The good aligned faction in Shards of Dalaya; you will get a chance to join the Council of Innovation quests in the Main Quest, they give out a nice augmentation, as do the other factions, you can only be affiliated with one of these factions so choice wisely, your choice is permanent.

For the Heartland Plateau quests go to Council of Innovation - Heartland Plateau page.

Council Assistant's rank

Deepocean Exploration

Starting zone: Storm Sea
Quest giver: Oceanwalker Gargan
Prerequisites: Council Assistant's rank

Statue locations
Storm Sea: +370, 0

You say, 'Hail, Oceanwalker Gargan'
Oceanwalker Gargan says, 'Hah! You're a sight for sore eyes. Not many Council folk come down here, what cause there ain't much to see!' He claps you on the back, laughing heartily at his own joke. 'Ye lookin for a spot o work?'

-[D1] I be lookin' fer--um, yes, I'm looking for work.'
-[D2] Oceanwalker? What does that mean?'

You say, 'I be lookin' fer--um, yes, I'm looking for work.'
Oceanwalker Gargan says, 'Good, good! I've got two main things the home office wants done, and if'n you help me make em done, then I'll put in a good werd fer ya in me next written report.'

-[D1] What do you need done?

You say, 'What do you need done?'
Oceanwalker Gargan says, 'Two main things. The first is some easy swimmin'. We recently caught wind of some old, oolldd statues pushin up from the dirt deep in the oceans, here and in Swords. The ground shook, the water rippled, and foomf!' He gestures rigorously. 'If ye swim close and take a look, then tell us what you find, we'll reward you.'

-[D1] Sounds easy. What's the catch?
-[D2] You said two things? What's the other?

You say, 'Sounds easy. What's the catch?'
Oceanwalker Gargan says, 'Ehh, well...' He shifts uncomfortably on his feet. 'Bein' somethin' of a deepwater expert, I was already told to do that, but when I got close, there were these...things! Big, glowing balls of fear and cold, I dunnae know what they are, but they be a viscious threat. I barely escaped with me life. est avoid them if you can.'

The lights are listed as a lethal glow for the trackers out there, as the lights are an indication of where a statue lies. The lights themselves instantly kill anyone who gets too close so I'd recommend binding in whatever zone you're currently searching. Swim out to the area and avoid the lights as best as you can. The statues will appear as corpses though you don't need to loot them. Swim around the area until you trigger the next step. You know that you've completed the area once the white text appears, until it does you are not finished!

Note: Expect to die a lot. Took me around 20 deaths. Bring a druid as the ports and tracking will prove invaluable. An alternative would be a class with a locate corpse type spell as all of the statues are listed as corpses. Failing that, sense elemental will also locate the lethal glows.
Note: The best way to avoid dying over and over while attempting to canvas these statues is to simply swim straight down when you're over them. Swim directly inside them. You avoid the deathtouching glowers AND get the white text fast. - Arakias
Note: The deepocean guardians do not see through invisibility, deepocean acolytes and lethal glows, however, do. Recommend watching them all before diving underwater, as they path around. -tsunami123
You say, 'I have scouting information about the statues to report.'
Oceanwalker Gargan says, 'So ye do! This'll come in handy, mark me words, <playername>.'

You gain faction experience!
You turn in all the information you've collected, recieving credit for each.

Gnoll Wisdom

Starting zone: Storm Sea
Quest giver: Oceanwalker Gargan
Prerequisites: Council Assistant's rank

Gargan asks you to find out more about the Starfall Gnolls and to learn their history. He hints that you might need to raise your faction with them first.

After speaking with the A gnoll priestess she reveals some insight about her tribe and the Council of Innovation quests. Make sure to follow all of the dialog branches or you will have to make another trip! You're next trip is back to Gargan to fill him in on the details. Fill in Gargan with what you discovered and that will finish this quest.

Until Death Us Do Part

Starting zone: Lake Starfall
Quest giver: A gnoll priestess
Prerequisites: Council Assistant's rank, Start Gnoll Wisdom

Go to East Badlands by Heartland's zone in. Find and kill Lord Rotfang obtain Rotfang's Head. Turn the head in to priestess. Return the reward staff to the priestess for a good alignment adjustment and to complete the quest.

Spirit Call

Starting zone: Lake Starfall
Quest giver: A gnoll priestess
Prerequisites: Council Assistant's rank, Complete Until Death Us Do Part

Folow the A gnoll priestess around to the stair island filled with goblins. This quest is tricky, very tricky, the gnoll priestess has very few HP and the water goblins are higher level than she is. Rooting the goblins so you can better control agro is a must, you'll probably need to try this quest multiple times before you'll be familiar enough with it to intercept the goblins before she has a chance to engage them and lose a lot of HP.

Note: You can heal the priestess.

Graverobbing

Starting zone: Storm Sea
Quest giver: Captain Vicky
Prerequisites: Council Assistant's rank

Go to Shrouded Isle and kill mobs in the basement for copies of Scrap of Writing. The door to the basement requires a key and the mobs drop the pages very rarely (12 scraps to complete).

If you've completed Deepocean Exploration, Gnoll Wisdom, Until Death Us Do Part, Spirit Call, and Graverobbing you can head to Underhill and speak to Councillor IX about advancment to be promoted to the rank of Senior Assistant. Trade your badge in for your Council Senior Assistant's Badge.

