Find Caretaker Darima (Dreadlands  at 1212, 8887, 1065  • Refuge) .

You say, 'Hail, Caretaker Darima'

Caretaker Darima frowns at you. 'Your the one who got all the basilisk and cockatrice meat? I don't believe it.'

You say, 'What is with you people putting me down all the time! What have I done to you guys!'

Caretaker Darima continues to frown. 'Well you really aren't much to look at to be fair. How strong are you?'

You say, 'You don't talk to Brother Kromtash much do you...'

Caretaker Darima shakes her head. 'He only mentioned making contact with you. Oh and he delivered the the meat to me in person this time.'

You say, 'Listen, do you need help or not? If so I can do it.'

Caretaker Darima sighs. 'Yes I do. We have no other hunters to send out at the moment, and that meat we received before is running low.'

You say, 'And who are you exactly?'

Caretaker Darima suddenly remembers her manners and bows. 'Oh, my name is Caretaker Darima, and I am in charge of keeping everyone here fed... it is not an easy job when all of our hunters are sick.'

You say, 'All of your hunters are down for the count?'

Caretaker Darima says, 'Sort of. While most of the hunters resisted the sickness, they were reassigned to cover the duties of other, less healthy individuals. This has our food stores very low at the moment.'

You say, 'Why not just grow more food?'

Caretaker Darima sighs. 'So little will grow out here! And what does grow is rarely of any nutritional value. The only upside to this infernal valley is the abundance of water. We're thankful for that at least.'

You say, 'I saw a magician or two amongst you, why not just summon all the food you need?'

Caretaker Darima looks shocked for a moment. 'Do you have ANY idea about the health risks of a purely summoned diet? I mean, lets ignore how bland the food tends to be... bread alone does not a diet make! But what are you eating exactly? The magician is essentially solidifying mana for you to consume! You know what else is made mostly of mana? Elemental spirits! Do you know why you don't hunt Elemental spirits to eat? Because there is NO nutritional value in eating them! No meat! No Bones! No Fat! Just mana! Also you ever notice how if you keep summoned food around long enough, it still fades away? Ever wonder why? Because the mana just dissipates. You are eating that stuff! What do you think happens when it decides to dissipate in your stomach? You think that's healthy? Do you know how long it takes for you to process food? That stuff you ate never passes through at all! Its all gone! In fact I have theories that the violent behavior most adventurers exhibit can be linked back DIRECTLY to their over dependence on Magicians and their summoned food and drink! How can you be reasonable and level headed if all you are eating is NOTHING! Why would you do that to yourself! Why! WHY!'

You say, 'Whoa... I could just hunt some animals out there for you instead then...'

Caretaker Darima smiles. 'I was hoping you'd say that. I can't have you constantly going back out there just to help me, so I'm going to make your time count for as much as possible. Ice Devourer Meat!'

You say, 'You want me to collect Ice Devourer Meat?'

Caretaker Darima nods. 'Exactly. Ice Devourers are full of every nutrient we could ever need! And it lasts forever without rotting. Sure it may smell a bit, but it tastes... adequate... and is good for you. They are a BIT big, but that's why we want them! Just a few of them will feed us for weeks. And if you are really a friend to us, you'll find a way to take them down. Bring back five'

Journal Text: Ice Devourer meat huh? Couldn't be like a tiger or nazdrich... Ah well, I need to get 5 slabs of this stuff back to Caretaker Darima.
