Find A Cranky Gnome (Sadri Malath  • by the campfire in the bank area) .

You say, 'Hail, A Cranky Gnome.'
Why are you speaking to me? Can't you see I'm busy working on a problem?
You say, 'What seems to be the problem?'
A Cranky Gnome says, 'The problem? Really? Do you see any other gnomes in this thrice blasted frog city you dolt? I was sent here from Underhill on some weak excuse because my supervisor didn't like me. It's not my fault she was too stupid to know a cog from her backside.'
You say, 'I think I can understand why she kicked you out.'
A Cranky Gnome says, 'Maybe if I ignore this fool, it will go away.'
You say, 'That seems a bit harsh. Is there anything I can do to help?'
A Cranky Gnome says, 'Do you know how many knifflepins it takes to flargle the straw roof of one of these huts?'
You say, 'Uhhh... well... no.'
A Cranky Gnome says, 'Exactly. Neither do I. And until I find out, I can't go home. The day some moron like you can figure out a problem before me is the day monkeys will fly. You should go bother Stella, she'd be more on your level. She's usually hanging around outside the tavern. Now, begone, fool!'

Find Stella (Sadri Malath  at 221, 206, 2  • outside the bar near the Paladin Guild) .

You say, 'Hail, Stella'
Stella says, 'Hey stranger, run in that tavern over there and buy a girl a wee sip? I got me a taste for something that'll make my feet stamp.'

Gather and give Xaedan's Foot-Stamper to Stella.

Note: You will need a total of two Xaedan's Foot-Stamper to converse with Stella. Buying 2 now can save you time later
Stella slurps the whole drink down in one gulp.
Stella says, 'So whatcha doing in our little backwater?'
You say, 'I met...well, I guess I didn't get his name, some gnome fellow.'
Stella begins to laugh so hard she falls over.
You say, 'Let me help you up!'
Stella says, 'Thankee kindly stranger. That ole bigheaded gnome thinks he's soooooo smart. Did he give you the monkeys will fly speech?'
You say, 'Why, as a matter of fact, he did!'
Stella says, 'Hahaha! Wanna hear something funny?'
You say, 'I suppose so.'
Stella says, 'Monkeys CAN fly, and Mr. Betterthanyou has no idea. I reckon if he ever found out that fat head of his would near 'bout fall clean off.'
You say, 'Oh come on, you're just teasing me.'
Stella says, 'No, really! I'm telling it true, I swear. There's a family of 'em hangs around south of town. The reason I couldn't get my own drink goes back a ways to before the gnome was here and it's on account of them flying monkeys. *cough* oooh my poor dry throat.'

Give Stella another Xaedan's Foot-Stamper.

Stella sips more slowly this time, smacking her lips a bit before continuing her tale.
Stella says, 'Too kind, too kind! I was wandering around out there one day eating pretzels when a monkey flew up to me looking interested. I held one out and he took it right offa my hand. Well I just kept handing him a wee bite here and there, and for a laugh i lured one of them little stinkers right into the bar itself. Too bad he made a right big mess and I got throwed out of the tavern for my joke.'
You say, 'Interesting, I think I'd like to go look for those monkeys.'

Gather two Bag of Pretzel. They can be purchased in the nearby bar.

Go to Sundered Mountains and go due South(straight out from cave mouth) to loc -4570, 2960 or even along zone wall further East.

A Flying Monkey looks at you hungrily!

Give the monkey 1 Bag of Pretzels.

A flying monkey looks REALLY hungry now!
Note: If you don't give the monkey another bag within about 1 minute, it will attack you.

Give the monkey a 2nd Bag of Pretzels.

a flying monkey accepts the food and begins following you.

Return to Sadri Malath.

The monkey is still following you!

Return to A Cranky Gnome (Sadri Malath  • by the campfire in the bank area)

At the sound of your approaching footsteps the gnome looks up in annoyance. With a piercing squeal of alarm he drops the item he was working on and snatches off his spectacles, peering down at them as if they have somehow betrayed him. After a thorough cleaning he places them back on his face and looks closely at what has followed you.
Drawn to the loud noise a few townsfolk begin to wander up. Stella among them. As the small crowd gathers, the monkey flies away.
A Cranky Gnome says, '<Player Name>, I feel I owe you an apology. My name is Glinpith Bargafickle. I have been here so long with no progress on my task that I have nearly given up on the idea of going home. I see now that you and the Taldorian were correct. I am ashamed at how I have let bitterness cloud my judgment. If I was this wrong about a flying monkey, who knows how many other times my hubris has caused me to err?'
Facing Stella, Glinpith bows slightly.
A cranky Gnome says, 'Lady, I know I do not deserve your forgiveness, but I hope that you will at least accept my apologies fir my lack of manners these many weeks.'
Stella giggles.
Stella says, 'Oh ho!, Lady is it now? Its okay Glipnith, ev'body messes up from time ta time. Tell ya what, now that yer less ornery, hows about I tell you about them straw roofs?
A Cranky Gnome says, 'Well it's Glinpith actually, but please do tell!
Stella says, 'You don't use knifflepings when you flargle a roof, you use four johackles, one fer each corner. Knifflepins ain't good for nuthin' but keepin' hair outta your face.'
Glinpith's face appears to be undergoing some strange contortions. You realize he is actually beginning to smile.
A Cranky Gnome says, 'Ph what a fool I have been! I cannot thank you enough Stella. Now that I can take this information and go home, I have no need to be frugal. Here, this gold will pay off the damages caused by the monkey's last visit. I'm sure the tavern keep will let you back in.'
Glinpith's eyes settle on you.
A Cranky Gnome says, '<Player Name>, if you had not brought the creature here I would still be without hope. I head for home immediately. If you would meet me in Underhill near the waterfall I would like to reward you for your help.'

Find Glinpith (Underhill  at 585, 60  • west of the waterfall near Steamfont Mountains zone) . He is west of the waterfall near Steamfont Mountains zone.

You say, 'Hail, Glinpith'
Glinpith says, 'Ah, there you are! How do you like beautiful Underhill? Just look how light sparkles from the falling water!'
You pretend not to notice as Glinpith wipes away a tear.
You say, 'It is very nice, I am glad you made it home. Did you get your job back?'
Glinpith says, 'Well if you can believe it, my supervisor didn't care one jot about knifflepins OR johackles. She actually wanted me to learn a little humility. When I related the tale of you, the monkey, and Stella she clapped me on the shoulder and said I had done well and could return to work immediately!'
You say, 'That is great news.'
Glinpith says, 'It certainly is, now, what do I have here that I can give you as a reward? Let me see. AH! Here, this is the last thing I made before my exile. I hope it serves you well.

You receive Stone of Butchery.
