Note: This is a sidequest of The Vah. It is received by talking to the Vah you rescued as a Hidden Presence from First Ruins.
You say, 'Hail, Sorysia Laythen'
Sorysia Laythen says, 'Hail, <Player Name>.' She lifts her ration in toast. 'Isn't this place amazing?'
You say, 'Were you in the caves in the lands of magic, then?'
Sorysia nods. 'Hunter there, as it happens. I brought us whatever I could kill, which usually amounted to whatever I could catch. Not easy work, but fun.'
You say, '*Really*? All the stories I've heard about those caves paint a much different picture.'
Sorysia Laythen says, 'Oh? What stories have you heard, then?' She swallows her mouthful and chuffs. 'I'd love to hear them.'
You say, '-Recount Ryhajin's description of the caves.-'
Sorysia listens, but her fur bristles slightly as you speak. '...aye, <Player Name>, most of that is true.'
You say, 'Then why are you so upbeat? I don't mean to offend, but I'm having a hard time understanding.'
The vah shrugs. 'Why compare my life to others'? For a vah in the caves, I led a good life. For a vah in the city, I was miserable, cold, lonely, fearful, and wretched. Given the choice, why shouldn't I choose the former? I played the hand I was dealt the best I knew how. I was *good* at life in the caves.'
You say, 'I suppose that makes sense.'
Sorysia Laythen says, 'Indeed.' She claps you on the shoulder. After a pause, she speaks again, though quieter. '...Don't get me wrong, though. The caves were a terrible place to live. I know that, I'm just not dwelling on it.'
You say, 'Hail, Sorysia Laythen'
Sorysia Laythen says, 'Hail, <Player Name>. Isn't this place amazing?'
You say, 'If you were a hunter and you used that bow, where did you get arrows for it?' Sorysia Laythen says, 'I made them, <Player Name>. Good at *that*, too.' She chuffs. 'Lots of constellations in this sky, eh?'
You say, 'But you were in *caves*. How did you make arrows in there?'
Sorysia Laythen says, 'It wasn't easy. I can show you if you like, but it'll take a lot of work. Anyone can *do* it, but you've got to use arrows often before it's worth doing. Still up for it?'
You say, 'Sure. What's involved?'
Sorysia Laythen says, 'Not fletchery, that's for sure.' She snorts. 'Nothing down there to fletch. No, you've got to make something to summon arrows whole-cloth. That's much easier.'
You say, 'Makes sense. What will I need to get?'
Sorysia Laythen says, 'A few things. The arrowheads are easy, but we might as well get some good ones. I've heard nice things about Everchill Caverns--specifically, the flint rocks that sometimes wind up in the gizzards of the terrors there. Next is the fletching. Imp wing makes for some nice almost-feathers. Those deepfiends in the ruins you found me at have some nice imp wings on 'em. The rest would normally be a long and involved process, but with all the machinery laying about in the Rust, you ought to be able to find a shortcut. I'd 'check with the scavengers', if you get my drift. Once you've gotten me that, I can put it together for you. It's no trouble--I still owe you for getting me out of the ruins.'

Gather and give Sorysia Laythen:

  • Pristine Impwing
  • Chilly Flint Rocks
  • Scavenged Assembly Array
Sorysia takes the components. 'Hrnn, yes... this is close enough to what I had in mind for a shortcut. This machine summons thin metal rods. It should be pretty easy to alter it to make arrows. I'm going to be busy working on this for a while--you'll have to talk to me later.'

Wait some time and return to Sorysia Laythen.

You say, 'Hail, Sorysia Laythen'
Sorysia Laythen says, 'Ah, hello, <Player Name>! I've got your whatsit done.' Sorysia hands you what appears to be a quiver. 'That device from the Rust was pretty cooperative once I gave a few good whacks. That quiver will automatically create arrows for you for a good, long while.'

You receive Arrowmaking Rig from Sorysia Laythen.

You gain 85000 experience!!
