The Chef's Basic Handbook

Welcome to the world of Cooking - a world of sensational smells, tastes and sensations! Impress your lady friends with your ability to properly sauteed meat! Win new friends by showing them how to properly spice their bread! All these things will be within your ability when you reach the illustrious title of Master Chef.

There are thousands upon thousands of things to eat on this world of ours, yet most of the population gets by on two or three different dishes. This is a sad state of events, and one which I hope my series of Cookbooks may hope to change. Aside from this handbook, I have published "Butter and Bread - A recipe book for bakers" and "Grill and Fry - A collection of hot dishes". But enough about me, let's get to the basics...

To start with, you should learn to make Dough, which is used in almost every kind of baking endeavor. Purchase a bag of flour, work it with some water in a mixing bowl until it is nice and firm, and split it into five smaller pieces, and you have five doughs ready to be turned into bread.

By adding yeast and salt to a dough and baking it in an oven, you can turn it into bread cakes, hard, basic bread that most bakers pick as their first recipe to master.

If you should wish to bake a darker bread instead, adding barley to the dough in place of salt will make for a more durable, albeit less tasty meal.(Does not combine as of 3/17/2015)

Occasionally when cooking, you will need to utilize its sister craft, Brewing. To make a tasty omelet, you will need a brewed Egg Mush, as well as Salt and Butter, all cooked in an oven.

If an omelet isn't to your tastes, how about some fried snake eggs? Find two snake eggs and some spices, fry in oven. Done in minutes!

While traveling Dalaya, you will find many kinds of meats to be harvested from the wildlife. All edible meat can be turned into a passable meal by simply frying it in an oven along with some salt. While simple and not particularly rich in taste, fried meat of various kinds often form the base components of more advanced dishes.

There are usually ways to improve upon a basic recipe. While Bread Cakes may not be the tastiest things in existence, but if you add butter and cheese to them using your mixing bowl, you have some nice Cheese Bread Cakes.

An old favorite among certain races is Fried Rat. It will not make you popular in the higher social circles of Newport, but it's nutrient and doesn't take up much space in your bag. Fry two pieces of rat meat with some spices to... bring out the taste. Ahem.

Finally, a simple recipe that has kept many a hungry mouth fed is to fry rice - take four bags of rice and cook them with water and salt in your Oven, then put them in a simple Clay Bowl bought from a friendly Potter.

If you ever find yourself taking up fishing for a hobby, you will find that it is a wonderful compliment to cooking, and there are many tasty dishes to be made out of the bounties of the sea. One such dish can be made from any kind of Perch. After you gut the fish, fry it along with Fennel and Lemon and you will have a simple, tasty meal.

If you've managed to cook all these recipes, then you've got what it takes to be a decent chef. Whether you've got what it takes to be a a great chef we will have to see after you try out the recipes in my advanced books. Until then!
