Cyrtho Malath/Strategy guide

There is no longer a hard capped 6 person limit to the entire zone, more than one group can enter the zone at one time. Regardless, it is best to find out which wing people are in before you bring a group (/who cmalath all).

Group makeup

Some kind of way to do CC is necessary; enchanter or bard preferred but a necromancer could do it in a pinch. You will need a slower and healer(or one very good shaman to do both) and at least one tank (some encounters require a secondary tank, but this is only on the names, and a ranger/rogue can work in a pinch). A FD puller like monk or SK will help alot and pacify from a paladin also comes in handy. I'd say ideal makeup would be a warrior, monk, shaman, enchanter, cleric, rogue, but alot of other combos would work also. Don't be scared to do it in a non-standard group though, I have never done CMalath with a FD puller.

General mob info

  • Spellbreakers These mobs cast a small AE dispell of one slot every so often(and instantly on pull). Make sure and put your least important buffs first.
  • Snarebreakers Innate AE snare every so often(and instantly on pull). Annoying but not too much of a problem. Make sure your tank doesn't have far to pull to the group when pulling them.
  • Blink Mages Mage mobs that "blink" out for awhile, while their pets stick around. Just kill them fast, or wait a few seconds for them to pop back up.
  • Fire, water, earth, and air "Callers" Every 30 seconds or so they summon a mob to help them. Kill these fast or have Enchanter ready. They also each drop a item of the appropriate element that is used in a quest to create a nice resist range item(one of each item needed).
  • Sorcerer High level wizard normal mob. Randomly drops Sorcerer's Chalice.
  • Battlemaster High level warrior mob, hits hard and fast. Randomly drops casters.
  • Fanatic Warrior mob that enrages when near death.
  • Ceremonial Conclave Guard Shadowknight type mob, Harm Touchs, snares, drainlifes, lots of hitpoints.

Walkthrough

You must get the key from the previous area in order to advance far in a harder area, so get Tomb key first, then Conclave Tower key, Conclave Chamber key, and then Inner Tomb key.

Tomb key

Zone in, buff, open first door and kill the patroller for the Serpentine Key(or DireCharm it if you already have a key). Gather your group in front of the door on your right, open it with the Serpentine key and have your party come in(door is on a 15 minute timer, so make sure no one is afk). You will be immediately attacked by a mob, and possibly one other add. Kill these and open the next door, and run your party to the left corner, and kill the patroller. In lift tube should be 4 mobs, split these with a FD puller, Paladin pacify, or just pull all 4. Once lift is clear, have puller go up lift and pull the one patroller from top of lift tube. Move party up lift tube carefully, but don't have them leave the platform. In front of you is a door with a patroller behind it, and mobs on either side that patrol almost to the front of the ramp(hard to see). Wait until the door patroller has just left, hop down the ramp and grab 1 or 2 of the side mobs and pull back into the lift area. Kill these, then kill the one behind the door. Move group down to the crossroads past door. Go to the right(left is to 2Sorc) and advance until you are attacked by 2 or 3 mobs(one mob is patrolling behind a secret wall). Kill these, and go through the secret wall in the first cubby to the left. Go straight until a 3-way intersection, and pull 2 mobs from behind a door straight ahead. Now go down the middle hallway until it takes a right turn. Camp group here and pull the 3-pull from the room ahead(3 mobs against the wall to the left). Now move group through room to another 3-way. Pull mob on your right, and then carefully open door to your left. Should get 1-3 mobs, one static behind door and 2 patrollers to either side. Kill these, then go into the room to your left and clear Lift tube as before. Have puller go up lift and bring 2 statics down from the top to group. Then move up lift and kill patroller around the lift area(be aware of patroller behind door). Open door, kill patroller and camp at a 3-way. Pull the mob in a little room to the side, then pull the 2 mobs from the big room in front of you. They patrol back and forth so can get a single pull if you are careful. Camp at the end of that room and carefully open both doors in front of you; should get 2 mobs. Now you should have a Named, and 2 normal mobs. Have Enchanter mez the 2 while the group kills the Named who sometimes drops a robe and always a Tomb Key.

