly soft feminine voice, 'We cannot talk here. Meet me behind the Iron Ore shop outside of here in two minutes. Do not be late and come alone.

Find Red Helen (Fearstone Keep  • Behind the bladeforger's building) .

Note: Go alone. If any other player is accompanying you, the following will occur and she will disappear: Red's head suddenly snaps from one side to the other, 'Someone is coming! I told you to come alone! I cannot blow my cover.' Red disappears in a puff of white smoke.
You say, 'Hail, Red Helen'
Red Helen says, 'Hello, <Player Name>. You must be a new scout. Sorry for the run around, but I need to be sure before losing my disguise. You can call me Red. Why did you make contact?'
You say, 'Commander Berengot is asking for a report. Scouts are seeing a large increase in Frilakh activity near the Kelethin lifts.'
Red Helen says, 'Of course. It does not surprise me. Talk of driving the Wood Elves out has been increasing amongst the Frilakh. Worse, more and more Frilakh are becoming Fright Speakers and Shadow Seekers. Take this report back to the Commander. Did the commander say anything else?'

You receive Report for Berengot.

You say, 'No, but I might be back after he reads the report.'Red Helen says, 'Okay then. I am going to go back undercover and try to find out more in the interim. Good luck, <Player Name>.

Return to Commander Berengot and hand in the report.

You gain MISSING TEXT experience!

Berengot takes the report from <Player Name> and begins to read, 'This. This is not good. She says that more and more of the Frilakh are being magically imbued somehow. She thinks it has something to do with an artifact held by a Frilakh they call The Blackscale. We need to find out more. Return to Red and tell her that I clear you to be 'operative zeta.' She will explain further.

Return to the Fearstone mines.

You say, 'Hail, a bloodclaw captive'
The orc grunts, looking at you dumbly..
You say, 'I need a meeting.'
The orc nods once before whispering to you in a feminine voice, 'Same place as last time, <Player Name>. Do not talk here.

Go to Red Helen.

You say, 'Hail, Red Helen'
Red Helen says, 'What did the Commander say?'
You say, 'He was not happy, but not surprised. He told me to tell you that I have been cleared for 'Operation Zeta', whatever that means.'
Red Helen says, 'Operation Zeta? You are absolutely sure that is what he told you? You are cleared, or I am cleared?'
You say, 'I am sure. He said that *I* was cleared for Operation Zeta.'
Red Helen says, 'Well.' Red Helen looks at you in confusion, 'I wonder why he would want you to do it instead of me... Well, orders are orders. What did you need me for, then?'
You say, 'Wait! What is Operation Zeta?!'
Red Helen says, 'He told you that you were cleared but not what to do?' She sighs, 'Operation Zeta is the code word for taking my infiltration from being disguised as an orc, to being disguised as an actual Frilakh. Which, let me tell you, is a much harder disguise to pull off. You need to disguise as a Frilakh and figure out what sort of ceremonies the Frilakh are conducting to make themselves so powerful.'
You say, 'How do I do that?'
Red Helen says, 'You do not know how to work illusions like that?' Helen sighs again, 'I guess that means we are going to have to work together. I have been watching the Frilakh closely for months now, trying to see how they pick who gets to go through the ceremonies next. I have discovered that a specific Frilakh, a Scale Guard by the name of Frusp, has been picked to be the next Fear Speaker. You need to find Frusp, and make him 'disappear' where no other Frilakh can see. Water is always good to kill something in secret. After that, come back to me. I need to go before I am missed. Good luck, <Player Name>.'

Search for Scale Guard Frusp (Fearstone Keep  • Teleports around the entire zone and sits at random locations.)

Scale Guard Frusp says, 'You got me!'

Kill Scale Guard Frusp while underwater.

You have killed Frusp without alerting any other Frilakh.

Go to Red Helen.

You say, 'Hail, Red Helen'
Red Helen says, 'Did you kill Frusp? Were you seen?'
You say, 'He is dead, and I was not seen. What do we do next?
Red Helen says, 'Next, since you are the one doing the operation, I make you look exactly like Frusp, and you go talk to the ceremonial priests about your upcoming transformation to a Fright Speaker. This illusion will be powerful, and will let you understand and speak in their tongue. It should also protect you from their rituals to turn you into a Fright Speaker. Still, you must be careful. Shadow Seekers may be able to see through it if you get close enough to them. There are two Frilakh sacrificial priests, one outside of these caves and the other right inside the castle. You need to speak to them both and complete their tasks. are you ready?'
You say, 'I am ready. Turn me.'
Red Helen says, 'Remember that this is temporary. If you leave Fearstone it will wear off, and you will need to come back to me for another dose. Good luck, <Player Name>.'

Go speak with a frilakh sacrificial priest (Fearstone Keep  •) in the hut with the burning fire, near the Iron Orc on the west side of zone.

You say, 'Hail, a frilak sacrificial priest'
a frilakh sacrificial priest says, 'Good, Frusssp, you are here. It isss an honor to be chosen for elevation to Fright Ssspeaker. Are you ready to begin the tasksss?'
You say, 'It issss an honor. I am ready.'
a frilakh sacrificial priest says, 'Good. First, you must taste blood and charred flesh. You must feel what it is like to cause death, and take that death inside of you. Go get an orcish slave, and bring him here.'

Find a bloodclaw captive (Fearstone Keep  at 110, 401, -13  • The mines.)

