You say, 'Hail, Guardsman Scott'

Guardsman Scott says, 'Hail, [name]. I am here on behalf of the city of Newport, to seek out adventurers willing to perform tasks for the city. I oversee the tasks to fruition, and am to pay appropriately for each specific task offered. We currently have tasks on the following regions: The Western and Northern Badlands, the Southern Badlands, and the Eastern Badlands.'

You say, 'Tell me about the Eastern tasks.'

Guardsman Scott says, 'A request has been sent in from far away Halas... alchemists there have learned of a rare herb found inthe eastern regions of the Badlands, now called Bitter Leaf. There is also an uprising of late involving the plaguewind gnolls of the eastern regions. Either of these tasks could use your immediate attention.'

You say, 'How do I get ahold of this bitter leaf?'

Guardsman Scott says, 'The leaf is said to grow in the plains sections of the Eastern Badlands. However, those that have been recovered have been studied, and are said to have an extremely sweet taste and silky texture to them - making the leaf a prime food target for creatures in the area. There is a side effect to the leaves, though, and this is what the alchemists of Halas would like to study them further for. The leaf, when ingested, is said to slowly transform the body of the creature eating it... similar to the plagues which inflict many of the creatures. For each leaf returned to me, I will grant you a bounty offered by the city of Newport.'