Killing the 2 High Sorcerers(2Sorc) and Conclave Tower key

Move group down to the crossroads past door. Pull 2 mobs from cubbies to your left(they will come before you can usually see them). Move up to 3-way, pull two mobs from the right. Open door and pull a patroller around lift area. Go to the left and clear lift tube as done before. Position party in life tube area(but don't have them go up). Get a HOT on the tank and have him go up tube and pull 1-2 Sorcerers(they root, nuke and hit hard, so make sure group is near lift tube in case a healer has to go in and heal you on way back). You can also have group just charge up the tube and kill 2, whatever suits your group. Either way, once done move your party up lift tube and pull the mob that patrols around lift area and past the door. Then open door and move party to 3-way. Next pull is 3 snarebreakers, so either pull all 3, or have Enchanter mez one while someone roots another, but make sure your tank doesn't have far to pull to group ... he will get snared. Once clear, move group through the room and into the hallway in front. Make sure the party hugs the RIGHT wall of the hallway, since left wall can aggro some patrollers through wall if you aren't careful(would be aggro of 2 fairly easy mobs usually). Now kill the sorcerer in front of you and move party to there. Open doors in front of you, should see 2 sorcerers next to each other to your right, 2 sorcerers next to each other on the left, and the 2 High Sorcerers on a platform in the middle. Pull the right 2-spawn, then the left 2-spawn. When those are clear, have tank go behind platform, hugging right wall, until he can see the Sorcerer hiding behind platform. Pull it carefully making sure it doesn't path too close to the High Sorcerers. Move group in and put up good buffs and RuneVI. Have everyone in group and the secondary tank aggro the left one, while the maintank tank/mezzes the right one. Unload on the left one and kill quickly, and then mop up the one that's left. They drop pally 2h sword, good warrior/rng arms, a tank mask, wis caster helm and other toys. They also each drop a Conclave Tower key.

Voice of the Conclave and Conclave Chamber Key

Zone in, open door and kill patroller, go up and around the ramp. Gather group in front of door and open it with the Conclave Tower Key(from 2-Sorc). Move group into room, door has a 15min between openings, so make sure no one is afk. Camp group at the very first turn and wait for the patroller to come as close to you as it will(do not pull it from afar, it will aggro others then). Kill it and then go straight ahead and kill named Guard Captain in room(drops class-specific leggings). Go back to 3-way and pull mobs from room. Should be 2 pulls of 2, but be careful. Move into room, and have puller grab a mob patrolling around next lift area. Now move to the left and set up. Should be 3 Callers in lift area. Either split with FD puller, try pacify, or do all 3. Remember these guys will spawn extra mobs if you dont kill them fast. Move party up lift(it's safe) and move down past door. Kill patroller in the hallway and stop at 3-way intersection. To the left is the Elementalist who drops the pouches for the Caller items. Kill him or ignore. Then move to your right all the way to the very end. At this 3-way there is another Named mob to your left, with another static spawn next to him(hard to see). Kill these or ignore. Then to your right you should see the Voice of the Conclave sitting in front of the ramp to a lift tube(that doesn't go anywhere) as well as 2 static mobs behind him. The Voice instantly casts AE Root upon engage, so all charge at the same time, and melees get ready to use bows if rooted away from mob(Voice doesn't move, so don't try and move him). If you are very careful, the 2 mobs behind won't aggro, but have your Enchanter ready in case they do. Remember, you will all be rooted, so be careful. He hits hard and fast. Conclave drops major pieces of class-specific armor, as well as Conclave Chamber key.

The Conclave and Inner Tomb key

Follow Voice guide until you kill Voice of the Conclave and the 2 mobs behind him. Then go around lift area, open door and kill patroller behind it and then continue down hallway until it opens up into a room. Have puller/FDer split them and kill(these are very tough mobs, so be careful). Then advance through a door in the right cubby. Behind here should be a patroller. Kill patroller, take a right turn and open the door into the Conclave chamber. On top of a platform with a ramp are the 4 members of the Conclave. They are immune to mez and charm and are also linked. I'll leave it up to you on how to do this encounter ... it's pretty tough. Each mob isn't that hard individually but 4 at once is another matter. Anyway, since you got this far, might as well kill them. They drop a shaman book, caster robe, and other items. Also, each one drops Inner Tomb key.
