Talk:Client Information

Sorry to slap a messy edit on... however... 3 of my friends have read this page and all three of them wasted a lot of time downloading things they didn't need, or puzzling over things that confused them... mostly, it's the myraids of notes giving conflicting information, saying that something doesn't work anymore, etc... Timestamps and finer editing would help the average new player to comprehend the text better... however, I think it'd be better if the whole section was scrapped, and reworked with the latest methods--preferably split up into titanium and non-titanium methods. i thought about doing it myself, but I'm not sure I understand the non-titanium method at all, much less, well enough to write about it. I'm hoping my note will make life easier for some new players coming through. :) sorry if I stepped on any toes! ColbyWolf 02:55, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

No worries at all. We definitely discourage time stamping - normally you can go through the history to see how and when revisions took place. However, since text was moved from the old site, that information is over there. We have a lot of pages that need revision, and we appreciate the help - its a community site, so the wiki gets better faster when the community helps! Rari 03:01, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
I'm a new player over here... Only got a couple of hours of play of the server under my belt... so I'm a bit tentative about editing things I'm not sure about ;) I'm not a Wiki-wiz, but I'd be happy to help out. :D Timestamps, in general, should be discouraged, though with the mess of notes in this article, they'd be helpful... but, it'd be better to just rewrite the whole thing, and remove the out of date information. :) As for reviewing the history of a wikipage.. that works well, if you're familiar with wiki in general--the majority of users may not be so aware of the history feature. ... :) but, all in all, it's a moot point! -- I'm going to take a swing at rewriting the 'obtaining the client' bit... I'd really appreciate it if someone could look back over it when I'm done and make sure that I've got the details correct. :D ColbyWolf 21:06, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
Don't worry, I look over just about everything that hits Recent Changes at some point. I definitely suggest checking out the Community Portal and Help sections (they're both in the nav bar on the left.) The policy page is especially important imo, but there's a lot of good stuff in there. If you come up with any other questions, feel free to slide me a note on my talk page. Well, for the sake of saying, I revised the section in question... May have over emphasized the rules a bit... but in my experience (with a free wow-server) people never read the rules...Feel free to, er, de-emphasize if it's a bit much. :) I'll take a look around the community portal and other areas--thanks for the point in that direction :D Oh! and I deleted a referenced to a link on demonoid for downloading Titanium edition. The link was dead. I didn't go looking for a replacement link, as I wasn't sure of the... legality of posting such things. :) TY again! ColbyWolf 22:45, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
Good call. I added the minimum patches required, but personally I enjoy your enthusiasm for the rules :P Rari 01:30, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