She will give you another Feedback Prod and tell you to use it to keep Rinbo from straying from the path; make sure to have a run speed buff. Use the Feedback Prod on Rinbo to throw him left towards the road until you get to wisps at that point let him go. Then just follow the road to the gate. Make sure not to follow Rinbo or you will be death touched. Once Rinbo reaches gate hail him and go to the council camp at Shadowdale to hail him once more there.

Note: When you use the prod on Rinbo he will turn directly away from you and run a short distance before continuing toward the gate so be sure to position yourself properly before using it.
Note: You can only attempt this quest once, so if you fail you cannot do it again.

The items are Scitterous Mechanopendages, node of chemicular vigor, Wiggy orbinous puppetosphere, and axelized rotational matrix. Respawn on items is 1.5 hours and all items are lore. Before talking to Gimble, read info on A Bug on the Wall, as you may inadvertently trigger that quest unintentionally.

A Bug on the Wall

Starting zone: Shadowdale
Quest giver: Gimble Highsprocket
Prerequisites: Bits'n'pieces and Spirit Ore
Note: You may be given the option to start this quest after only 3 of 5 turn-ins for Bits'n'pieces. See that quest for details.

To avoid triggering this quest while doing Bits'n'pieces, avoid asking him about any of his machines. Gimble doesn't show you this machine until you ask about it.

Be ready for this quest it started really suddenly for me. It start right away after compliting Bits'n'pieces and saying the key word. Basically you have to follow a clockwork mob around and at 3 points on its way to Rivervale a seeking shadow spawn in the following quantities:

  • 2 - first wave
  • 4 - second wave
  • 6 - third wave

To complete the quest make sure to hail clockwork and wish it luck.

Adds were around level 49-50 (lb/db to 65) Esibun 19:40, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Note: You'll fail if the clockwork gets to 10% health, and you won't be able to reattempt the quest for some time. You are able to heal it, though.

Home Is Where The Heart Is

Starting zone: Shadowdale
Quest giver: Gimble Highsprocket
Prerequisites: Bits'n'pieces higher then associates rank

A more difficult escort mission in the same vein as A Bug on the Wall, where you "should gather friends to help ... protect another of Gimble's unusual machines from harm".

You follow the odd contraption west somewhat, where it then starts to do it's job, digging up corpses and things. From here frenzied shadows spawn all over and you have to defend the area against waves of them. Recommended you have 2 groups at least for this, and an aoe tank.--Darkrhapsody 23:41, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Starting zone: Thurgadin

Prerequisites: Recieve the quest Engage the Zaranth.

There are four scouting points that need to be reached in the dwarven fort in Crystal Caverns. Do that and come back.

First location
At the north end of the fortress is a bridge overlooking the entrance. Inspect the architecture, look for who built it. Are the Zaranth squatters or builders?
Second location
In the northwest corner of the fortress, on the ground floor, are three rooms side by side. search them untill you find furniture and again — look for clues as to who made it. You're a junior researcher now. Use deductive reasoning
Third location
A room in the middle of the fortress smells faintly of cinnamon. You may have to look around a bit to find it, but you'll know when you do. Look around, see if you can find the source of the smell.
Four location
The zaranth frequently go to pray in a tiny cubby in the southeast corner of the fortress. see if you can find any scraps of prayer material.

Junior Researcher rank

Mercy

Starting zone: Lake Starfall
Quest giver: A gnoll priestess
Prerequisites: Junior Researcher Rank, Complete Until Death Us Do Part, Spirit Call

After speaking to A gnoll priestess in Lake Starfall, head to East Badlands and find her on the South West shore. Hail her and follow the dialogue while running with her. After she reaches the Plague Gnoll camp and you tell her you're ready, about 15 docile plague gnolls will spawn and follow A gnoll priestess. Shortly after, waves of A plague specter will spawn and attack the Gnolls. Protect the gnolls and the A gnoll priestess until they reach the shore.

Note: Pay attention to the dialogue as this quest can adjust alignment depending on the answers you give at the end.
Note: I wasn't able to get any of the gnolls to the finish, yet I was still able to complete the quest. Not sure if this was a bug.

Brother Mine

Starting zone: Thurgadin
Quest giver: Councillor Evinthas
Prerequisites: Harthuk Herding and Junior Researcher faction rank

Head to Sorcerer's Labyrinth and inspect a prototype, a gargoyle, located by Eerizar. Go just past Eerizar's, door down the corridor and up the stairs in the castle. To get to the castle you have to drop down to the pit and go through the maze or go up through the village area. The village way is more straight forward. The hardest mobs that you have to clear hit around 200 and some mana drain.

Upon hailing a prototype the inspection part of this quest is complete. Thereafter, you need to collect 3 x Record of Construction which drop from any mob in the castle area (most often from golems). Once you have them go back to a prototype and be ready for a hard fight. Hand the 3 Record of Construction to a prototype. It will give you back 3 x Record of Construction and agro your party, at which point you need to kill it. Loot Record of Existence from a prototype's corpse. Go back to Evinthas and hand him 3 x Record of Construction and Record of Existence to finish the quest.

The Prototype is not something to be careless with. as most of the castle mobs it manadrains and it switches between whirlwind and perma riposte. i found out the hard way trying to duo it so hopefully this helps prevents another tragedy as such. (Reinhardt)