You say, 'Hail, a bloodclaw captive'
a bloodclaw captive says, 'Y..yes, mastar?' There is obvious fear in the Bloodclaw's eyes.'
You say, 'You have been chosen, follow me.'
a bloodclaw captive says, 'Y..yes. I folluw.' The fear in the Bloodclaw's eyes has turned to terror, but he complies.'
As the orc realizes you are taking him to the fires, his eyes widen and sweat begins to streak down his face.
a frilakh sacrificial priest says, 'Throw him into the fire, Frussp.'
You say, 'Hail, a bloodclaw captive'
*Throw him into the fire.*
You grab the Orc suddenly, and throw him into the fire. Immediately, the priest begins to chant and flail his hands around you. You feel a malevolent and powerful presence settle over you. Something profound has happened... You hear the Bloodclaw's thrashing screams, but they seem far away... like a sweet music. Finally, the screams of the orc begin to soften. As his body stops thrashing, you can smell the sweet greasy stench of his cooking flesh.
a frilakh sacrificial priest says, 'Gooood. The priest speaks softly, as if he is in blissful rapture, 'That was very good Frusp. You must feel it on you, yes? Blood magic, deep in your soul itself. You have passed my task, Frussp. Go to the castle, and talk to my counterpart.'
You say, 'Yesss, I feel the powers. I will licksss the orcss blood off my lipsss.
a frilakh sacrificial priest says, 'Yessss! Yesss, that is good, Frussp. Now you must go and sseeek out my brother in the castle.'

Go speak with a frilakh sacrificial priest (Fearstone Keep  •) just inside the castle front door.

You say, 'Hail, a frilak sacrificial priest'
a frilakh sacrificial priest says, 'I could hearsss the screams of the orc from here, Frusssp. You are ready for the transssformation. This... this fountain contains the blood of all our sssacrificesss. The power given to usss by Kaessssul is held withinsss. Bathe in the fountain, Frusssp. And feel the powerssss within.'

Jump into the fountain and swim down.

You say, 'Hail, a malevolent presence'
An otherworldly voice emanates from the bones, 'You seek the power of Fright Speak, mortal Frilakh? The Lord of All has permitted me to give you such power. I feel blood of the innocent in your soul. You have been infected, corrupted, tainted... you are one of us now. Take my body, and you shall be reborn in the morning. Deny my gift, and you shall die.'
Note: You have learned enough about the rituals to try and escape back to Red now, or you can continue through the ritual itself.
You say, 'I accept your gift' (Lean in and bite off a piece of bone.)
You lean in and take a bite of bone. As you open your mouth, a viscous blood rushes in and forces its way down your throat and into your lungs. As the bone comes off in your mouth, you feel a sense of euphoria. A small moan escapes your lips, and even from that quiet sound, you realize that a new power has been added to your voice. The spirit talks into your mind, 'Good, Frusp. You have taken myself into you. Go now, and speak to the priest.'
You say, 'You are disgusting, presence. I deny your gift, and will see to your destruction!'

You say, 'Hail, a frilak sacrificial priest'
a frilakh sacrificial priest says, 'I senssse the change in you Frusssp. Go and ressst, now. You will begin training in the mornings.'
Note: After a few moments, the resistance spell Red Helen placed on you will act to block Kaezul's influence. Everything inside the castle will aggro onto you simultaneously. It's best to make a run straight for the zone in and hope for the best.
You are buffeted by horrible rage. The spirit crashes into your mind as if throwing itself through a glass window, 'No one denis the gift of Kaezul! You will suffer for this, mortal.'

Return to the Fearstone mines.

You say, 'Hail, a bloodclaw captive'
The orc grunts, looking at you dumbly..
You say, 'I have information. I need a meeting.'
The orc nods once before whispering to you in a feminine voice, 'Same place as last time, <Player Name>. Do not talk here.'

Go to Red Helen.

You say, 'Hail, Red Helen'
Red Helen says, 'What did you learn, <Player Name>?'
You say, 'The Frilakh were given some sort of power source from Kaezul. First, they had me sacrifice a slave into the fire. The moment the poor thing began to suffer, I could feel his energy flowing into me. I went to the Castle after that. In the blood fountain there is... something. A presence of some sort. It felt magical, and it felt Kaezulian.'
Red Helen says, 'That is disturbing news, <Player Name>. A gnomish researcher back in Kelethin was saying something similar, but this is the first actual proof we have. Go back to the commander, and tell him what you saw. I think it might be time for us to strike before they have time to convert all of themselves into magical monsters... Fare thee well, <Player Name>. If the commander has more need of me, let me know.'

Return to Commander Berengot (Greater Faydark  at -702, 223, 77  • Kelethin, warriors' guildhall) .

You say, 'Hail, Commander Berengot'
Commander Berengot says, 'Hail, <Player Name>. Have you learned anything?'
You say, 'I have. The Frilakh were given some sort of power source from Kaezul. First, they had me sacrifice a slave into the fire. The moment the poor thing began to suffer, I could feel his energy flowing into me. I went to the Castle after that. In the blood fountain there is... something. A presence of some sort. It felt magical, and it felt Kaezulian.'
Commander Berengot says, 'That is... an abomination. They are turning their people slowly into monsters. We need to act before they are powerful enough to overwhelm us. We only just reclaimed our homeland... we cannot let Kaezul and his minions drive us out again through proxy. I will speak with the elders, <Player Name>. You have done well. Take this tunic and wear it with pride. You have done a great service to Kelethin today.'
